00:00The Discovery Channel's Shark Week exhibition has officially opened at Dubai Aquarium Underwater
00:09Zoo at Dubai Mall. The brand new attraction is based on Discovery Channel's epic Shark
00:14Week TV series and features a seamless hybrid of digital technology and living marine life.
00:19Upon entering, guests will walk into a digital shark cage, giving the perspective of a diver
00:23from the inside looking out at the sharks swimming around. From there, people will enter
00:27a glass-roofed tunnel where various sharks and marine life go about their business above
00:31and beside you.
00:32In order for us to bring the big heroes, you know, the great whites and the tigers and
00:37the threshers, we've created this reflection of the big animals in CGI and then the live
00:44animals in front. What we have done is we've brought the very iconic animals like the hammerhead.
00:50The hammerhead's hair and the flesh, we know how to work with it, we know how to succeed
00:53with it. So you'll see some very iconic live sharks and then you'll also see the animals
00:59like the great white in CGI. As part of our pledge to raise awareness for sharks, this
01:05exhibition is on journey. So it's part of your original ticket price. So if you buy
01:10a ticket to the aquarium, you'll go through the main exhibit and then you'll come through
01:14Shark Week and then you'll continue on to see King Croc and the penguins and everything
01:17else. So essentially there's no additional charge for this.
01:20The hope for the exhibition is to educate the public about the importance of sharks
01:24in our oceans and how their depleted numbers due to fishing and illegal hunting has a dramatic
01:28effect on the ocean's ecosystem worldwide. Logan Fish for Gulf News.
