A woman who encouraged her boyfriend to follow his dreams and become a pilot burst into tears of joy when he proposed in his cockpit at 7,500 feet in the air. Elizabeth “Lilly” Keller, 26, from Delray Beach, Florida, had always admired boyfriend Adrian Cerrato's love of flying and dreams of one day becoming a pilot, often saying as he flew his drone, "Imagine if that were you in the sky." Having dated for three years, Lilly decided to surprise Adrian on Valentine's Day 2022 with a discovery flight, which many people undertake if they are interested in pursuing a career in aviation. Adrian loved everything about the day – the airport, the planes, and, of course, the flight itself – and just two months later, he applied for flight school. Today, the 30-year-old is a professional flight instructor, working out of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Having decided he was going to propose, Adrian knew he had to incorporate flying in some way, given it was Lilly who had encouraged him to get where he is today.

00:13I was fascinated with aviation and if I could get my pilot license,
00:17just my private pilot license at some point in my life, I would do it.
00:20So on Valentine's Day, Lily surprised Adrian with something he'd never forget.
00:27She decided to pay for me to go on my first Discovery flight.

00:33Sitting in the pilots.
00:35It was always a joke about him becoming a pilot.
00:39And I think we were just in a time of our lives,
00:41like where we both were kind of figuring out what we wanted to do career-wise.
00:46And Adrian figured out this was exactly what he wanted to do.
00:50So now that he's a pilot and flight instructor,
00:53he wanted to thank Lily and make her heart sore.
00:57He plans a romantic flight over the Everglades, a beach walk, and on the way back.
01:03I even said like three times, like, I don't think anything could make this day more perfect.
01:08I said like three times, and he's like, hmm.
01:11And then sure enough, it like, the ride back was the icing of the cake of the whole day.

03:44with the Discovery flight, trying to get the loan for him to go,
03:47for him going through that year of hard schooling
03:50and us having to financially figure things out,
03:54we would have never been able to do this.
03:55We wouldn't be making the video, been in that plane for the proposal.
