00:00Hi, my name's Russell Allen. I'm the Head of Libraries and Heritage at West Sussex County Council.
00:04We're here in Burgess Hill Library today because we're celebrating the launch of our centenary year.
00:08So it's 100 years to the day since West Sussex County Council first started a county-wide library service.
00:14Amongst the other activities we're doing throughout the year, we have a virtual reality programme,
00:18which will be travelling around all of our libraries.
00:20It's an immersive experience which lets you jump into five different storybooks
00:24where you can have an experience and an adventure, and they each bring you back to the library.
00:29So we're really looking forward to welcoming people into our libraries all year,
00:32have a go with the virtual reality, but also to celebrate our libraries being 100 years and at the heart of their community.
00:42Oh look, there's a West Sussex Gazette from the year 1925.
00:51I love apples, but I don't have shillings.
00:57What is a shilling?
01:00Oh look, it's a post office.
01:03I wonder if we could send ourselves a letter and receive it in the future.
