00:09top stories at this hour. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President
00:14and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has opened the 13th edition of the Dubai
00:19Air Show. The event opened at its new permanent purpose-built home near Al Maktoum International
00:24Airport at Dubai World Central. At the show, Etihad announced a $25.2 billion Boeing order
00:32for 82 wide-body aircraft including 777X and 787s. Emirates is expected to announce major
00:39orders at the show which brings together a who's who of the regional and global aviation
00:44industry including Qatar Airways, Boeing and Airbus. Omani civil defence officials have
00:50fished out the body of an Indian worker who went missing on Friday night after heavy rains
00:55lashed northern suburbs of Muscat. In Riyadh and some of its suburbs, schools will be closed
01:01today as the authorities work on reopening roads shut down by heavy rains. Road traffic
01:06came to a standstill in many of the Saudi capital's roads where high levels of rain
01:11were recorded. In the UAE, the skies will remain cloudy with a maximum daytime temperature
01:16of 29°C dropping to 22°C at night. A construction worker was killed when he jumped from the
01:23fifth floor of a building on fire in Dubai. Around 300 workers were in the under-construction
01:29high-rise at Jumeirah Village when the fire broke out around 3.15pm. Some of the workers
01:34on higher floors were rescued by their colleagues using ropes. Libya is on edge today following
01:40heavy clashes this weekend in Tripoli. At least 40 protesters were killed over the weekend
01:45after armed gunmen opened fire on them. Prime Minister Ali Zaidan urged rival militias to
01:52stay out of the Libyan capital in a bid to keep the peace. Abdullah Yameen took power
01:57in the Maldives today after a shock election victory ending nearly two years of political
02:02turmoil. Yameen, the half-brother of the island's long-time strongman ruler Maumun Abdul Gayyum,
02:09is due to be sworn in at a presidential inauguration ceremony. Sport and Henrik Stenson takes a
02:15one-shot lead into today's final day of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. The
02:21Swede, who also leads the season-long Race to Dubai standings, is followed by Francis
02:26Victor Dubussen. Sebastian Vettel will be on pole position for today's US Grand Prix
02:32as he bids to become the first driver to win eight successive races in the same Formula
02:37One season. The German pipped Red Bull teammate Mark Webber to the front of the grid with
02:43his final qualifying lap in Texas last night. British comedian Russell Brand has cancelled
02:49his South African tour after he was blocked from flying to the country. According to his
02:54publicist, Brand did not have the requisite number of empty pages in his passport as required
02:59by the country for visitors.
