00:00After the help of the Agriculture Department, pork retailers and stakeholders,

00:04it was announced that they will not issue the maximum suggested retail price for pork.

00:16The Department of Agriculture announced that they will not issue the maximum suggested retail price for pork

00:22after the help of the DA, along with the pork retailers and stakeholders.

00:27For the next two weeks, we will not issue the maximum suggested retail price.

00:33Every sector agreed to study the cost structure from the importer, trader, retailer, and the traveler

00:45to know where the price of pork can go down.

00:53According to one retailer,

00:55No, of course, we will not raise the price because if we are not given a high price, we will not raise the price.

01:03For now, there is no change in the farmgate price and the price of pork may go down due to the investigation of the cost structure.

01:10The agency confirmed that the problem is not with the retailer,

01:14but with the high price of pork based on the initial investigation of the DA.

01:18The farmgate is clear.

01:20The retail price is now P240, P380 or P400.

01:25So between P240 and P400, that's where we will look for the possible problem or make-up.

01:34According to some producers,

01:36they are only now recovering from the high cases of African Swine Fever in the third quarter of last year.

01:43But according to the DA, this is not enough reason to raise the price of pork.

01:48The retail price is now in excess of P400 to P480

01:52because the DA's maximum assumption price is only P400 to P430,

01:57which is still trying to lower it.

01:59The agency will continue to monitor the correct pricing in the markets.

02:03Sales of pork are increasing because the hog industry has recovered from the ASF,

02:09so its population is increasing.

02:11Only 68 have active ASF,

02:13lower than more than 500 cases in the third quarter of 2024.

02:17There are also no active ASF cases in Batangas.

02:21The DA's target is the controlled commercial release of the Avak vaccine on the first week of April.
