00:00Internally displaced persons in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental joined the Livelihood Skills Program
00:06in order to provide them with an income to be able to get back on their feet.
00:10This is the detail of Marianne Grace Arenieta of Radyo Pilipinas, Ilo Ilo.
00:18Clothes that are no longer used.
00:20That's what the local government of La Carlota City is bringing to the evacuation centers in Negros Occidental.
00:28But not to be worn, but to increase the income of the evacuees of Vulcan Canlaon.
00:34One of the things they are working on is the construction of a base or potholder from donations from the LGU.
00:41That is part of the Livelihood Skills Program for internally displaced persons
00:46of the local public employment service office and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
00:52We were introduced to potholders and rug making.
00:57That's why they were able to sell a lot of potholders and rugs.
01:05The evacuees were also taught how to make molo, tocino, and chorizo.
01:10Like Ronna, they are using what they learned from the program at home.
01:16That's why the IDPs don't even have to thank the government to have an income.
01:24Thank you very much to everyone who is helping, especially to the President,
01:29to CDSWD, and to the private sector that is helping us here.
01:33Thank you very much and God bless.
01:36Aside from the Livelihood Skills Training, the LGU also provided temporary employment to some IDPs.
01:43The income from the products they sold will be divided among the IDPs.
