00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has passed an executive order that will limit the sufficient and affordable supply of electricity in the country.

00:09This is Clayzel Pardilla of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.

00:14In order to limit the sufficient supply and affordable supply of electricity,

00:19President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed Executive Order No. 83.

00:25It regulates the reduction of electricity bills in the facilities of independent power producers

00:34that have an agreement with the government under the Build-Operate-Transfer Scheme.

00:40This will keep the operation of power generation facilities,

00:44prevent the closure of plants that provide 3,100 megawatts of electricity,

00:52and increase the price of electricity or rotating brownouts if the operation will stop or close.

01:00Under the EO 83,

01:02more than 80% will be sold to some local government units.

01:06The number of independent power producers in 2024 will be reduced

01:11based on the assessment level of 15% of the fair market value of their facilities.

01:17Interest and fines to those who did not pay the real property tax will also be canceled

01:22so that the IPPs will not pass.

01:25In order for the leadership of the Philippine Coast Guard to be more stable and effective,

01:30the Republic Act No. 12122 was passed.

01:34It clearly stipulates the importance of official, terminal, and retirement in the PCG.

01:40A maximum of three-year term has been set for the leadership of the agency

01:45to avoid the frequent replacement of the leadership that may affect the operation of the PCG.

01:52If the term is over or if the position was left early,

01:55the commander must retire mandatorily to improve the new leadership,

02:01except if the president extends his term.

02:05Merit-based promotion will also be strengthened

02:08from the ranks of the flag officers of the PCG,

02:11the new commander.
