00:00Hello everybody, how's it going? Today's Newcastle-related video I want you to take your minds back to
00:06January 2022 and I want to talk about two strikers who were hot topics on Tyneside at
00:13that time. If you cast your mind back to the dark days when Newcastle were sitting 19th
00:18in the Premier League, just one win all season, and it was a frantic one for the owners, it
00:23was the first win though since buying the club. Desperate not to avoid the embarrassment
00:29of relegation despite having the wealthiest owners. Newcastle made some quality business
00:34you know, but the one I want to focus on is Chris Wood. Now he's came out today on Sky
00:40Sports obviously ahead of the weekend's fixture at St James' Park. Newcastle and Forest both
00:46going for the Champions League, who would have believed it? And I just want to ask your
00:50thoughts really on what you think of his time at the club. You know he signed for
00:54a big fee from Burnley, £25 million I think Newcastle paid for him. You could probably
01:02class it as a bit of a panic buy at the time, I know because it was a huge fee. Just five
01:12goals in 38 games across all competitions, you can't really say it was value for business
01:16on that front. But what he did bring, you know Callum Wilson was injured at the time,
01:21Newcastle were desperate for a striker. And he gave them a focal point up front you know,
01:26and they ended up surviving quite comfortably in the end. And I think the big thing is Newcastle
01:31got the money back, well most of it back, they got £50 million when he eventually did
01:36leave to join Nottingham Forest. I just wanted to ask your thoughts, how you reflect on his
01:44time at Newcastle, because you know he came back to Horneton Club in the end on that boxing
01:49day, and that was really the start of his impressive run for Forest. Scoring, what,
01:5533 goals in 62 games, 18 in the Premier League this season alone. It really has been a revelation,
02:02especially for those who were looking for a cheap striker to put in the fantasy football
02:06team, he's worth a few quid now. So yeah, let us know what you think in the comments
02:10below on Chris Wood and how you reflect on his time at Newcastle, because he did a good
02:14little interview with Sky Sports today, sort of opening up about it, and how he was glad
02:19to play a part in them early post-takeover days. The second striker from that time, in
02:25the same window Newcastle nearly signed the two of them. After Chris Wood, a week or so
02:29later Newcastle made a deadline day move for Hugo Agotique, a player that most fans probably
02:36don't have much good words to say about. He rejected Newcastle not once, but twice
02:41when they went back in from in the summer. Now reports are out there today, this hasn't
02:46come from the Newcastle World Desk, you know I haven't been able to verify that information,
02:52but I thought it would be a fun topic just to discuss because there has been a report
02:56out there today that Newcastle would consider a third approach for a player who turned the
03:02club down. He's 23 year old, he's moved to PSG, which he did to sort of slum Newcastle,
03:09that never worked out, wasn't really ever going to work out. Lionel Messi and Mbappé
03:15and Neymar, he was never going to get a kick there. He was frozen out last season, and
03:20then he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt where he scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga this
03:24season. There's reports out there that West Ham, Arsenal and Newcastle could be in for
03:31a deal in the summer. I was just wondering what your thoughts would be on that, would
03:34you? Obviously Alexander Isak is the main man at Newcastle right now, I can't see anybody
03:39defrauding him. You're not going to get a better striker than him in world football,
03:43but Callum Wilson, he you know, his injury problems are well documented. Newcastle can
03:49give him another one year deal in the summer, can trigger the extension, but he's going
03:54to be 33 later this month. And yeah, I'm not really sure if you can hang your hat on Callum
03:59Wilson for another season, especially with his injury problems. I think it's certainly
04:03up for debate, but would Hugo Eketiki be welcomed by Newcastle? Like I said, rejected them not
04:09once, not twice. Would they be foolish to go in for a third time? Didn't think there
04:15was much in the report, but I just thought it would be a good talking point to see where
04:18the Newcastle fans would lie on that one. The transfer fee was meant to be a bit steep,
04:22I've seen, even though they signed him for £13 million last summer, there was, I think
04:27the quoted figure in the article I saw was £60 million. I don't think, I can't see Newcastle
04:34paying that sort of money for what would effectively be a substitute striker, and still one for
04:39the future of a 23. But yeah, like I said, that was the Newcastle world story, it hasn't
04:44come from us. I thought it would just be a good little talking point. Two strikers who
04:48were linked with Newcastle, well three years ago now, sort of both doing the rounds in
04:54the gossip columns today. So yeah, let us know what your thoughts are below. Chris Wood,
04:58Hugo Ekertike, big game this weekend, Newcastle kick on, Nottingham Forest. And yeah, that's
05:04me for today everybody, see you later.
