00:00I'm a huge Alabama Shakes fan.
00:02There's no music has been announced officially, but there's a tour.
00:08What is going on behind the scenes here?
00:10You know, we always like to keep things mysterious.
00:13And that's just what we're doing, but I'll let you know,
00:16I'll tell the people that we are cooking and we are brewing.
00:20Any producers that you're working with that you can share?
00:24Oh, nothing like that to share.
00:27What has it been like to reunite and be in the studio together?
00:31Is it like you pick up right where you left off,
00:34or you've done solo albums in between?
00:37How does that all work?
00:39I just say it's been fun being around the guys again.
00:43It's probably been about seven to eight years
00:47since we've all spent time together as a group.
00:50And it's been really fun seeing how everyone's aged
00:53and some of our soft spots and some of our hard spots.
00:56It's pretty cool just seeing what kind of adult people we've become.
01:01How did that performance on Friday with Miley Cyrus come together?
01:04That was exciting.
01:06Oh, you know, me and Miley were doing some work together,
01:08and she called me up and invited me to come through and do it,
01:11which was incredibly nice of her.
01:13And I was like, of course.
01:15And so, yeah, we've been hanging out, and I think Miley's awesome,
01:18and performing with her is incredible.
01:20So, yeah, recommend.
01:22It seems like when you do shows like that,
01:24and you also did the Grammys recently, those big live telecasts,
01:28you have to really be prepared for when things don't go right.
01:32And it seems like you are kind of a pro at that at this point.
01:36Oh, you've got to be a pro for when things go wrong.
01:38I'll tell you what, this ain't my first rodeo.
01:40It wasn't my first awards show.
01:42It wasn't my first big show with 15 bands.
01:44It was just like, oh, this is not, you know, this, this, this, this, whatever.
01:48We're all here as a team to help each other out.
01:51It's just like you just go with the flow, you know, water off a duck's back.
01:54Alabama Shakes first performed on the show, I think, over ten years ago,
01:58was the first time.
02:00Can you talk about, like, how that performance influenced the band's trajectory,
02:05if at all?
02:06You know, a lot of bands in the Questlove documentary,
02:08we're talking about how important of a stage it is.
02:11I think it's huge.
02:12So many people watch SNL.
02:14It's like an institution in our society, Saturday Night Live, you know.
02:18And as a young band, getting to play a stage like that in front of the world,
02:22it was surreal.
02:25And then also seeing my hometown, which is in Athens, Alabama,
02:30seeing how proud they were of us and our family and how proud they were of us,
02:33it really kind of let everything that was happening to us sink in.
02:36And it was a beautiful moment.
02:38And I owe a lot of great things to it.
02:40What are you doing tonight?
02:41Can you give us any hints?
02:43I think Lauren told me not to tell anybody, so.
02:45Well, I would believe Lauren.
02:47I wouldn't leave it.
