00:00The RAC has revealed that almost half of UK police forces have caught motorists driving
00:07over 90mph on 30mph roads. A study found that the highest recorded speed was 167mph on a
00:1570mph road, which was found on a stretch of the M1 by Leicestershire Police. In fact,
00:21more than half of police forces in the UK recorded some drivers travelling over 140mph.
00:28An RAC road safety spokesperson, Rod Dennis, said that recent data shines a light on the
00:33incredibly dangerous driving actions of a few that are putting law-abiding road users
00:39at serious risk. The National Police Chiefs' Council Lead for Roads Policing said that
00:45some incidents of going over the speed limit can be genuine mistakes or errors, but that
00:49some drivers are taking deliberate decisions to travel at excessive speeds, which puts
00:54everyone at risk. But what do you think? Should there be more speed cameras and stricter
00:59limits on roads in order to control traffic and keep roads safe?
