00:00Hi, I'm Ed Clowes, I'm a reporter with Golf News, and we are sitting on the new Boeing
00:09777-300 for Emirates, unveiled on the first day of the Dubai Air Show.
00:14This is the new first class suite, it's an entirely all enclosed suite.
00:19This chair turns into a bed, and an enormous television here, three windows, and some binoculars
00:29and some noise cancelling headphones, and as you can see, this chair is currently turning
00:38into a flat bed, and I can go slightly reclined, so we have our refreshments here, and if you
00:47need to interact with a member of staff, you can simply pull this down like so, receive
00:56your dinner, or your lunch, and your drinks, and then back up again.
01:02Obviously you'll notice the three windows here for added visuals, you've got one control
01:09panel here, within this panel here, we have a selection of toiletries, a notepad, a pen,
01:19and some little things for doing work, and obviously the vanity mirror pops out of here,
01:29and then here we have space for luggage, for your shoes, for virtually whatever you want
01:41really, and that, and then here obviously we have some of the control panels, some more
01:52stowage space, some of the seat controls, and here I can dim the lights, I can dim the
02:01shutters, we can go fully dark, and then I can lift them back up again, and turn the
02:11mood lighting on here, make it brighter, make it brighter, and even brighter.
02:21We're in another one of the first class suites of the new Emirates Boeing 777-300 unveiled
02:27this morning at the Dubai Airshow, this one is already laid out as a bed, so as you can
02:31see the nice sheepskin quilt, the duvet, and a few pillows down here for resting your head on,
02:38the lighting as you can see is already set to ambient, and some sort of nice night mood
02:46lighting. One really interesting thing about this cabin is these three windows you see behind me,
02:52now one of the most innovative features of the new Boeing 300 was these optic fibre cameras,
03:01so these aren't actually real windows, we're in a central cabin, so right now we're in the middle
03:06of the plane and there are no actual windows, these are screens based on cameras on the outside
03:13of the plane that are relaying a high-res, high-definition video onto these screens,
03:19so what it feels like when you're flying is you'll see out the window clouds and the blue skies and
03:26so on and so forth, but in actual fact we're in the middle of the plane and there's no windows,
03:31and obviously we can choose what we see with these windows, we can have them looking out the left of
03:36the plane, we can have them looking out the right, and obviously right now because we're stationary
03:41on the ground this is showing us the tarmac, but you can see I mean it's ultra ultra high
03:46definition, we can see you know the Emirates logo here, we can see a man taking a photo down there,
03:53I mean it is seriously seriously good quality, and of course if you were actually on the plane
03:59in this central cabin you would really feel like you were looking out the window at the sky in just
04:06this incredibly rich high quality high-definition image, so this is a really innovative function,
04:12Sir Tim Clark the President of Emirates said this morning that this has never been done before in
04:17commercial airlines, it's been used somewhat in private jets and business jets, but this has never
04:23been done before on a commercial jet, so a real first here and a really impressive piece of kit
04:30for these first-class suites on the Boeing 777-300, this is the new economy class and as you can see
04:36they've gone for a nice blue colour coding and leather seats as opposed to the cloth ones before,
04:43the most impressive thing about the new economy class is the legroom and if you notice I'm six
04:50foot two and I have loads and loads of legroom down here, my knees are not even close to touching
04:58the seat in front of me, so these are just really really really spacious seats and as a really tall
05:05man I'm amazed that I have this much legroom in economy class, I mean the TVs are great, huge
05:12screens, the view is nice and the windows are obviously good, but really for me the most
05:17outstanding thing about this new economy class product is just the amount of legroom and it's
05:23really very impressive, huge plus for me as a tall person.
