00:00There are eight places in the country where the dengue outbreak is possible to be declared due to the increasing number of cases.
00:05Details on this were brought to you by BN Manalo and PTV Manila.
00:10After the dengue outbreak was declared, the local government of Quezon City, Kamakailana,
00:16due to the increasing number of cases of people infected with deadly diseases,
00:21has been rushing to clean up the area around their house in Barangay Matandang, Balara.
00:27Especially since their house is located near a creek, which is a possible source of pollution for mosquitoes.
00:33We need to clean the inside and outside of the house.
00:36We need to remove the wheels, throw away the things that are on the floor.
00:44We also need to remove the bottles.
00:46And as a precaution to their children, especially to their four-year-old son, who is still young.
00:53We also need to apply a lotion for the mosquitoes to avoid dengue.
00:59We also need to wear pajamas.
01:01Sometimes, I talk to the people inside the house so that the mosquitoes can leave the house.
01:06Once again, the barangay of Matandang, Balara in Quezon City is considering
01:11to remove the fish from the river and the vacant lot.
01:15It is to be remembered that in 2018 and 2019,
01:18the barangay started to distribute fish.
01:21After that, two people got sick and died.
01:23There were more than 200 cases of dengue in the area.
01:26But the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Health
01:32have not given up on removing the fish as a solution to the dengue outbreak.
01:36According to the DNR,
01:38there is still no sufficient study to prove that this is an effective solution.
01:43In our opinion, because we did that,
01:47we saw that the number of cases of dengue decreased.
01:54Although we still believe that there is still a lot of help for the fish,
01:59especially in the vacant lot where the barangay cannot enter to clean it.
02:07There are 45 cases of dengue in the area.
02:10But despite this, the barangay is ready to follow the orders of the Health Department
02:16and they will focus more on cleaning and information dissemination against dengue.
02:23We will also follow the 5S strategy of the Department of Health.
02:30Removing the fish is our last option if we cannot find it.
02:39Aside from cleaning the area,
02:42an alternative method was launched by a barangay in Mandaluyong City
02:47as a solution to the increase in the number of cases of dengue.
02:50This is the one with the peso in the mosque.
02:52Anyone can bring any number of fish,
02:55alive or dead, in exchange for the peso.
02:58The Health Department said,
03:00aside from QC,
03:01there are still 8 places in the country where dengue outbreak is expected to be announced
03:06due to the continuous increase in the number of cases.
03:08According to the DOH,
03:10more than 20,000 cases of dengue have been reported in the Philippines since February.
03:16This is more than 40% higher than the previous year.
03:22Although there is an increase in the number of cases,
03:24the fatality rate remains at 0.35%.
03:29The declaration of an outbreak is not considered a disease.
03:33This means that the number of cases has increased
03:36more than what is usually expected in one part of the year.
03:41The DOH also reminded people not to hesitate
03:44if they feel any symptoms of dengue
03:47and to immediately consult a doctor.
03:50Meanwhile, the Health Department has ordered the local governments
03:55to declare a dengue outbreak.
03:57From PTV4 Manila,
