Dubai Police on Wednesday reminded motorists to benefit from the 50 per cent discount on traffic fines until March 1 this year. Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department, said the discount aims to encourage drivers to pay the fines, get car insurance and re-register their vehicles.

00:00The Dubai Police Discount Initiative was launched on February 6, 2019.
00:09It launched to encourage drivers not to commit any traffic offences and they will be rewarded
00:14by discount on their accumulated fines.
00:20When the initiative started, if the driver after February 6, 2019 didn't commit any
00:25traffic offences, then he will be eligible for a 25% discount on the traffic fines.
00:31After six months, the driver will be eligible for a 50% discount.
00:35After nine months, the driver will be eligible for a 75% discount on accumulated traffic
00:40fines.
00:41After one year of February 6, 2019, you will be eligible to get a 100% discount on your
00:46accumulated traffic fines.
00:51Offences like Salt Lake and parking tickets or Dubai Municipality tickets, it's not part
00:55of the initiative.
00:56Any offences by RTA or other departments is not part of the initiative.
00:59The initiative is only for traffic fines committed in Dubai.
01:06If you've been a good driver for a while, for three months, let's say, so you'll be
01:11eligible for a 25% discount.
01:13If you commit a traffic offence after three months, then you will get the last discount
01:18that you get, which is the 25% discount.
01:23All drivers in the UAE will be part of this initiative if they commit a traffic offence
01:29inside Dubai, so they can enjoy the discount on their traffic offences that happened in
01:35Dubai.
