00:00All right, let's move to the National League for Cy Young 2025 Futures.
00:05Paul Skeens at the top, plus 220, deserves to be there.
00:07Then there's Zach Wheeler, Blake Snell, Chris Sell, Corbin Burns, Yamamoto, Alcantara.
00:14You and I are going to have some names here, and then I'm going to throw one that isn't
00:17on this list.
00:18Let's go.
00:19Who's your favorite?
00:20Who's your long shot?
00:21Yeah, I'm going to fade Skeens.
00:23I love Paul Skeens.
00:24It's a great story.
00:26He's super exciting.
00:29Everybody's watching.
00:30Will he have Tommy John at some point?
00:32Probably.
00:33I mean, all these guys are 101 miles an hour due, so I don't want to put that evil on Ricky
00:37Bobby or anybody else, but I just feel like it's something you've got to really consider.
00:41So instead, I'm going to pivot to the guys that are getting it done.
00:44And two guys that I love are the favorites here, getting massive, massive value on, is
00:49Zach Wheeler and Blake Snell, plus 700 and plus 800.
00:52That is a huge return on investment.
00:55You sprinkle a unit on both of these guys here, and to me, it's a better investment
00:58than just going straight into Paul Skeens.
01:00I like this so much better because, you know, these guys are going to be on teams that are
01:04going to win more than 85 games, probably more than 90 games.
01:08Wheeler's been at the top of this list for a while, trying to crack it, and Snell's already
01:13won this award a few times.
01:14So we're talking about Blake Snell now on the Dodgers with all that support, all that
01:19bullpen.
01:20How does he not come close to 20 wins?
01:22I don't know.
01:23So I think those two guys are really at the top for a reason.
01:27To me, that's my major focus.
01:29If I had a long shot, it would be Sandy Alcantara plus 4,000, but it would be him being traded
01:35to a team in the National League and continuing to be better and kind of carrying that team
01:41in the second half.
01:42But for now, I'm looking at those two guys, Snell and Wheeler, and I'd rather bet both
01:47of them than any other favorite or long shot.
01:50It's great logic, as it always is from you.
01:52Lest we forget that Shohei Otani could start pitching in May and then just run away with
01:56this thing, because why not?
01:58So I think that Paul Skeens is the chalk here at plus 220.
02:01I'm not saying you'd wager on it, but sometimes there's just some obvious things.
02:04And I think Skeens, knock wood, has a rubber arm.
02:07I really do.
02:08I'm hopeful that he doesn't fall into this category.
02:09I want him to break the trend of all of these guys having Tommy John.
02:13My long shot, though, is on Justin Steele at plus 4,000.
02:17I think the Cubs should score runs.
02:19I think Imanaga takes pressure off of Steele being a one, and I think Presley gives you
02:23win equity.
02:25Justin Steele's the kind of guy that can make people go, oh yeah, him.
02:29Joe?
02:30I love Justin Steele, and not just because he's a big fantasy football guy and he's come
02:35on shows and hung out with us.
02:38It's because he's one of the most underrated pitchers in fantasy baseball.
02:42If you want to talk to currently, let's pull up his ADP.
02:45Steele right now is the 37th pitcher going off the board.
02:49Spencer Strider's going after him in the next pick, but Steele's going to be there for six
02:53months.
02:54Strider's going to be there for what?
02:55Three at best?
02:56I don't understand that.
02:58He's in that same grouping as Grayson Rodriguez, Hunter Brown, Justin Steele, Joe Ryan, Carlos
03:04Rodon.
03:05To me, this is a real sweet spot of pitching, and I'm somebody who likes to go early on
03:08offense in my drafts, and this is the reason why.
03:12It's because you're getting value of all these guys who could pitch like number one.
03:16Steele's capable of going out there and being a one.
03:18Hunter Brown, throw out April.
03:20Hunter Brown was one of the best pitchers in baseball, so there's a lot of value here.
03:24Outside of the top 30.
03:25In fact, let me rattle off this list here.
03:27From 30 on, Spencer Schwellenbach, Zach Gowan, a guy who has competed for Cy Young's before,
03:32Sonny Gray coming off a great year, Sazaki, I think that's a little inflated personally.
03:37I'm just not quite there yet.
03:39Joe Ryan, Grayson Rodriguez, Hunter Brown, Justin Steele, Carlos Rodon, Senga, Jack Flaherty,
03:44and then you got Otani, McClanahan, and Spencer Strider in this grouping too.
03:49You can build a rotation by taking a couple of these guys in those rounds and still mount
03:55an incredible offense.
03:56The problem is if you go early pitching, you're missing out on those big offensive players,
04:01and it's much harder to make up ground there than it is in the rotation.
04:03Well, let me ask before we go to break, is there, I mean, to me, I would reach for schemes
04:08if I have anything after like nine or 10, I would reach for schemes, but beyond that,
04:12there isn't a reachable pitcher.
04:13Maybe we could talk about that on the other side, Joe.
04:16Maybe Scooble is reachable, but to me, again, I'd rather have those offensive players.
