A few years ago, when Amanda Starace, 33, discovered she was pregnant after a difficult time conceiving, she knew she wanted to honor her grandma, who had prayed for her throughout the process. She scheduled lunch with her to share the exciting news, and her grandma was overjoyed.

00:17My grandma's name is Jean and my name is Amanda Jean and my mom was a single mom
00:27and my mom, you know, took care of me and helped raise me. And then when I had Lily, I
00:37felt like I needed to carry on the Jean. So we named her Lily Jean because my husband's grandma's
00:45name is Lily. And we both are very close with our grandmas. So we have grandma Jean and Amanda Jean
00:52and Lily Jean now. My grandma's super religious. So she had been praying for us and it took us a
00:59long time to get pregnant, almost a year. So, and she was, you know, she's so old. So as you know,
01:08another year passed, I was definitely worried that she wasn't going to make it. So when we
01:15found out we were pregnant, we took her out to lunch and we told her that if it was a boy,
01:20we were going to name him Joseph. And then we were like, but if it's a girl, we're going to
01:24name her, you know, after you, which she was just, you know, elated over. I came home from the
01:31hospital. I spent like two days in the hospital and I was like, called my mom and I was like,
01:35you need to bring grandma Jean here like right now. Cause we never know like how much time she
01:40has left. And she came and that was two years ago and she's still going. My daughter loves her.
01:48We see her. So we probably, I do try and go as often as I can. I probably go like once or twice
01:53a month. But she loves to FaceTime her all the time. And she's always calling her grandma Jean
02:00and she'll say like, like Lily Jean, like me, I'm Lily Jean, your grandma Jean. And they have a cute
02:06relationship together. They eat lunch together and they both like eat peanut butter and jelly.
02:12And she likes to visit her and just show her all the things that she can do and, you know,
02:17like read with her and try and like incorporate my grandma into almost everything I can like with
02:22Lily. Cause I want her to remember her too, but they do, they have a really sweet relationship
02:28and it's kind of like a full circle from my grandma taking care of me. And then, you know,
02:33being able to help me with my daughter and do things with my daughter. It's just, you know,
02:38it's really everything I could have asked for.
