00:31I'm very honoured to get this award, this Tolerance Award of Sheikh Mohammed today
00:41to support our activities with the Global Tolerance Initiative.
00:46The book is one element, another is Art of Tolerance, another is a documentary, Love is Tolerance.
00:54We all have to promote tolerance active, not with words, with many actions.
01:00And one of the actions we are planning here is to place the first large globe of tolerance
01:07as a piece of art and to name a place of tolerance in Dubai and in Abu Dhabi.
01:15And on the globe we have 20 different codes of tolerance,
01:19including Sheikh Zayed from the rulers of the Emirates,
01:23as well as from famous people like Voltaire in French, Alexander Solzhenitsyn in Russian,
01:29or Immanuel Kant in German, or the Dalai Lama or Confucius in Chinese.
01:35It shows that we have a common soul, the common soul of our world is respect, tolerance, humanity.
01:44We should never forget it and we should fight for it.
01:47And we have to stand up for tolerance and love and contain the few radicals.
01:53We leave them too much room to manoeuvre, we should basically roll them back
01:58and convince others that the best way is respect tolerance towards other religions,
02:03ethnic minorities, races and people who are different than us.
02:09I'm Rani Ali, I'm currently in Dubai, I just won the tolerance award.
02:14Tolerance is very important to me and it has always been a priority because of my experience I would say,
02:22and because of what I've seen, because of what I've observed and how important tolerance is nowadays.
02:29I mean when we look around we see how hate is prevailing in a lot of public discourse.
02:35So encouraging the young people or the general public to be more tolerant has never been more important in my opinion.
02:43If we would like to see a world that is peaceful and at least people accepting each other,
02:49we need to invest in that.
02:51Because of my experience I would say and because of what I've seen,
02:56because of what I've observed and how important tolerance is nowadays.
03:01I mean when we look around we see how hate is prevailing in a lot of public discourse.
03:07So encouraging the young people or the general public to be more tolerant has never been more important in my opinion.
03:15If we would like to see a world that is peaceful and at least people accepting each other,
03:21we need to invest in that.
03:24And what about your current projects?
03:27I am currently working on my main and always has been work sphere,
03:35women empowerment and rights and refugees rights.
03:38I'm currently working on projects on debunking myths surrounding Middle Eastern women.
03:43As a Middle Eastern woman I know how much it is misinterpreted and misrepresented our image is in the world.
03:52So it is obviously again of a paramount priority for me to work on that.
03:59At the same time alongside that refugees rights,
04:04which I plan to keep doing until something else changes.
04:12With this event, the awarding of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award,
04:19it is actually an opportunity to address the international community and all communities
04:25that we live in a world where there is a lot of conflicts, man-made and natural disasters.
04:31I think it's a time for us all together to think and revisit our core principles.
04:37We have to live in love, we have to live to be more forgiveness,
04:43we have to be more tolerant and also we have to help those who are in need across the board.
04:49There is no question that without being open to the others in different communities,
04:56not looking at their colors, religion, boundaries, you can add more
05:01because your aim is to help mankind wherever they are.
05:05We have to work hard to follow the principles of all religions,
05:10Islamic religion teaches us that to help those who are in need irrespective of where they are.
05:17This is the teaching which is coming from God to all religions.
05:22It has been changed by us human beings so it's our duty to go back to be more noble,
05:30more tolerant and more forgiving and more giving and providing.
