00:00And a big night in the Big Ten as well. Top 15 tilt in East
00:04Lansing. Number 14 Michigan State playing host to number 13
00:08Purdue. The Boilermakers coming in riding a two game losing
00:12skid, dropping both of their games last week. Purdue losing
00:16back-to-back games in Big Ten play for the first time in two
00:20years. Now making three straight losses for the Boilermakers at
00:24the hands of Michigan State in a huge game with direct
00:27ramifications in the Big Ten title race. It was a game that
00:32was a perfect recipe for MSU based on what they have done all
00:37year long. 75-66, DRS, the final last night in East Lansing.
00:42Yeah, straighten it out, people. Let's get it together here
00:44because you know what I love about Michigan State here is the
00:47fact, Ben, that we said yesterday, I didn't think they
00:50were going to be useful at the three-point line, which they
00:52don't like to do all that much. But the one thing we knew about
00:54Purdue is they're not great defensively inside the arc. And
00:57you look at the final statistics, Michigan State shot
00:5913 three-point shots, only made four of those. That's really
01:02what they do. But 58% overall from the floor, they took
01:05advantage of getting to the rack and making their points there.
01:08Also, from a free throw perspective, even though Purdue
01:10went 9 of 11, which is great, at 82% as a team, they only shot
01:1411 free throws, 21 free throws here for Michigan State
01:17converting 15 of those. So if you take away what they wanted
01:20to do best, which was go inside, you couldn't do that for Purdue.
01:2375-66, it made a lot of sense. And that was the handicap.
01:26Sometimes it's like, hey, you know what, got a little lucky.
01:28The team doesn't shoot three-point shots all that well.
01:30They made nine of them last night. This one went according
01:33to plan. Make your three-point shots when you can just to keep
01:35the offense open, convert it to free throw line, which they did.
01:38And then 58% as a team at home from the floor, that worked out
01:42in a nice victory there for the Michigan State Spartans and a
01:45clean handicap.
