00:00We're here at St Mary's the Mount in Warsaw and we have with us Marie Claire, Wendy Jones and this behind me, so you two are Visiting Artists, Marie what's going on, why have you got artists down here today?
00:15So we have got a creative workshop that has been sponsored by the BBC Children in Need, so the whole idea of this workshop is to promote wellness, so we've got the young people to come and get creative and just tell us about how they feel through art
00:35and a lot of the people that we work with are people that have chronic illnesses and Plasma Republic is a charity that supports people with sickle cell, but here we don't just have people with sickle cell, we have the community, we have families and friends, so we want the children to just tell us, just express themselves through art
00:58and sometimes, it's not every time that they want to tell you how they feel, but we find that it's easier for them to put it in drawing and painting, so that's why we're here.
01:09And artists, so you're working ultimately towards a large canvas at the end of the day aren't you?
01:13Yeah, well it's something we thought, what kids like and what people like is to take something home with them, but also to spread the word and the message because Marie Claire goes out in the community a lot and to take the banner along with the pop up things, but everybody that we thought everyone should take something home, so we've got lots of little canvases, we've had warm ups, we've had loads of mess, the best bits
01:42and this is something where we're working in different groups, we're mixed around, you do a lot of pen work and I do a lot of sculpture as well, so we're looking at things, you know, the kids can go where they like, it's not school, they can go and do whatever medium they like and they're being very creative.
01:59So are you learning things, are they inspiring you?
02:04It's a very inspiring experience as well, we've divided them into groups and so they have different tools, we have pastels, we have paints, we have pens, we have highlighters, stickers as well, so we just allow them to do what they want and express their creativity and promote the theme of wellness.
02:26Awesome work guys, well we'll let you crack on, well done, thank you to all involved, cheers guys, I know, I know, paint all over your trousers, I don't know.
