00:18full text of the accord that he says will end a half-century of bloody combat. He said
00:23he would hold an October 2 referendum on the accord with the Revolutionary Armed Forces
00:27of Colombia.
00:29Rescue crews raced against time today looking for survivors from the earthquake that levelled
00:33three towns in central Italy. The efforts come even as the death toll rose to 247 and
00:39Italy once again anguished over trying to secure its ancient communities built on seismic
00:44lands. Aided by sniffer dogs, firefighters and rescue crews using their bare hands pulled
00:50chunks of cement, rock and metal apart from mounds of rubble.
00:54Consumers in the UAE are expected to refrain from splurging during Eid al-Adha. According
00:59to retail analysts, the trend is the result of consumers having increased their spending
01:03on gifts during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Rabia Yasmin of Euromonitor International said she
01:09anticipates retail sales during Eid to grow at a lower rate compared to last year.
01:14And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 44 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:19to 32 degrees at night.
