00:00Learning a new language is a nice way to intellectual self-improvement, much like picking up on
00:24crochet, embroidery, or strumming a guitar. But for people working in Global Village,
00:30it's not just a genteel indulgence, but a skill to help them do their job better.
00:54I speak Arabic, Urdu, and a little bit of English as well. I've learned a little bit of Hindi and Arabic.
01:08I hope to learn more in the future.
01:14Welcome. We are now in Global Village in the Syrian region.
01:21I speak a little bit of Arabic, and we are trying to help him improve his Arabic,
01:28since most of the visitors are Arabs and Syrians.
01:36So he has to speak to the customers in Arabic.
01:42We are trying to teach him how to speak to the customers in Arabic.
01:50Thank God he responded to us, and now he speaks very well.
01:58We also tried to learn a little bit of Arabic from him.
02:04Thank God everything is going well.
02:11It's a strange bird.
02:13Like Sonic?
02:15Yes.
02:16Belella?
02:17Belella.
02:18Say, chip, chop, chew.
02:19Chip, chop, chew.
02:21It's like a frog.
02:22Frog.
02:23Yes, frog.
02:25One, twenty-five.
02:26Twenty-five.
02:27Twenty-five. Five, seven, one hundred.
02:29We really want to interact with our customers. We sell a different product.
02:32So picking up a bit of the language of the local people is important to us.
02:37So in that, we thought it's important that we learn a bit of Arabic.
02:41I think that's important to build connections.
02:44We come from very different backgrounds,
02:46but when you can just relate to someone in their native language,
02:50that already creates a bit of a bond, a bridge,
02:53and that's something very important as a salesperson,
02:55but just as a global citizen as well.
02:57One mango,
02:59four,
03:02five mangoes.
03:03So much Indian customers coming, South Indian customers coming.
03:06That's why my staff, she's talking a little bit of Malayalam also,
03:10and she teaches to me Tagalog also.
03:13Even when we are talking in other languages,
03:16the customer is excited, their attention is given to that one.
03:20Every time I talk Malayalam, the people also smile at me,
03:26and then I can get more friends.
03:28We can attract people, high sales.
03:31When I came to Global Village for jobs,
03:34I didn't know English.
03:36My words were very, very simple,
03:39and I had problems with conversations with customers
03:42because it was really difficult.
03:45I started to understand.
03:47It was easy work because many people speak only English.
03:52Sometimes I have a customer who doesn't speak English,
03:56and it was difficult because I didn't understand Arabic,
04:01but I also started to understand Arabic.
04:05This is samphara.
04:07It's an Arabic scrub.
04:09Price, 580.
04:11Body butter cream with the butter shea.
04:14It's price, 700.
04:17I'm working four years in Global Village,
04:20and I learned in these four years,
04:24I learned four languages.
04:26Urdu, Persian, Arabic, and English.
04:29And some little Russian.
04:39Maybe I love you.
04:41I love to learn languages because
04:44if we can talk the same language, everybody,
04:48we can be friends, every nation, all nations.
04:51I learned three languages from Global Village.
04:55From this language, my English is getting better,
05:00and I learned Hindi and Russian.
05:03And when there are customers coming,
05:05Indian customers coming to here,
05:07they teach me some words.
05:09For example, when they are coming here,
05:11they say, before I went,
05:13I didn't know what's the name of the honey in Hindi.
05:16And they are telling me the name is Shahad.
05:22How are you? It means, how are you?
05:25How are you coming to here?
05:27Where are you going?
05:28New language, it's very good for sales.
05:32Because some customers, they are coming here,
05:34they cannot speak English.
05:36So if I teach some words, I can connect with them.
05:40There can be no better platform than the Global Village
05:43to learn a new language.
05:45It is such a melting pot
05:47with people from different cultures and backgrounds
05:49descending and interacting with each other.
05:52Learning their language
05:54is like discovering a whole new world.
05:57It breaks barriers,
05:59it brings a smile on their faces,
06:01and they open up to you like as if you were their friend.
06:05So the next time you want to learn this new skill,
06:08just head to the Global Village.
