00:00Let's not forget, last night, the debut of Luka Doncic.
00:02We'll get to that in just a sec.
00:04First, let's start off with the NBA,
00:06and a story that definitely seems to be progressing
00:09in the direction of the Minnesota Timberwolves
00:11potentially being sold.
00:13An arbiter ruled yesterday that, indeed,
00:16Mark Lohr, Alex Rodriguez,
00:18that is the group that is potentially trying
00:20to buy the Timberwolves,
00:22they have been approved
00:24as the next majority ownership group of the Timberwolves.
00:27You may remember that Glenn Taylor,
00:30the owner of the Timberwolves,
00:31simply wanted to pull back the sale
00:34that he had already agreed to
00:36because of financing issues
00:38with the Lohr-Alex Rodriguez group,
00:41but the arbitrators determined
00:42that Taylor has violated terms of the sale agreement
00:45when he announced last March
00:47that Lohr and Rodriguez missed a deadline
00:49for a $600 million payment.
00:52Lohr and Rodriguez disputed that,
00:54saying that they thought they had another 90 days
00:56to get it done.
00:56In fact, they also say that they have the money in escrow
00:59to make the final payment,
01:01but right now, the other owners,
01:03or as they say, the current governors
01:04involved in the National Basketball Association,
01:06are going to vote on this,
01:08and they will need 23 of the 30 current teams
01:12or governors to approve the sale,
01:14and if so, that would mean Glenn Taylor is out
01:17and Mark Lohr and A-Rod are in.
01:20They also released a statement
01:22saying that they were happy with the decision.
01:24Needless to say, the approval process
01:26can close the transaction,
01:27and they want to be part of the Twin Cities in the future.
01:30As of right now, the last hurdle to clear
01:33will be the vote by the other ownership groups in the NBA.
01:3723 out of 30, they become the owners.
01:40If not, it goes back to Glenn Taylor.
01:43The Lake Show continued last night.
01:45The debut of Luka Doncic went pretty well,
01:48132 to 113, the final,
01:51as Luka ends up having a nice game in his debut.
01:54It was the first game played for Luka,
01:57while on the other side, Anthony Davis is out.
01:59Luka enjoyed the reception from the fans last night,
02:03also had a very good plus-minus
02:04when he was on the court as well,
02:06but talked about the reception that he received.
02:09Being special, the way they received me,
02:12everybody, it was amazing to see.
02:15I was a little nervous before.
02:17I mean, it was the last time I was nervous before the game,
02:20so, but once I stepped on the court, it was fun,
02:23and just being out there again felt amazing.
02:28The camera and the microphone picked up LeBron
02:31telling you in the pregame huddle to be you,
02:34don't try to fit in, fit out.
02:36What did that message mean to you,
02:37and what does it look like for you to fit out with this team?
02:42I mean, it's, like I said before, it's special,
02:45you know, for him to say something like that
02:47just feels amazing, give me confidence,
02:48and, you know, after that speech, it was chills,
02:52so I was just happy to be part of it.
02:56Let's go now over to the Super Bowl,
02:58and the viewership numbers are in.
03:00No surprise, the Super Bowl averaged a record
03:03126 million viewers, according to Fox,
03:06it peaked at 135.7, highest-watched Super Bowl
03:09of all time, that's been the case
03:10virtually every single season.
03:12Brock Purdy looks like he's got an opportunity
03:14to stay in San Francisco,
03:15or at least their owner seems to think so.
03:17Jed York says they will do everything
03:19to extend Brock Purdy to keep him in Santa Clara.
03:22By the way, the Super Bowl is there next year.
03:24The New York Giants have hired Chad Hall
03:25as assistant quarterback's coach,
03:27and also Ken Dorsey, former offensive coordinator
03:29for the Bills and Browns, and former quarterback
03:32at the University of Miami, is set to join
03:34the Dallas Cowboys as a pass game specialist.
03:37In the NBA, the Hornets are right now
03:40in a little bit of a transition,
03:42needless to say, over this trade,
03:44to dispute Mark Williams's failed Lakers physical.
03:47The trade was rescinded over the weekend,
03:49he was traded for Dalton Connect,
03:51a trade that could still happen, but stay tuned.
03:54All-stars Evan Mobley, Donovan Mitchell
03:56lead the Cavs to a 128 to 107 win
03:59over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
04:01Cleveland's playing great basketball,
04:02and they're also getting some help.
04:03DeAndre Hunter has joined their squad,
04:06and Mitchell, after the game, talked about
04:07the defense that Hunter played
04:09and the difference that it made.
04:10I think it was great.
04:11I think for him to come in,
04:13and we just kept it simple on offense.
04:15Defensively, you saw the impact he has.
04:17We're guarding one of the best players in the NBA,
04:20making it tough for him to start the game.
04:21I think he started off 2 of 10, 2 of 11,
04:25turnovers, different things, just from his activity,
04:27us being in the gaps.
04:28It sets a tone.
04:29When he's up there pressuring the ball,
04:31we're all in the gaps, we're all doing our thing.
04:32That's what he really, that's what he brings.
04:34You know what I mean?
04:35And obviously on the offensive end,
04:36continuing to find his spots
04:38and being aggressive and different things.
04:39So for the first game, it's definitely great to have him,
04:43and we're excited because it's something
04:44we continue to build with and get better.
04:47Yeah, I didn't like much about us tonight, you know.
04:50You know, our start, you know, we missed shots.
04:55I thought we would kind of figure out
04:58how to get into the game.
04:59You know, I didn't like our toughness tonight.
05:03You know, I didn't like our offense at all.
05:05I thought it just kind of bogged down,
05:06and their switching did some of that too,
05:08but I didn't think we were very, you know,
05:12I didn't think we were super intelligent
05:14on that side of the floor.
05:17Yeah, I didn't like our kind of resistance when it mattered.
05:21You know, we'd been playing way better than that.
05:24So it wasn't a lot to like about tonight.
05:28Long winning streak continued last night
05:31for the Denver Nuggets.
05:32They won their seventh straight game
05:34and the offensive output 146
05:37on the Portland Trailblazers last night.
05:38Nikola Jokic, no triple-double.
05:40He did have 40 points, seven rebounds, eight assists,
05:43and Jokic, after the game,
05:45talked about the little things and the ball distribution,
05:49meaning the reason why they had such a good offensive effort.
05:52I didn't. I mean, we had 44 assists, of course.
05:55That's a, like I said,
05:56you need to make sure to have a lot of assists.
06:00I mean, we attacked the paint.
06:02We didn't shoot well for the three,
06:04but we attacked the paint,
06:06and I think that's a high percentage shot.
06:11Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not good,
06:12but today was really good for us,
06:14and I think CB, like, he was really leading the break,
06:18leading the transition.
06:19He played really well for us,
06:20and I think when we attack in transition,
06:24we are playing fast.
06:25It's really good for us.
06:2729 fast break points, 88 in the paint,
06:2944 assists, only 10 turnovers.
06:31I mean, the offensive numbers across the board
06:33were just incredible,
06:35and the efficiency in which we were able to do that,
06:38and much is always made of other Nuggets.
06:41You know, I think somebody said
06:43we got to diversify our offense at one point.
06:45Why?
06:46You know, stick with what's working.
06:48You know, we put up 146 points,
06:51and, you know, we've led the league
06:52all year long to this point
06:54as we approach the all-star break
06:55in fast break points and paint points and assists,
06:59and that's how we do it.
07:01Hard to argue with Mike Malone at this point.
07:03Also hard to argue that SGA is the MVP
07:06and Oklahoma City is the best team in the NBA.
07:08I mean, those two things reign true again.
07:1031 points for SGA last night,
07:11137 for Oklahoma City, just 101 for the Pelicans.
07:15He's averaging 37 points over his last 10 games.
07:18Also, Chet Holmgren back for Oklahoma City
07:20talked after the win last night.
07:21Yeah.
07:22I'd say the biggest thing is just emphasizing
07:27the importance of each individual play.
07:29You can look up and be like, you know, we're up 20.
07:31It's time for, you know, me to try to do this
07:34or this person trying to do this,
07:36but that's not our focus.
07:37We're out there trying to really get better
07:39every single play as a five-man unit,
07:41no matter who's out there.
07:42And when you do that, you're able to really kind of
07:45build on the last play and the play before that
07:47and just, you know, be relentless against the other team.
07:50I feel like that's what we were able to do tonight
07:52and in the games before, no matter who's out there.
07:56Just continue to make it really hard for the other team.
07:59And, you know, it's been shown on the scoreboard.
08:02The new AP Top 25 is out
08:05and three of the top five teams
08:07are in the Southeastern Conference.
08:09We actually make that four out of five.
08:11Auburn, number one.
08:12Alabama, number two.
08:13Florida, number three.
08:14Duke, four.
08:14And Tennessee, five.
08:15Auburn was number one last week, by the way,
08:18but they lost to Florida.
08:19Alabama moves up to number two.
08:21Number six, Houston beats Baylor 76 to 65.
08:24Clemson takes care of North Carolina.
08:26Final score, 85 to 65.
08:30Also, Kenley Jansen reunited in Southern California.
08:33This time, it's the Angels.
08:35What year's Engels now?
