The folks over at Huawei sent over their latest flagship smartphone, the P20 pro, with a small challenge. They want to see if I would make the P20 the phone I carry with me. In other words, they think it’s so good they can get me to give up my iPhone X. See more at: http://gulfnews.com/videos

00:00Is this the Android phone that can finally make me give up my iPhone?
00:09Huawei thinks they can get me to give up my iPhone and to do that they've given me this.
00:14This is their new flagship the P20 Pro. It's the latest in Android. It runs Oreo.
00:20It has all kinds of nifty little features including a notch. It's rounded all the way
00:25around. Got no bezel and it looks like a pretty nice phone. Okay, challenge accepted. I like
00:31Androids. I used them before but I'm kind of tied into my phone now. I've been using the iPhone for
00:36about two, three years exclusively so it's going to be a little bit difficult but you know we'll
00:41give it the best go. Our first impression, this is one hell of a nice phone. It's powerful. It's
00:47beautiful and it has a camera we can't wait to take out of the box. It reminds me a lot of the
00:52iPhone X in fact that the more I touch it the more I keep thinking it's made to look like an
00:57Apple iPhone X. Despite the similar screen sizes the P20 Pro feels a lot bigger. It really isn't.
01:04It's only slightly wider than the iPhone X and maybe a little thicker but it's noticeably longer
01:09thanks to the addition of a thumb scanner. By the way, the thumb scanner is a great addition since
01:13it's incredibly fast. Faster than the thumb scanner on the iPhone 8 and not to put too sharp a point
01:19on it, it's faster than any type of facial recognition whether it's Apple or Android. The P20
01:25is a nice looking phone with curved edges all around but there are a few minor but noticeable
01:30design flaws. First, the screen isn't flush with the body which may not sound like much until you
01:36start swiping your thumb repeatedly over hard glass that is just a little bit above the rest
01:42of the body. The same goes with the thumb scanner which has hard edges. Okay, it's not a deal breaker.
01:48In terms of power, the P20 Pro is a beast and we mean that in the best possible way. It's powered
01:54by eight core processors paired with four gigabytes of RAM and it has a Mali G72 MP12 GPU.
02:03Just what is a Mali G72 MP12 GP? Well, it's one of ARM's fastest graphic processors so this thing
02:11runs all your apps incredibly fast. But the one thing we're really looking forward to trying out
02:17on this phone is the triple camera which some people are calling an iPhone killer. The first
02:22lens has a 40 megapixel color sensor followed by a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor with the third
02:30lens having an 8 megapixel color telephoto lens with optical image stabilization. Huawei says
02:37this camera can digitally zoom out to 5x without any loss of quality and the camera can also produce
02:43images with a higher dynamic range. So, will the P20 Pro make me give up my iPhone? We'll get back
02:49to you on that probably on the blog. But if the answer is no, it won't be because of any failing
02:55on the part of Huawei. If you're looking to upgrade an Android you already have, the P20 Pro
03:00is definitely a phone worth looking at.
