00:00Hello, Dexter.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:07And today we're counting down our picks for the TV shows that threw us a curveball that just didn't make much sense.
00:13This list is riddled with spoilers, so here's a spoiler alert.
00:17We just couldn't see putting that father, that family, through any more of this.
00:23Barely it was all of us.
00:25What do you want to do?
00:2510. Bobby is Alive – Dallas
00:31The life and times of the wealthy Ewing family had America wrapped throughout the 1980s.
00:36When Bobby Ewing was killed at the end of the eighth season, it was huge news.
00:44Then, after a whole ninth season without him, he just shows up in his wife's shower.
00:49When I woke up, I thought that you were dead.
00:53What?
00:54I had a nightmare, a terrible nightmare.
00:57Viewers had to wait for months to learn that everything we'd watched between his death and his
01:02return had actually only ever been his would-be widow's extended nightmare.
01:06It meant that none of the stories we'd followed for weeks until then even mattered.
01:11Not only was the whole thing frustrating, it meant that we had to go back and erase
01:15an entire season's worth of relationships, conflict, and character development from our brains.
01:21Don't ever leave me.
01:24I won't.
01:26I love you.
01:309. The Sonic Screwdriver – Doctor Who
01:34Rory! Listen, she's not dead.
01:36Well, she is dead, but it's not the end of the world.
01:39Well, it is the end of the world. Actually, it's the end of the universe.
01:42Oh no, hang on.
01:44Time travel and interdimensional wormholes can have the potential to get messy.
01:49In all iterations, the Doctor in Doctor Who battles all manner of supernatural creatures,
01:55and typically escapes by the skin of their teeth.
01:58But fans had to wonder about the fortuitous solution in the episode The Big Bang.
02:02Here, the 11th Doctor finds himself in a seemingly inescapable situation,
02:07but he quite simply travels back from the future to give his companion,
02:11Rory, the Sonic Screwdriver that Rory ultimately uses to free him.
02:15It's easy to open from the outside, just point and press.
02:19Now go.
02:25Oh, and when you're done, leave my screwdriver in her top pocket.
02:28Good luck.
02:30What do you mean?
02:32The day is saved, but the paradox is clear,
02:34and we're left to wonder if there are ever any especially high stakes to the Doctor's adventures.
02:39If they can just time travel and serve up a deus ex machina whenever it's needed.
02:44How did you do that?
02:46You gave me this?
02:48No, I didn't.
02:49Number 8.
02:50Marion's Death.
02:51Pretty Little Liars.
02:53Oh, it's that goody two-shoes Miss Cavanaugh.
02:55She can't see me like this, you have to help me!
02:58The sixth and penultimate season finally solves the ongoing mystery
03:02around the death of Toby Cavanaugh's mother Marion, or did it?
03:06In the show, Bethany Young is revealed to have pushed Marion off a roof years before.
03:16Oh my God.
03:22Bethany, what did you do?
03:24What did I do?
03:26You pushed her!
03:28Freak!
03:30The circumstances are fraught and filled with drama to be sure,
03:34but the revelation also poses a significant timing problem.
03:37Toby is supposed to have been a child when his mother dies.
03:40However, Marion Cavanaugh was seen in a flashback from season four,
03:44and Toby is well into his teenage years at that time.
03:47It just doesn't match up.
03:49For a show with this many mysteries and puzzles for viewers to solve,
03:52it's a pretty glaring error.
03:55I'm just a little tired.
03:57No, you're not just a little tired, Mom.
03:59I think something's going on with you.
04:03Number 7.
04:04Hannah's Return.
04:05Dexter.
04:06I feel kind of empty.
04:09Dad?
04:14Hello, Dexter.
04:17Dexter Morgan almost met his match in Hannah McKay,
04:20who becomes his lover and deadly accomplice.
04:23By the end of the seventh season though,
04:25Hannah is implicated in a murder and makes a daring escape from justice.
04:29I'd like to talk to you about Wayne Randall.
04:32What a surprise.
04:34He's the detective, what are you?
04:36Uh, lab geek.
04:37You'd think such a high-profile fugitive would want to stay undercover for a while.
04:42Not so apparently.
04:43The very next season, Dexter awakes from having his drink spiked,
04:47only to see Hannah standing over him.
04:49It's a pretty fun twist, but it falls apart once you think about it.
04:52Not only is Hannah just out in public,
04:54but she's married to a pretty high-profile businessman.
04:57There's nothing undercover about her.
04:59If this is living life as a fugitive, she's doing it on hard mode.
05:03Dexter Morgan.
05:05Maggie's told me about you.
05:08Oh?
05:08How you were her boyfriend until you betrayed her,
05:11turning her into the police.
05:13Quite a predicament you left her in.
05:15Number 6.
05:16Bailey fires everyone.
05:18Grey's Anatomy.
05:19I forged the name on Gabby's paperwork.
05:21No, no, no.
05:22It was not- it was not.
05:24It was me.
05:24No, it was me.
05:25I forged it.
05:26Alex, stop that!
05:27For more than 20 seasons,
05:29the physicians at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital
05:32haven't just bent the rules of the medical industry.
05:35They've broken, mocked, and smashed them to pieces on numerous occasions.
05:40Not only that, but the people in power at this hospital
05:42seem to believe their doctors are so good,
05:44they can just look the other way on major ethical violations.
05:48You're fired.
05:50What?
05:51Who's fired?
05:53All three of you.
05:55You're all fired.
05:56So when Dr. Bailey fires Meredith Grey, Richard Weber,
06:00and Alex Karev over some minor insurance fraud,
06:03it feels like a weird time for her to enforce the rules.
06:06It's especially crazy since we've literally seen Bailey herself
06:09commit insurance fraud in season five.
06:12I know I'm supposed to get a CT,
06:14but if we start the surgery after midnight, he's not covered.
06:16We're basically bankrupting him.
06:18I say we skip the CT.
06:19Oh, you say- you say- no, you don't say, you ask,
06:22and the answer is we don't skip on medicine to save money.
06:25Get the CT.
06:26Number 5.
06:27Melisandre's Necklace.
06:28Game of Thrones.
06:36Introduced in the second season,
06:38this mysterious enchantress was a major player in the battle for the Iron Throne.
06:42It's revealed in the sixth season that Melisandre's youthful looks
06:46are the result of a magic spell.
06:48Once she removes her enchanted choker,
06:50she reverts to her true form,
06:52taking on a much older, decrepit appearance.
06:55But eagle-eyed viewers were confused.
06:57Back in season four,
06:59Melisandre was seen in a bath very much without her necklace,
07:02and back then she was still her usual youthful self.
07:06No, no, no, not that one.
07:08You don't even want to touch that one.
07:10Next to it.
07:11Although fans did at one time rally to explain theories as to why,
07:16Melisandre actress Carice Van Houten herself has called this an oops moment.
07:21It's still somehow not as bad as a mistake as that Starbucks cup though.
07:25I can't speak for the flames, but he's gone.
07:33Number 4.
07:34Claire's Death.
07:36Heroes Reborn.
07:39The original heroes went through great pains to show us how Claire Bennett was virtually
07:48indestructible.
07:50And of course, there was the often repeated line,
07:53save the cheerleader, save the world.
07:55But by the end of Heroes Reborn, that had all changed.
07:59Through a convoluted series of events,
08:01Claire ends up dying in childbirth before the events of the ill-conceived revival series.
08:06I might, I might not be ready.
08:09Melina, the storms will only get worse.
08:13The world will need your power soon.
08:16Again, one of the constants of the show was her invincibility.
08:20So to see that this was just quickly explained away by off-screen events
08:23was a little too difficult to believe.
08:26We're talking about a character here who had woken up from her own autopsy
08:30and walked away from a nuclear blast.
08:32But all of that was apparently forgotten.
08:36Hi.
08:43Mom.
08:46Mom.
08:49We gotta get you out of here.
08:51Number three, the prom video.
08:53Friends.
08:54Okay, you guys, you know, I think we've seen enough.
08:56Let's turn it off.
08:56No, no, no, let's stay in line.
08:58Okay, fine.
08:58Well, I'm not gonna watch, all right?
08:59The plot twist that Ross had already gotten to be Rachel's emergency date for prom
09:04finally opened up her eyes to how much he cared for her,
09:07and for how long.
09:09But the prom videotape at the center of the episode
09:11opened up a Pandora's box of plot holes
09:14regarding Chandler Bing's history with the core friend group.
09:17Oh, um, that was my bathing suit from high school.
09:21I was a little bigger then.
09:24Oh, I thought that's what they used to cover Connecticut when it rained.
09:27Chandler's shock over Monica's weight definitely doesn't make much sense.
09:31As other episodes established that Chandler met Monica during that period,
09:35so why would he be so surprised here?
09:38Oh, this is Monica.
09:40Hi, I'm Ross's little sister.
09:43Okay.
09:46Number two, it was all a book.
09:49Roseanne.
09:50When Darlene met Mark, I thought he went better with Becky.
09:53Get me a beer.
09:54Get it yourself, slob.
09:56I guess I was wrong.
09:57In its ninth season, this working-class sitcom family won the lottery,
10:01but the show stumbled to a frustrating and increasingly surreal series finale.
10:07In one of the most bizarre retcons in TV history,
10:10Roseanne Connor reveals that the final season,
10:12and even much of the later seasons,
10:14were actually only plot points in a novel she'd been writing.
10:18Stories and characters we'd come to love
10:20were then totally rewritten in these last few moments.
10:23She swapped her daughter's real-life partners,
10:26undoing years of character development,
10:28and even killed off her beloved husband Dan.
10:31I lost Dan last year when he had his heart attack.
10:40He's still the first thing I think about when I wake up,
10:43and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep.
10:47It opened up more questions than answers,
10:49and when the show returned in 2018,
10:52the writers somewhat smartly retconned the retcon.
10:55Dan!
10:56What?
10:57I thought you were dead.

11:16Number 1.
11:17Dan is somehow gossip girl.
11:19Gossip girl.
11:20I'd overheard enough conversations to be able to mimic the language of the Constance girls.
11:25Every writer needs his muse,
11:27and it wasn't until that photo of Serena in the white dress
11:30that I knew I had something strong enough to actually create a legend.
11:34It was a long-anticipated series finale,
11:37promising one of modern TV's most intriguing reveals.
11:41But the show's writers dropped a massive, nonsensical bomb
11:45when they finally revealed Dan Humphrey as the eponymous gossip blogger.
11:49They tried their best to make this make sense,
11:51but anyone who'd paid even a little bit of attention over the years
11:54could poke holes in this clumsiest of plot twists.
11:58For one thing, Dan was victimized by Gossip Girl as much as anyone.
12:01He was as upset by their post as any other character,
12:05even when he was alone.
12:06Call us old school,
12:07but sometimes the fairy tale ending requires the knight
12:10to get off his ass and saddle up his steed.
12:14There were moments where Dan was being outright blackmailed by Gossip Girl too,
12:19and communicating with them over text.
12:21There were just so many moments that,
12:23after the reveal, totally fell apart.
12:28That's from her.
12:30Open it.
12:35Well, I guess we have our mission.
12:37Did any of these plot holes get you upset all over again?
12:41Let us know in the comments.
12:42I'm so sorry, I really am.
12:44But come on, I was an idiot back then.
12:46I rushed the stage, had a wham concert for crying out loud.
12:51Do you agree with our picks?
