BirminghamWorld reporter Charlie Haffenden reacts after Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Fulham in the Premier League, with goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Joao Gomes and Rodrigo Muniz.
Transcript
00:00Wolverhampton Wanderers won Fulham 2 here at Molyneux on a Tuesday night in February.
00:07Wolves remain 5 points above the Premier League relegation zone with Leicester and Ipswich still to play this midweek.
00:14A pretty terrible result for the Wanderers. I mean, Fulham are in fantastic form and they're pushing for a potential European qualification this season.
00:20But they've just lost 2-0 to Palace. Wolves have just won 1-0 away at Bournemouth.
00:24And you'd think under the lights, with the home advantage, Fulham have actually never won here in the Premier League before tonight.
00:30Wolves should have probably got a result out of this, at least maybe a draw with the home advantage.
00:35But unable to do so in cost by two very costly errors at the start of both halves.
00:40I say errors, they might not be too glaring, but it was lapsed as a concentration that allowed Fulham in behind within 60 seconds and then 63 seconds of each half.
00:49As I said, within that first minute of the first period, Ryan Sessegnon opened the scoring for Fulham.
00:54Played in behind by Andres Pereira and a fantastic finish into the far bottom corner.
00:59It was giving Jose Sarr no chance. For that one, it was Nelson Samedo who stepped up when he shouldn't have.
01:04And then he kind of got dragged into Pereira's pass instead of watching the run of Sessegnon.
01:09I don't think he even saw him whatsoever. Sessegnon had a clear run to goal before putting it past Sarr.
01:14Wolves took it back into the game. Joao Gomez scoring a pretty decent finish from about 10 yards out.
01:19The ball dropped to him at the far post and he thrashed it into the roof of the net.
01:23He'd just missed a chance very similar to that two minutes beforehand.
01:27So maybe he learned from that miss when he blazed over the bar to put it into the back of the net on the second time of asking.
01:33And Wanderers, they did dominate possession for much of the game, much of the first half, sorry.
01:38But then soon as the second half began, Fulham on the front foot, one ball in behind for Madama Traore.
01:44Santiago Bueno failed to track the run of Rodrigo Munez who dinked it very delicately over Jose Sarr.
01:50Maybe Sarr shouldn't have gone down to ground as early as he did when he rushed out.
01:55Maybe he could have stood a bit taller. But nonetheless, it was a fantastic finish from the Fulham striker.
02:00And he put them back ahead. Wolves, they went on to dominate possession.
02:04Half-chances here and there. Mateus Cunha leading the way, trying to get Wolves back into the game.
02:09But it was Fulham who pushed on towards the end and looked more likely to score.
02:13Raul Jimenez, of course, a Wolves legend, given a standing ovation when he came on and then after full-time as well,
02:19he went twice close to scoring another for Fulham. Andres Pereira as well saw one go narrowly wide.
02:24And Marco Silva's side, towards the end of the game, were fairly comfortable as they held on for their three points.
02:30The Cottagers are now just one point outside the Champions League places,
02:34which means a 2-1 defeat for Wolves doesn't sound horrendous when you consider the context of it.
02:39But it's just a disappointment of those two lapses of concentration at the start of each half.
02:43A real mountain to climb for Vito Pereira's side, and they weren't able to climb it on this occasion.
02:48Still, there's a few positives to take in terms of domination, the chances created,
02:53but the points all go to Fulham on this occasion. Wolves 1, Fulham 2.
