00:22The festival took over the city for more than a week with screenings of 140 films from globally

00:31DIFF's closing night gala saw the most recent adventure from a galaxy far, far away, Star

00:35Wars The Last Jedi.

00:37The next installment in the Skywalker saga held its premiere in the UAE at the Manedat

00:42Jumeirah and was welcomed to the festival with Star Wars fans gathered in force.

00:48Characters from the decades-spanning franchise graced the red carpet as DIFF audiences turned

00:52out in their best Star Wars costumes.

00:55The closing day also recognized the excellence in regional filmmaking with the Muhur Awards

01:00ceremony.

01:01Sheikh Mansour bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum presented the prestigious Muhur Awards to

01:06the winners, which was held in the Souq Madinat Theatre at Manedat Jumeirah.

01:10Palestinian road film Wajib swept the Muhur Awards, winning the top 200,000 dirhams prize

01:15for Best Feature and splitting the jury on their Best Actor decision.

01:19Winning the Best Director in the Muhur Emirati category was Abdullah Al-Junaibi for his film

01:24Camera.

01:25Winner of the Best Emirati Feature went to Sharp Tools directed by Nujum Al-Ghanim, while

01:29Escape directed by Hana Al-Shatiri and Yaseer Al-Niyadi was named Best Muhur Emirati Short.

01:36Also awarded during the ceremony was Sanjay Shankar, who accepted the Young Journalist

01:40Award presented by DIFF and Gulf News for his work covering the festival.
