00:00Good day, welcome to the Gulf News update for Wednesday, June the 15th.
00:07Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:10Investigators trying to find out what motivated nightclub killer Omar Mateen are casting a
00:15wide net.
00:16The FBI is checking reports that Mateen frequented a gay dance club in Orlando before going on
00:22a murderous rampage there.
00:25Investigators also are looking at whether his wife knew anything beforehand about the
00:29deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
00:33A federal grand jury has been convened and could charge Omar Mateen's wife Noor Salman
00:38as early as Wednesday.
00:41The attack left Mateen and 49 victims dead.
00:45A two-year-old Nebraska boy was attacked and dragged away by an alligator at a lake at
00:50Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Tuesday night.
00:57The attack occurred about 9.15pm on the beach area of the artificial Seven Seas Lagoon.
01:03The boy was partly in the water at the edge of the lagoon with his mother, father and
01:08a four-year-old sister when the alligator pulled him away.
01:13Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has criticized Iceland's small mentality while saying they
01:19were fortunate to earn a 1-1 draw against his team in the European Championship Group
01:25F opener.
01:26It was a lucky night for them, Ronaldo said.
01:29I thought they had won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end.
01:33They just defend.
01:35This in my opinion shows a small mentality, he said.
01:39The opening to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven was played for jurors in a case brought
01:44by the estate of a dead musician.
01:47A lawyer for the estate of the late Randy Wolfe claimed the British rockers lifted the
01:52passage from the instrumental tune Taurus, recorded by his band Spirit and infringed
01:58on the songwriter's copyright.
02:02And finally, the weather.
02:03Today's high across the UAE will be 38 degrees Celsius, dropping to 26 degrees at night.
02:08That's all for now.
