00:20He is the prince of the King of Ugis.
00:22After arriving in Piri, he was appointed as a religious officer by Sudan.
00:24He was also awarded the title of Dato Maharaja Laila.
00:26In 1875, Piri was first appointed by the British Justice Department.
00:29J. W. W. Birch was angry at Maharaja Laila for stealing local tax rights and threatening the rights of Malay people.
00:35He then planned to assassinate Birch with other Malay leaders.
00:38Two months later, Maharaja Laila succeeded in assassinating Birch in Pasir Sara.
00:42But in the end, he was executed for this murder.
00:45And there is a small story about Jalan Maharaja Laila in Kuala Lumpur.
