00:00Right, Andy, we'll start with you first up.

00:04I know it's an obvious question, but what made Rajat the obvious choice for being the

00:08captain of RCB?

00:09I'm obviously going to talk about a lot of the positive things about Rajat here, so I

00:15hope I don't embarrass you too much.

00:18I'm sorry, I'm just going to get this mic a little closer.

00:23I could say, I could speak for quite a long time about Rajat, but I've settled on three

00:29main things that I thought might be interesting to share.

00:33The first one is, there's a calmness and a simplicity to Rajat that I think will stand

00:42him in really good stead as a leader and a captain, particularly in the IPL.

00:49As we know, the IPL is one of the premier competitions in the world, and there's pressures

00:55involved in that.

00:57And I think the calm, simple demeanour that inherently lives within Rajat is going to

01:06serve him really well in the hurly-burly of that tournament.

01:11And his decision-making will be tested, like all of ours is, but I think these qualities

01:17will stand him in really good stead.

01:19We watched Rajat very closely as he captained Mudhya Pradesh in the Said Mushtaq Ali tournament,

01:27and we really liked what we saw around those qualities.

01:32The second thing I'd say about him, and he's inherently quite a quiet guy, but observing

01:40him, he cares about the people around him.

01:43He cares about the people that he plays with, that he shares a dressing room with, and I

01:47think that's a quality that means that he will instantly have the respect and care from

01:56other people, and that as a leader, those qualities are important in that people will

02:04follow you and get behind you.

02:06And then the third thing that stands out for me about him is that he's got a stubbornness

02:14and a strength and a steeliness about him.

02:20I've seen it myself when I'm trying to coach him in the nets, and he won't listen to me.

02:25But you see it in the way that he plays.

02:29You see the bravery with which he takes on the game, and I think that quality within

02:35him will be really important for him through the ups and downs, the inevitable ups and

02:42downs that come along with playing in the IPL, and now stepping up another gear into

02:50leading a big franchise in the IPL.

02:55So I think those qualities, Navneet, are going to stand Rajat in good stead.

02:59We recognize them, we will celebrate them, and I really look forward to watching him

03:06in action.
