00:09We're here at the UAE premiere of Ulan, the highly anticipated new Filipino film
00:14starring Carlo Aquino and Nadine Lustre. It's a romantic, dramatic film that's received
00:20positive praise from critics and it begins in cinemas on March 21. It's the first time that
00:26Carlo Aquino appears alongside Nadine Lustre and it's the first time Lustre will be without her
00:31love team, James Reid. We'll be talking to some of the viewers after the screening to find out
00:36what they thought of the film.
00:37What did you think of the film?
00:57Yeah, it's a nice film because it's really amazing and the thing is from the superstitious belief
01:03they turn it into something like reality, which makes something really twist in the film. With
01:09regards to Miss Nadine, Maya, she kept the imagination into reality that makes everything
01:15into realistic things. The film is so different. It's artistic. It's not like a typical Filipino
01:23movie. It's not a typical love story. It's kind of different. You felt like it had more depth.
01:29It's quite artistic actually. It's good. I think it's kind of unique because it's not something you
01:35see in everyday cinemas, especially in the Philippines. In Holland, there's a little bit
01:43of fantasy touch in it and that's what makes it unique for the Philippine cinemas. I think
01:53the addition of fantasy actually made it better. Actually, it reminds me of my childhood,
01:58especially of my grandma because when we're young, our grandma tells us some stories,
02:04some suspicious beliefs that sometimes you think that it's real. It's happening in the real world,
02:11but yeah, this movie reminds me of my childhood. The film, obviously, Ulan means rain. What did
02:18the rain symbolize in your opinion? For me, it's like for the rain for me, it's something like if
02:23there's a burden in your life, it suddenly comes, but after the rain, there will always be a better
02:28thing that happens next. I think it just symbolizes what is happening with her life. It's not really
02:33it has something to do with her life. It has something to do with what is happening. I think
02:38how unlucky she was. I think it's just that. Did you like how they went between the past and the
02:45present? Yeah, actually, the transitions were so nice and it made the storytelling a little bit
02:52so much better. Did you think that Carlo Aquino did a good job without James Reid being in the
02:58film or did you miss James Reid? It's actually another love thing with this one is another
03:04thing. It's that we cannot compare the same thing that what they are doing with James Reid,
03:08but they are doing great together. It's the first time that I've watched Nadine out of the James
03:13Reid. But I think it's also nice to see them out of the love things so they can grow on their own.
03:20They have their chemistry. Actually, it's the first time for me to see them on screen
03:24and they're doing it very well. Yeah, you didn't miss James Reid?
03:30Maybe we have to give some chance for Nadine. Did you expect the ending? Do you think it was
03:35going to end that way? No, it's sad. The Filipino film, did you have a happy ending? Yeah, it's just sad.
03:42So we've heard from some of the viewers who just came out of Ulan, the premiere here in the UAE of
03:47the new Filipino romantic drama. Quite positive reactions from most of the viewers that we spoke
03:54to who praised the storytelling and the chemistry between Nadine Lustre and Carlo Aquino.
04:01My personal opinion, I enjoyed it. It was a good experience. One of my first Filipino films. So the
04:06film comes out on March 21st. You can catch it in cinemas around Dubai. Thanks very much for watching
04:12and see you at the next film review. Bye-bye.
