00:00Michael Major, been at Dubai Creek since 2015, so coming up to seven years now.
00:12I'm the Director of Golf here at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.
00:18We're here today for the PING Dubai Creek Summer Open that we've had at the club since,
00:24I think it's 2011, the first one.
00:27Since then we've had a number of fairly high profile winners at the event.
00:31Rahan Thomas won the event in 2014, as well as a number of club champions here at Dubai Creek.
00:39The event itself, the stroke play event, a gross event.
00:43One in which we feel we can host here at Dubai Creek because it's a bit cooler in the summer
00:47with the breeze off the creek.
00:53We're lucky enough to have 78 golfers enter the tournament, which is great for an event in August.
00:58The event coincides with our snow maintenance program.
01:07We had our snow maintenance at the end of June and we've got our next maintenance next week.
01:12It allows us to have the golf course in the best condition we can for this time of year.
01:17We're trying to aim for a firm and fast golf course here at Dubai Creek
01:20and we feel we've got that ready for the season and certainly right now.
01:30Dubai Creek is a European Tour destination.
01:33It's great for our members to go travel around the world and play at other European Tour destinations for a reciprocal rate.
01:39Of course the same goes for their members to come here and we always welcome them with open arms.
01:44It's great for Dubai Creek to be on that list of prestigious clubs.
01:48It's great for the club to have that name with it and we're lucky to have that as part of our benefits.
01:57Good evening ladies and gentlemen and a very warm welcome to Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club
02:04for the Ping Dubai Creek Summer Open.
02:07Please have your attention for a few minutes while I get the prize giving underway.
02:11A big thank you all for playing today.
02:13It's 78 degrees out there, the weather was boiling.
02:16So well done for all of you for making it around.
02:18A round of applause for you all.
02:20This is our flagship event of the summer.
02:22We try and tie it well in between events.
