00:00Hello everyone, this is Anjana Kumar from Gulf News and with me is Huda Al Matrooshi
00:10and who is she?
00:11She is the owner of IMAX car service garage in the industrial area 1 of Sharjah.
00:18She is the owner of this garage and she is one of the only women mechanics in the UAE.
00:26How interesting is that?
00:27We are here to understand as to how she has made such a big success of an otherwise man's
00:34world career.
00:35Tell us how it all started.
00:36I know that when you were 9 you were repairing car toys.
00:39First of all, thank you all of you and appreciate who came to me and say thank you and congratulations
00:49about your job.
00:51So Alhamdulillah about my garage, I am not a mechanical but until now I try to learn.
01:01That job is not easy but Alhamdulillah I put that challenge between myself.
01:05There is nothing that is impossible Alhamdulillah and I will try my best to do everything that
01:11is good for this environment and for the people and give them a good acknowledgement about
01:17the cars.
01:18Did you study for mechanical engineering?
01:21No, never at all.
01:23Just this, the life, this is study from the life and also this from the, you know, that's
01:33qualification I take it just when I take the cars, I try to fix it and by myself from here,
01:41from that, he's told me to do like this from the different peoples.
01:45So Alhamdulillah, I learn from the garage, different garage.
01:51Was it a challenge for you when you were growing up, sort of convincing your family that you
01:55wanted to get into something like this?
01:57Yes, I need to make a big centre and take care, big centre for the car, take care of
02:08the car from A to Z.
02:11So Inshallah I will do it, Inshallah, I mean soon, Inshallah also I need to do that big
02:20centre service for the car and different Emirates in UAE.
02:24How is your business currently?
02:25Currently, I cannot say it's good or not, this is in between and you know the COVID-19,
02:33I try to improve myself and to improve my garage.
02:37How many hours in a day do you spend in the garage?
02:39Normally, days from 9 till 1 and from 4 till 9.
02:47So Huda, it's interesting that you are wearing an abaya and fixing cars, so how practical
02:55is that?
02:57About the abaya, there is no any problem with the abaya because you know that's fabric,
03:03it's similar of the overall or a safety dress for the mechanical.
03:09But because you know, for example, I will do something here in the car but I need the
03:16spare part, there I have to go with my private car to go to that spare part, so I have to
03:22change it correctly, so this one it's easier for me and it's safety also for me.
03:29The fabric, it's the same fabric for that mechanical clothes.
03:35How interesting is this profession?
03:37Do you know someone who is also doing something really different and interesting?
03:42Do let us know.
03:43This is Anjana Kumar for Gulf News.
