00:00When I'm working, well, I know I'm gonna be
00:03I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you, Selina
00:07And when the money comes in for the work I do
00:11I'll pass almost every penny on to you
00:14And when I come home, well, I know I'm gonna be
00:18I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you, BAFTA
00:21And if I grow old, well, I know I'm gonna be
00:25I'm gonna be the man who's grown old with you, lucky Georgia
00:29Cos I would walk five hundred miles
00:33And I would walk five hundred more
00:36Just to be the man who walks five thousand miles
00:41To host one BAFTA's more
00:44Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
00:47Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
00:50Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
00:53Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
00:57Oh yeah!
00:59Hup! Hup! Come on now!
01:02Cos I would walk five hundred miles
01:05And I would walk five hundred more
01:09Just to be the man who walks five thousand miles
01:13To host one BAFTA's more
01:16Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
01:19Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
01:22Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
01:25Da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da-da
01:46Cos I would walk five hundred miles
01:49And I would walk five hundred more
01:53Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
01:57To host one father's boy
02:02Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
02:24Oh, oh, I need a wee lie down
02:28Cynthia, I don't know how you do that on a broomstick
02:32Seriously, that's a lot
02:35Whoa, and the thing's falling out my back
02:39Paul, look at that
02:41We'll cut that bit out
02:45Hello and welcome to the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2025
02:53Yes, as it's the year of sequels
03:04Inside Out 2, Gladiator 2, Moana 2
03:07I am back 2
03:09It's BAFTA 2
03:11For viewers in Scotland, it's a sort of tenants extra
03:14Depending how these opening remarks go, perhaps die harder
03:20We are joined by the brightest, biggest stars from the world of cinema
03:24Everyone looking wonderful this evening
03:26Look at that
03:28Fresh faced, bright eyes
03:30You've all had a couple of shots of The Substance
03:34Great film, The Substance, isn't it?
03:38We love that
03:41Offering a scenario where you could be replaced by a younger, sexier version of yourself
03:46I mean, I've been there
03:48I was Doctor Who, I turned into Shoddy Gatwa
03:51Come on, it's fair to say
03:53There might be some people in this room who've had a little freshening up
04:00I'll admit, I've taken The Substance
04:02There's a guy on the floor of my dressing room who looks like Nosferatu
04:07But tonight we honour the very finest actors, writers and directors in film
04:11I'm thrilled to see the utter commitment to brand new talent that BAFTA are showing tonight
04:16You look through the nominations, so many awards could be won by a complete unknown
04:27A complete unknown, what an achievement that film is
04:30Featuring classic Dylan hit after classic Dylan hit
04:33It's like Mamma Mia for middle aged dads
04:37And let's also have some appreciation for this year's magnificent sequel to June
04:41Which I naively thought, yeah
04:46I naively thought it was called July
04:53It's worth thinking about
04:56Both movies starring, of course, the wonderful Timothee Chalamet
05:05One of the most exciting and versatile actors in film
05:08In the last couple of years, he's transformed from Willy Wonka
05:11To a rebel leader in June, and now to Bob Dylan
05:14As Dylan himself once famously said
05:17The Timbs, they are a-changing
05:25Yeah, come on
05:27Thanks Cynthia, appreciate it
05:30We have to mention Enora
05:32The tale of a young woman, yes
05:39The tale of a young woman falling in love with the son of a Russian oligarch
05:43Where would normal people even meet someone like that?
05:46Pooh Tinder
05:53And what an outstanding film Conclave was
06:02Featuring the behind the scenes wrangling to pick a new pontiff
06:05Sort of Pope Idol
06:08Conclave was incredible
06:09A hundred machinating schemers
06:11Trying to decide between a conservative or progressive candidate
06:14Diversity or tradition
06:16God, it's like picking the next James Bond
06:22In Conclave, Stanley Tucci plays Cardinal Bellini
06:25Which makes a lot of sense
06:26Because if anyone knows how to whip up an excellent Bellini
06:32But it was the year that film confounded our expectations
06:35I settled down to watch gritty narco thriller Emilia Perez
06:40It was an uplifting musical
06:49Sing Sing? Hardly a song in it
06:55But there were plenty of songs in Wicked
07:03All of which of course led to a debate about audiences singing along during movies at the cinema
07:08Personally I couldn't stop myself belting out Defying Gravity at the top of my lungs
07:12Which didn't go down well with the other people watching The Brutalist
07:17Let's make some noise for The Sublime The Brutalist
07:28A film about incredible architecture
07:30In fact it's the boldest architecture in film this year
07:33Apart from Donald Trump's hair in The Apprentice
07:37Donald Trump, of course he says he hasn't seen The Apprentice
07:39Because it's a 15, it's not on Nickelodeon
07:46See, Donald Trump
07:47Don't worry, I've said his name three times
07:49It's like Betelgeuse have summoned him
07:54Talking of villains
08:07We've had many this year
08:08Not just Nosferatu, Hugh Grant in Heretic
08:16And most chilling of all, Feathers McGraw
08:25That whole Wallace and Gromit just jumped up and died behind the sofa
08:29Well they would if it didn't take three months to animate
08:32I want to say one brilliant thing about The Brutalist
08:35Was screening in cinemas with an intermission
08:38Come on
08:39Who doesn't love a chance to go for a wee halfway through?
08:43We considered it tonight
08:44But no
08:45The only chance to leave your seat is if you win
08:48So fingers and legs crossed
08:52And if you do win
08:53Please keep your speeches the opposite to your films
08:55Nice and short
08:58Come on, let's get this little do started, shall we?
09:05The Brutalist
09:06The Brutalist
09:07The Brutalist
09:08The Brutalist
09:09The Brutalist
09:10The Brutalist
09:11The Brutalist
09:12The Brutalist
