The SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team prepared to storm a tower with a sniper to provide cover and entered a building where a group of terrorists had taken someone hostage. The team broke into the tower and climbed down while shots were fired and commanders shouted out to cross the finish line. This simulation was played out at the Dubai Police’s Al Ruwaiyah Training Centre off Emirates Road as SWAT commandos from 26 countries showed off their tactical and physical skills in five tasks representing different scenarios.

00:00I'm Ali Shook from Gulf News. We are here at Dubai Police Arrawiya training field
00:05where SWAT teams from 26 countries all around the world they come competing
00:10each other showing their SWAT skills. The competition this year was really tense
00:15was really hard because SWAT teams they came prepared for this year competition.
00:20This is the second edition and we have men and one woman from the Chilean SWAT
00:25team. They were here competing each other in rescuing hostages and overcoming
00:29obstacles and taking over the tower. We caught up with the commander-in-chief
00:33of Dubai Police to learn more about the event. I think this year competition it's
00:38a great event I mean the number of teams restored the 46 team from the 26
00:46country which we didn't find it in any other SWAT competition to have like
00:5426 teams and international teams I mean it's really great event to have that
01:02interact being in at the range here for five days communicating seeing other
01:08other tactical teams not only how they deal with the scenario or with the
01:14event itself but to I mean to have that communication with them and to build
01:19that relation in between the law enforcement this is the target and the
01:24goal of this competition here. We will work on it inshallah for the next years
01:29not next year only the impact and the outcome of this competition it's really
01:35really great I mean I mean not about winning but about the relation in
01:39between all law enforcement in here.
01:49Thanks to Allah, today is Thursday and we have a special day for the hostages and the teams.
02:00Thanks to Allah, we will have a lot of fun in the hostages and I wish good luck to all.
02:07So how the level of competition this year?
02:09The level of the competition this year is very high. We have many teams that are here to bring the first place.
02:16Last year you know most of the teams are coming to see the challenge and they go
02:20back to their countries they prepare for this year especially the
02:23Russian teams they are really really good teams but Dubai team last year was
02:30number one and till now before the last event we are number one who is still number one.
02:36What's the advantages that the UAE-Dubai SWAT team get from this year?
02:44The advantages that you are sharing experience between the world war teams and special teams
02:50units so you know what's the new weapons what the new like gears they are using
02:54it's good to share experience and to compete.
02:57After five days of a grueling competition SWAT teams from all around the world they gave their best they even made a
03:04friendship and they are looking to come for the next year edition even stronger.
