00:00Good day and welcome to the Gulf News Update for Sunday, October the 23rd.
00:06Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:09One person was killed and at least two injured by two near-simultaneous blasts in a Japanese
00:14park, the local fire department said.
00:16The explosions occurred at a park some 100 km north of Tokyo shortly after 11.30 am.
00:22It was not immediately clear what caused the blasts.
00:26A Saudi-led Arab coalition resumed attacks targeting Iran-backed al-Houthi militants
00:31in Sana'a at dawn, hours after a three-day truce in Yemen's war expired.
00:36The ceasefire, agreed in order to allow an increased flow of much-needed humanitarian
00:41aid, ended without renewal after a day of heavy fighting between rival forces.
00:47Donald Trump unveiled plans for the first 100 days of his presidency on Saturday, vowing
00:52to create 25 million jobs over a decade and cut middle-class taxes as he and Hillary Clinton
00:58courted undecided swing state voters.
01:00While offering a number of concrete policy initiatives, the Republican billionaire also
01:05attacked his critics, threatening to sue the liars who have accused him of sexual assault
01:10and saying Clinton should have been barred from running.
01:14An 81-minute Gareth Macaulay goal prevented Liverpool from provisionally going top in
01:19the Premier League as they defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 last night.
01:24Needing a two-goal win to move above leaders' arsenal, Liverpool took a 2-0 lead through
01:29Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho, but Macaulay's strike left them in second place on goal difference.
01:36It took Bob Dylan the best part of a week to acknowledge that he had been awarded the
01:40Nobel Prize in Literature, and even then only in the most dismissive way – an update to
01:45a page on his website plugging a new collection of his lyrics.
01:49But now, it appears even that paltry nod went too far for the mercurial music legend.
01:54The simple words, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, which appeared on the page
01:58for the lyrics 1961-2012, have now been removed.
02:04And finally, the weather.
02:05Today's high across the UAE will be 34 degrees Celsius dropping to 23 degrees at night.
02:10That's all for now, thanks for watching, and as always, you can get the latest news
