00:00It's marvellous to be back in Abu Dhabi. I think Abu Dhabi always used to be the first
00:16race of the season so everybody enjoyed it because they got to catch up on what the hot
00:21news was and what had happened over the off-season and also I think most of us have come from
00:25North American winters and European winters which the weather's been pretty grim so we're
00:30all really pleased to be back here. It's an uplifting experience to see this nice weather,
00:34the beautiful Corniche and to be racing again so I think we're all very pleased to be back here.
00:55The race aeroplanes are pretty much based on absolutely top-level competition and air show
01:07aerobatic aeroplanes. They're pretty much Edge 540s from America, MXS's from America and the
01:15Corvus originally from Hungary. They're all sort of similar, single seat, carbon fibre, very light,
01:24strong, very high power to weight ratio. So that's how they start as aerobatic aeroplanes
01:29but then they're optimised for racing so people cut them down, cut down the aerodynamic drag and
01:34put some aerodynamic improvements on them to make sure they're as fast as they can possibly be.
01:53I think the first two guys were separated by two one hundredths of a second so really tight.
02:05They're all flying the same identical aeroplanes which levels the playing field again and we're
02:11hoping to use them as sort of ambassadors really around the world. We've got lots of
02:15different nationalities and of the ten challengers, six will fly at any race so
02:21there'll be a different six, some different pilots at the next round and the idea is that
02:26when we get to the penultimate race, the last but one race, the fastest of the series so far
02:32this year will go forward to the final in China and the winner of that final will be handed the
02:37first Challengers Cup.
