Who is the GOAT Celtic? Russell? Bird? Other? Do you agree with Wiggy or Mego?
Transcript
00:00Wiggy on board, Mango not on board, believes it's clearly Bill Russell.
00:04So yeah, I just look at the championships. I love Larry Bird and he is one of the greatest,
00:10but if you're talking about the greatest Celtic, 11 championships in 13 seasons,
00:16changed the league, changed the game. That's Bill Russell.
00:20Who fills out your emergency top five?
00:23Of all-time NBA or all-time Celtics?
00:25Havlicek.
00:26Yeah, so I'd probably go, I've done this many times, so I feel like I'm not going to stay
00:30consistent. I have Tatum at the number five spot now. He's jumped because he won a championship
00:36and I'm kind of future predicting that. So I'd probably go Russell, Bird, Pierce,
00:45maybe Pierce. I'd throw Kuzi in there. I think Kuzi deserves it.
00:50What about Havlicek? Did you say Havlicek?
00:52Havlicek?
00:52That's what I asked. He stole the ball.
00:56But he's got a lot. Statistically, he's got numbers and he's got championships.
01:00I mean, it's probably harder because it's a different era.
01:05Like McHale could obviously be in the conversation. The bigger question I think that Tatum
01:11said in there that we might really have a conversation about one day, will he surpass
01:18Bird? That might be...
01:20Tatum?
01:21Yeah. I mean, when you look at his career, he's what, 20, what is he, 25 years old?
01:26No, he's 26.
01:2626 years old. There's a chance that he could win realistically four NBA titles.
01:33Yeah. The thing with Tatum is statistically, when you look at who NBA players are in the
01:39modern game, when they enter their prime, it's that gap between 26 to 31, 32. That is the prime
01:49and everything that he's done so far, he's just entering the prime now, or he at least should be.
01:54And so we shouldn't have seen the best of Tatum yet. It should be happening over the
01:58next couple of years. And so then we'll really know.
01:59That's my point is he's going to have the ability. Statistically, he's going to have
02:03all the numbers because the game is changing. We were kind of talking about this off air,
02:07like with Larry Bird. Larry Bird averaged throughout his NBA career,
02:131.9 when it comes to three-point attempts. Steph Curry, 9.3.
02:22It's crazy.
02:23There were times-
02:24Which shows you how different the game has become.
02:27Think about-
02:28Because arguably, I guess we would all agree that Steph Curry is probably the greatest shooter.
02:34Yes.
02:35But Bird is right there.
02:37Right.
02:37And he only took almost two three-point attempts per game.
02:42Per game.
02:44So there were times with Steph Curry,
02:46seasons where he averaged more than 10 three-pointers a game, right?
02:50Jason Tatum, for example, averages seven three-pointers a game throughout his career.
02:56So, I mean, what's that? Triple of Bird?
02:59So I get the error is going to be difficult. I think the one knock that Tatum's going to,
03:03on Tatum, and Shine brought this up, and it's going to be Larry Bird's, like,
03:08ace in the hole. The guy won the MVP three years in a row.
03:13Yeah, that's really special.
03:14That is a feat that I don't think any player has ever done in NBA history.
03:18But Larry Bird never had a song written about him by his soulmate.
03:22That is true. He never dated somebody of that level. At least we don't know about LMA.
03:28I mean, that's- LMA?
03:29Yeah, LMA.
03:31Do you have any of that, Shine?
03:33I mean, that's the height of love if somebody writes a song about you.
03:38It would be like Bird dating Whitten.
03:40Wouldn't you like to have a song written about you? Like if Mrs. Wiggins were a-
03:45Not if it's by Kendrick Lamar.
03:47A performing artist?
03:49I mean, yeah, if you get to the point, you can, you know,
03:52I mean, if my wife could sing at that level, I'd probably have multiple songs.
