00:00A typical day at Dubai International.
00:13This award-winning airport is one of the busiest in the world, accommodating over 50 million
00:18transportations each year.
00:20And with more than 80 different airlines moving passengers through its doors, it requires
00:24a top-notch team to manage the foot traffic that pours through the airport's immigration
00:28department each day.
00:32The airport has 92 passport control desks spread across two terminals, all manned by
00:37staff who have special training in customer relations.
00:42There can be as many as 50 customs officers working in a single shift.
00:47We have our training, especially for immigration, on the counters.
00:52They do like customer services, how to deal and give the service.
00:58We teach them how to be patient with the passengers, because a passenger, he comes
01:04like for eight hours traveling.
01:08We put ourselves like in his place.
01:11State-of-the-art digital technology such as cameras and scanners are used to speed commuters
01:16through the counters, and duty officers are on hand to monitor the staff's performance.
01:22We have on each shift there is a duty officer, and they give us like a feedback on the staff
01:28to give them more training, and some of them, like in English language and customer services,
01:34we will take them or we will give them the first available training course.
01:39In its quest to make the immigration process as smooth as possible, there are a number
01:43of services available, including special needs facilities, private screening booths for women,
01:49and fast-track queues for families with children.
01:52And officials are always on hand to offer assistance.
01:56We have for special needs, separate counters for them.
02:14We have for the covered ladies, separate cabins for them, to be for their privacy.
02:20This process cannot be done in front of the other passengers, it will be on a side.
02:26Plus, we have our staff on the waiting area, they receive the families.
02:33Kids, we don't want them to be in lines, so we give them special counters,
02:39or give their procedures much faster.
02:50We are doing our best to complete the procedures for the passengers.
02:56And thank God, the team that I have, they all work in one team, and everyone cooperates.
03:05E-gates are also available for passengers who wish to cut out unnecessary waiting in line.
03:11The airport is also preparing to open a new smart E-gate system,
03:16where passengers can swipe their passport's barcode,
03:19undergo a quick facial and retinal scan via a high-accuracy camera,
03:23and be on their way in under 20 seconds.
03:38At Terminal 3, the General Department for Residency and Foreign Affairs Center
03:43offers comprehensive services relating to naturalization, residency and tourism.
03:48The center is open to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
03:53Travelers moving through the immigration counters had this to say
03:57about their Dubai International Immigration experience.
04:09It was very easy.
04:12I felt at home.
04:15I was very comfortable.
04:17I didn't have to wait for a minute or a second.
04:42But everything is very good here in Dubai.
04:44With a team of dedicated staff working around the clock,
04:47and plans in place for future streamlining,
04:50it's clear the Dubai International Immigration Department have a specific focus in mind
04:55when dealing with the many travelers that grace its counters.
04:58Our aim is to give certification for all Dubai passengers and UAE visitors.
