House of Perfumes and Dubai Creek House museums form the first phase of the Shindagha Museums Project.

00:00The Shindaga area of Dubai along the Dubai Creek holds a very real historical significance
00:07to the region and through the efforts of the Dubai Municipality has been remodeled and
00:11restored into a beautiful open-air museum showcasing different historical themes.
00:16We actually started this project in 2015 after the approval of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
00:21al-Ghashir.
00:22Basically, our aim is to revitalize the entire historic district and rehabilitate it to make
00:27it one of the major cultural destinations in Dubai and of course thinking way beyond
00:33that we are going to be expecting 20 million by 2020 and this will be one of the major
00:38cultural sites that will be open to the public for them to have.
00:41Open now are the Dubai Creek House, the origin of a city, which sheds light on the history
00:46of Dubai Creek and the role of the community and the rulers in its rise.
00:51It is done through more than 150 heritage historical artifacts, photographs and films
00:55of Dubai from the mid-20th century that tells the story of Dubai Creek.
01:00Also open is the House of Perfumes Museum, built from the home of the late Sheikha Sheikha
01:04bint Said al-Maktoum, who was an expert in perfume in her day.
01:08Now her former home, gifted to her by her brother the late Sheikh Rashid bin Said al-Maktoum,
01:14ruler of Dubai from 1958 to 1990 and vice president of the UAE from 1971 to 1990, will
01:20live on as a museum where guests can take in the various scents that trace their roots
01:25into antiquity, as the region was well known for perfumes.
01:28The Shendaga Museum project is a joint venture with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority
01:32and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and is set to be complete before
01:36Expo 2020.
01:37The whole historic houses, all these have been restored and all of them we have finished
01:43it.
01:44It's a total of 162 that has been restored.
01:51Most of the museums that we will see hopefully by the first quarter of 2020 will be ready
01:59for the public to come and visit.
02:03Opening hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to Thursday, except Tuesday and 2.30 p.m.
02:08to 9 p.m. on Fridays.
02:10Entry fees are 15 dirhams for both museums and 10 dirhams for a group having more than
02:1410 members, and free entry for senior citizens and people of determination.
