Crowds gathered at St Peter's Square in the Vatican and outside Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Monday (Feb 24) to continue to pray for Pope Francis who remains critically ill but alert.
The 88-year-old pontiff is spending his 11th day in hospital, equaling the longest hospital stay of his nearly 12-year papacy.

00:30We are praying a lot for the Pope, because the Pope has helped Ukraine a lot.
00:35We pray that the Pope should come back and he should get well.
00:42Well, of course, but I would want him to be healthy and I would rather him be healing. Yes, yes.
00:50I think he will survive, yes. He has good doctors and yes, we read the newspapers and hear about him. Yes, we are interested.
01:20We know that although the situation of his health is not bad, we know that his health, in the case of anyone, always needs to be improved.
01:47I hope that God will accompany him and the Virgin will take care of him, and above all, that he does not suffer, and that he does what God wants, because he does not deserve to suffer.
02:06For me he is an idol, because people who transmit so much good, so much goodness and so much love for others, it is sad. Why do these idols have to leave?
02:23These are real idols, who deliver a lot of messages, who give their lives for others.
