A metropolitan police officer has been dismissed after flowing a flare during a football match.

00:00Detective Constable Gordon Iracafe, attached to the force's Central South Command unit,
00:06faced a misconduct hearing on Thursday last week after allegations he lit and threw a
00:12pyrotechnic into the crowd during a football match.
00:17Indeed, the officer has now been dismissed by the Metropolitan Police after he was found
00:22to have thrown a flare into a live Arsenal match in Munich while off-duty on April 17th
00:30last year.
00:31He was arrested and fined €100 by German police that same day for wearing a full balaclava
00:39and sunglasses inside the stadium.
00:42Dismissed.
00:43Specifically for gross misconducts, that is of course in relation to hooliganism, displayed
00:50during football matches, which the officer in question has a long history of.
00:56The hearing found he had breached the standards of professional behaviour for discreditable
01:05conduct.
01:06Detective Constable Iracafe was also served with a court summons last October following
01:12a separate investigation by the Met's Central Football Unit.
01:17Westminster Magistrates' Court heard the officer had come to police notice on numerous
01:23occasions for disorderly and antisocial behaviour at football matches.
01:28He was heard shouting helicopter at a match away to Leicester City in February 2023.
01:35The club's former owner died with four others when a helicopter crashed outside their King
01:41Power Stadium in October 2018.
