Im rumänischen Drama To the North entdeckt ein gläubiger philippinischer Seemann während einer transatlantischen Überfahrt den jungen Dumitru (Nikolai Becker), der sich als blinder Passagier eingeschmuggelt hat. Dumitru hält eine Bibel umklammert, und so lässt sich der Seemann darauf ein, seine Anwesenheit geheimzuhalten - was dem jungen Mann das Leben retten könnte, ihn selbst aber gefährdet.
