00:07what exactly is a Michelin star and what does it mean?
00:10So a Michelin star is an award given to restaurants that are considered to have the best food
00:14in a city. The accolade is considered the highest honour in the culinary world.
00:19In order to receive one, inspectors will visit the restaurant and write reports about their
00:24dining experience. Inspectors then rate the quality of ingredients and consistency, flavour
00:29and technique. Stars can range from one to three.
00:33And should a restaurant be awarded with three stars, the restaurant is considered to have
00:37exceptional cuisine and to be worth a trip to.
00:41Interestingly, the Michelin's guide history began by the Michelin brothers in the 1880s
00:46who founded the world famous tyre company. They produced a small guide filled with information
00:51for travellers such as maps, fuel stations and how to change a tyre. The guide was hoped
00:56to boost car sales and tyre sales in turn.
00:59But what do you think? Which restaurant in your city is your favourite and deserves a
01:03Michelin star?
