Hundreds of thousands of devotees thronged the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj for the final holy dip of the Maha Kumbh Mela on Mahashivratri. The six-week-long religious gathering is set to conclude later today. A vast crowd of devotees assembled along the Sangam's banks around midnight, patiently camping and waiting for the sacred dip at 'Brahma Muhurt'.

00:00The top story from coming in from the national capital, there's a lot of politics that is erupting over the CAG report
00:06And there are many revelations that have been made in this report the BJP government in Delhi
00:11Which is led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta tabled the CAG report with regards to the Delhi excise policy in the assembly
00:18The report in fact is one of the 14 pending CAG reports with regards to the work done by the previous
00:24Aam Aadmi Party government. According to the report that was tabled, the audit report said that there were many loopholes
00:31There were many lapses with regards to the way the excise department monitored and regulated the supply of liquor
00:37In the national capital leading to cumulative losses more than 2000 crore rupees
00:43That's the kind of loss that the CAG report is now looking at. The Aam Aadmi Party however has been defending the new excise policy
00:50They are saying that what they have been saying is exactly what the CAG report also says
00:55The Aam Aadmi Party says that this loss was because of the old excise policy
01:00Stepping up the attack, the BJP is now accusing Arvind Kejriwal of scamming the people of the national capital
01:06And further demanding that he should be arrested in the liquor gate scam
01:20Arvind Kejriwal had looted Delhi with both his hands and then said that there is nothing wrong with it
01:24That's why Arvind Kejriwal had told Atishi ji to suppress the CAG report
01:29And he was doing drama. Sometimes he was taking the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar
01:32Sometimes he was taking the name of Shahid Azam Bhagat Singh, even though his photo is in our offices
01:36That's why all this drama was being done
01:38In the time of corona, when people in Delhi needed medicines, treatment and oxygen
01:44Then Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Shishodiya opened liquor shops
01:48The policy of liquor has changed
01:49And in a way, they have made a scam of 2000 crore rupees
01:54And this is not a political accusation
01:56This is what the CAG report says
01:58It is written in the papers, it is written in the files
02:01And I think the people of Delhi have the right to know this truth
02:04There are 14 such reports of CAG
02:06This is the first report
02:08Every corruption, every scam of Arvind Kejriwal will come in front of the people of Delhi
02:13How can a representative of the people sit on a pile of corpses
02:18How can a representative of the people take bribes of thousands of crores of rupees
02:25I am very surprised
02:27It is not our job to investigate, it is the job of the investigation agencies
02:30As a representative of the people, we will discuss these reports
02:33We will expose those who have looted
02:36And Narendra Modi has a declaration
02:40Those who have looted the people of this country will have to return it
02:43They will have to return it if they have looted
02:45This was the first government in the country
02:47Which made such a big scam in the liquor scam
02:51The kind of revelations that have been made in the CAG report
02:54Now it is definitely decided that Arvind Kejriwal and his other people
02:59There is already a case going on in the Supreme Court in this scam
03:02It is decided that these people will go to jail
03:04Today the CAG report has come about this scam
03:06And it has been clearly stated in the CAG report
03:09That Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Trishodia
03:11Have looted thousands of crores through this report
03:16Have taken bribe, have taken commission
03:19And the money of the people of Delhi has been looted
03:21This is the first case of Arvind Kejriwal's black deeds
03:25And in the future, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Trishodia and Sanjay Singh
03:29Should be held accountable
03:30Those who are released on bail in the liquor scam
03:32You will have to pay for this theft
03:36My colleague Ashutosh Mishra is now joining me on the story
03:39Ashutosh, it was day one
03:41And we saw how the assembly saw clear division
03:45Aam Aadmi Party, 22 MLAs on one side
03:47The BJP on the other side
03:48They were pointing fingers
03:50And we did see how there was utter ruckus
03:52That was being done with regards to the CAG report
03:55Aam Aadmi Party in fact then went on and sat on a dharna also
03:59However, their protest was not exactly on the CAG reports
04:05They were protesting for the removal of Babasaheb Ambedkar's photo
04:09And Bhagat Singh's photo
04:10Which were all the secretariat in the minister's chamber
04:13Exactly right behind the head of that chair
04:16In fact, later in the clarification, the BJP minister said
04:19Now the photo remain exists
04:21However, that's in a totally different part of the sitting area
04:24Well, as far as CAG report, that of course is a key contention
04:27But now, as far as conclusion of the CAG report is concerned
04:30There are two dimensions
04:32The one way looking at the legal aspect
04:34Is already there is a probe on
04:35The CBI has arrested all of them
04:37The Enforcement Directorate has arrested all of them
04:39And now they are on the bay
04:41Fact of the matter is the trial has not even started yet
04:44It's been years now, 2-3 years
04:46And there is no sight of beginning of a trial so far
04:49As far as the legal case is concerned
04:51Now what the CAG report says
04:53The amount of loss to the executive that the CAG says
04:56Is way different than what the ED claims
04:58And way different as far as the said scam amount is concerned
05:02So totally all these three agencies are on different pages
05:05We heard the Amadi party also clarifying
05:08That exactly the same CAG report said
05:10That the previous policy from 2017 to 2021
05:13There were many grey area that was promoting
05:16Black marketing of the liquor
05:18And subsequently a lot of grey area
05:20That's exactly why the new excise policy was formed
05:23The CAG reports which highlights particularly
05:25The bad implementation of policy
05:28Actually led to the loss of money
05:31To the Delhi Government Treasury
05:34And that's exactly where they blamed the CBI
05:36And the then Lieutenant Governor
05:38Despite the formation of the excise policy
05:40At the very last moment
05:42The Lieutenant Governor and the bureaucracy
05:44Which tweaked the number of liquor shops
05:46That were not allowed to open
05:48And since the number of shops that were not allowed to open
05:50That led to the loss of exchequer
05:52And subsequently then the FIR
05:55So all these come so our beliefs
05:57It could be a respite for them
05:59As far as the narrative building is concerned
06:01Whereas the legal case of course
06:03It all depends on the trial
06:05As and when it commenced
06:07Whatever amount of year it may take
06:09Thank you Ashutosh for giving us those details
06:11It will take a lot of time
06:13But we are seeing a big dangal being fought
06:15Between the Amadi party and the BJP
06:17In fact BJP now going a step further
06:19And saying that it should be Arvind Kejriwal
06:22Who should now be arrested in the liquor gate scam
06:24It is this dangal which has once again
06:26Reignited in the national capital
06:28The BJP government tabled the CAG report
06:30Revealing alleged loopholes
06:32In the Arvind Kejriwal era
06:34Excise policy
06:36The report is also pointing towards massive losses
06:38Losses to the tune to
06:402000 crore rupees to the exchequer
06:42But what exactly does the report say
06:44We are decoding all that in our next story
06:51The liquor gate policy war re-ignites
06:53The CAG report on the contentious liquor policy
06:55Was tabled in the assembly on Tuesday
06:57By the newly minted BJP government
06:59India's leader and great writer
07:01In Delhi, the rules of liquor
07:03And the prohibition of liquor
07:05Are being violated

19:43The 45-day Mahakumbh is set to culminate with the last amrit snan.
19:49The UP government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the Mahashivratri snan goes
19:55without a hitch.
19:57Over 63 crore devotees have already taken the dip at the Sangam and millions more are
20:04expected to descend on Wednesday.
20:10Prayagraj and the entire Mahakumbh Mela area has been declared a no-vehicle zone.
20:1640 teams of police, bike, squads have been deployed along all major routes leading up
20:23to Prayagraj.
20:24On the occasion of Shivratri, there will be a Jal Abhishek in Shivalok and the people
20:30who are going to the Ghat for the bath will also be made available.
20:34The police is being deployed in both places.
20:37The police will be deployed from the point of view of transport and from the point of
20:42view of the temple arrangements.
20:43People will get a good facility.
20:44We establish a general facility.
20:45Those who come from the Sangam area will take the bath in Sangam.
20:49Those who come from Jhusi will take the bath in Jhusi.
20:53Those who come from Rahel will take the bath in Rahel.
20:56The facility will be established through pontoon bridges.
21:00Traffic arrangements are top priority.
21:04Separate Ghats have been designated for devotees coming in from Lucknow, Chitrakoot and Koshambi.
21:12Since devotees will also be offering water at Shiv temples on Shivratri, additional police
21:17force has been deployed at all major temples.
21:21On the occasion of Mahashivratri, we will be organising the last day of a big festival.
21:28All the Shiv temples will be cleaned up.
21:32All the security arrangements will be done.
21:34All the steps taken by the devotees will be followed.
21:37As the Chief Minister had given us the direction in the last VC, we have all worked on it.
21:42Barricading will be done.
21:43Police will be deployed.
21:44Administrative officers will be deployed.
21:46Along with the temple arrangements, there will be a good coordination.
21:49We have all ensured that.
21:51All the baths will be done on the day of Mahashivratri.
21:54We have made special arrangements for that.
21:56In the same way, this time we have made more preparations and are moving forward.
22:01We are moving forward with the help of Jal Police, SDRF and PSE flood companies.
22:12This is a very dynamic situation.
22:14Accordingly, we have made our preparations and have made our deployment.
22:21Over one crore devotees are expected to be in Prayagraj on Mahashivratri.
22:28The state government and local authorities are leaving nothing to chance.
22:33With Simar Chawla in Prayagraj, Bureau Report, India Today.
22:41The world's largest religious gathering continues to witness an unprecedented influx of devotees.
22:47The logistical challenges are monumental.
22:50But there is cutting-edge AI technology that authorities are now using.
22:53And they are using this to manage the crowds to make sure that there is safety and there is order.
22:58We are telling you how innovation is playing a pivotal role in managing this historic event.
23:09It's the world's largest religious congregation, the Divine Mahakam.
23:15Nearly 64 crore devotees have already taken the holy dip.
23:23With millions gathered, the logistical challenges for law enforcement and authorities are enormous.
23:32But how have authorities successfully tracked the daily count of pilgrims?
23:38A team of technical experts have been working on an AI-driven system
23:43integrating technology with the complexities of managing this colossal human gathering.
23:55The green boxes on your screen are known as computer vision,
23:59allowing machines to identify and count individuals in video footage.
24:05Meanwhile, the red dots represent markers indicating crowd density.
24:17Two kinds of use cases and AI models have been deployed here.
24:21One is for getting the crowd density data in a camera field of view
24:27and then mapping different cameras in a particular zone.
24:31So let's say there is a ghat and there are X number of cameras installed at ghat.
24:36So we need the data, how many people are at that ghat at any point of time.
24:40So we make it as a reason.
24:43That is one thing. At the same time, we have got people count cameras.
24:46That is another AI model.
24:49Of the 1,700 cameras deployed, 500 are AI-enabled,
24:54connected to servers through an optical fiber network.
24:59Two advanced AI models work in tandem.
25:03One estimates crowd density while the other counts individuals.
25:08These models interact with live feeds and the data is further refined
25:13using information from facial recognition cameras,
25:17ultimately processed through a business algorithm to provide even more precise insights.
25:23The Integrated Command Center in Prayagraj receives final data
25:27and critical alerts via a cloud-based dashboard
25:31which helps in law and order maintenance.
25:36Here, as you can see, the card on the left,
25:39the crowd density is being calculated through the camera.
25:44And the card on the top right, the parking status,
25:49is also calculated through AI.
25:53And on the bottom left, the card indicates the flow of the crowd.
26:02And on the right, there are some alerts on which we act upon,
26:06on which we instruct ground teams to intervene.
26:11This AI-driven system not only estimates crowd,
26:14but also helps understand and manage human behavior on an unprecedented scale.
26:20The Mahakumbh provides an opportunity for AI to learn from the flow of millions,
26:26setting the stage for future innovations in crowd control and safety.

26:44While there's a lot of divinity with regards to the Mahakumbh,
26:47there's also massive politics that is taking place.
26:50And this politics is escalating.
26:52It's BJP on one side and the opposition on the other side,
26:55and they are locking horns.
26:57Now it was Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
27:00who has been defending the Mahakumbh and he's attacking the opposition.
27:03Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that Yogi Adityanath is in fact Ravan.
27:09The Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also said,
27:11Yogi Adityanath's abuses do not bother her.
27:15We are now seeing how the BJP and Yogi Adityanath have been attacking the opposition.
27:19Samajwadi Party Chief has said,
27:21wearing saffron clothes does not make one a true Yogi.
27:24He also gave an example from Ramayana and said even Ravan had posed as a Yogi
27:29to kidnap Mata Sita and he took a jibe at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
27:33On the other side, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said
27:36that she was unmoved by the abuses hurled at her by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
27:41She also said that the statement that the Mahakumbh comes once every 144 years is incorrect.
27:48The BJP continues to attack the opposition and they are saying that
27:51all these statements being made by the opposition leaders are misleading.
28:11There were some shortcomings in the Kumbh Ayurveda.
28:15I would like to tell them to read the book.
28:18They should know about the study done by Harvard.
28:21They should know about the history of Kumbh.
28:24They should know about the tradition of Kumbh.
28:27They should know about the things done in the Kumbh Ayurveda.
28:30They should know how to arrange the buildings in Kumbh.
28:35Those who have lost their mind,
28:38they use such words to mislead the people.
28:43The people who have lost their minds,
28:46especially the leaders of the Socialist Party,
28:50who spread rumours about the Mahakumbh,
28:53who made false statements,
28:56they are being slapped on the face.
28:59If this statement of theirs would have had any effect,
29:02if the number of such people would have decreased,
29:05then they would have had some impact.
29:08But they are useless, their statements are useless, their future is useless.
29:11Forget what the opposition is saying.
29:14The biggest religious leader of the Hindu society,
29:20Shankaracharya, what is he saying?
29:23Shankaracharya is saying that thousands of people have been killed.
29:26Shankaracharya is saying that there is no arrangement.
29:29And this is the truth.
29:31There was mismanagement there.
29:34There was no proper arrangement there.
29:37Many people were killed there,
29:39of whom there is no count.
29:42India Today's Rahul Kawal had an exclusive conversation
29:45with the head of the Juna Akhara, Swami Avdeshanand.
29:48Listen in.
29:51Swami Avdeshanand ji, we have also seen that
29:54many political opposition parties
29:57have attacked the Juna Akhara.
29:59Congress leaders say that
30:01you will not get food by bathing in Gangaji,
30:03poverty will not be eliminated.
30:05The government's priorities are wrong.
30:07This is a publicity stunt for TV.
30:09Mamata Banerjee said that
30:11death is the order,
30:13they respect the Mahakum,
30:15they respect Ganga Ma,
30:17but this was the death order.
30:19There were also stampedes here,
30:21in Prayag, at Delhi Railway Station.
30:23How do you see the way the opposition parties
30:26have attacked the Juna Akhara?
30:30Look, we have prayed for those
30:32who have died in that crowd.
30:34And it was really a matter of pain.
30:37And prayers have been made for them continuously.
30:40But the truth is that
30:42it has also given economic progress.
30:44Those who are saying that
30:46they will not get food,
30:48there was an economic upheaval.
30:50Those who were saying that
30:52it has not happened,
30:54they should have understood
30:56the faith of India.
30:58As far as water is concerned,
31:00there is cleanliness, purity,
31:02purity, divinity in water.
31:04There is a unique,
31:06Brahma-rasa in water.
31:08There is no impurity,
31:10no impurity in it.
31:12It is all beneficial.
31:14The faith and the divine
31:16immortality that India is experiencing,
31:18they should experience it.
31:20They should not disrespect
31:22the values of the Juna Akhara.
31:24They should not disrespect
31:26the values of India.
31:28They should not look at
31:30the faith of India
31:32from a political point of view.
31:52They are standing with the Afghan women.
31:56Taliban bar women and girls from playing sports.
31:58And now we are seeing
32:00that this aspect of the Taliban government
32:02is something that has taken center stage
32:04at the Champions Trophy.
32:06There is a big message which is being sent out
32:08by the England team.
32:10England team's big message to the Taliban regime.
32:12The skipper says that they all,
32:14the entire team is standing with the Afghan women.
32:16The captain of the
32:18Afghanistan cricket team, however,
32:20says that they are only cricketers.
32:22They have no control over politics
32:24or over policies.
32:50Women and girls in Afghanistan
32:52at the moment and the struggles that they are
32:54facing. But we hope that
32:56the game tomorrow
32:58can be a source of hope and
33:00enjoyment in what's obviously a tough time
33:02at the moment.
33:04So I think
33:06we're really excited about the match.
33:08Sport has a great
33:10power to unite people and
33:12give hope. And that's what we hope this
33:14game will do. As I said in the last
33:16press also that
33:18we are cricket players,
33:20we are sports persons,
33:22sportsmen. So
33:24what we control is we control what
33:26we can do in the ground, inside the ground.
33:28So we
33:30don't worry about what's happening
33:32out of the ground.
33:34That not
33:36can do anything
33:38with our confidence. We
33:40play hard, we work hard, we
33:42have good net sessions.
33:44So
33:46that's what we're thinking of
33:48and we only can
33:50do what we can do in the ground.
33:52My colleague Nitin Shrivastav is now joining me
33:54on the story. Nitin, this time we have seen
33:56the Champions Trophy seeing a lot of
33:58politics. And now with this message,
34:00the politics is once again back at the
34:02center stage with regards to the Champions
34:04Trophy.
34:06Well of course, there is a clear message
34:08to Afghans, especially Taliban
34:10because
34:12women are not
34:14free to take part in
34:16sports and when it comes
34:18to education, it is the same.
34:20But again, Taliban
34:22took over in 21 and since
34:24then there is no
34:26women's participation in any sports.
34:28And that is why if you go back
34:30Australia had denied to play
34:32ODIs with Afghanistan.
34:34Now recently,
34:36few months back
34:38British lawmakers also
34:40had urged England
34:42to not play their matches
34:44in the Champions Trophy against
34:46Afghanistan. But now
34:48as we heard of
34:50what the captains were trying
34:52to say,
34:54England clearly said that they are really sad
34:56to see the situation
34:58of women in Afghanistan,
35:00especially the sportspersons.
35:02But they can't avoid it,
35:04they can't ignore to play any
35:06tournament or any matches
35:08against Afghanistan.
35:10Similarly,
35:12Afghanistan captain also said
35:14that he cannot control what exactly
35:16is going on in Afghanistan as far as
35:18the women's participation is concerned.
35:20But they can only
35:22play as their privates.
35:24There is a clear cut message,
35:26but again, it is highly
35:28regulated body.
35:30And you know, Afghanistan
35:32is a
35:34scene
35:36which always try and say
35:38that women should also
35:40play. But it is something
35:42very serious.
35:44Stay on with me, we've got some more breaking news
35:46coming in with regards to the Champions Trophy.
36:06At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
36:08in Pakistan, there was a match
36:10going on between New Zealand and Bangladesh.
36:12The intruder was carrying
36:14a picture of the Tehreek-e-Tabalik
36:16leader, Saad Rizvi.
36:18He somehow managed to get close
36:20to New Zealand cricketer, Rachin Ravindra
36:22and hugged him.
36:24The incident occurred when New Zealand was
36:26doing a run chase. Ranjit and
36:28Tom Lapp were right in the
36:30middle of the field when this incident took place.
36:36According to Nitin,
36:38Nitin is still with me on the story.
36:40Nitin, we are seeing that this actually
36:42was a major breach and in the visuals
36:44we can clearly see this man
36:46running on to the field,
36:48hugging the cricketer and then being
36:50forced to leave the stadium.
36:52Well, of course, it is a major
36:54security breach and since the Champions
36:56Trophy is happening in Pakistan,
36:58it is going to be our biggest
37:00tough spot for Pakistan
37:02cricket to maintain its
37:04security for each and everyone
37:06who are there, be it
37:08cricketers or be it fans.
37:10As we saw in the images,
37:12the views were that some
37:14intruder was trying to get
37:16hold of Rachin Ravindra.
37:18But Pakistan cricket board
37:20have issued a statement saying
37:22that we have taken control
37:24of all such things
37:26and this will not be repeated.
37:28The intruder was produced
37:30before the court and he was
37:32banned to attend
37:34any matches in Pakistan.
37:36So, as far as the security
37:38and safety of players is concerned,
37:40Pakistan cricket board is saying
37:42that that is paramount and we
37:44will make sure that such incidents
37:46should not happen in the future games.
37:48Nitin for giving us those details,
37:50there was a massive security breach
37:52during the match that took place
37:54between Bangladesh and New Zealand.
37:56A man invaded the pitch during
37:58the New Zealand-Bangladesh match.
38:02We are moving on
38:04to the state of Maharashtra
38:06where Beer Biceps has now
38:08given a statement to the police
38:10with regards to the vulgar joke
38:12that he made and the big
38:14controversy that followed.
38:16Beer Biceps admits that
38:18he did make a mistake because
38:20he made a crass comment.
38:22He committed a mistake by making
38:24these remarks. This is a statement
38:26being given by Ranveer Alabadia.
38:28He also went ahead and said
38:30he attended the show because
38:32Samay is a friend of his.
38:34Ranveer grilled over the sex with
38:36parents joke. It's a big controversy
38:38that took place after
38:40Ranveer Alabadia made that crass
38:42comment on India's Got Latent show.

42:16states like Tamil Nadu and other southern states. But in the northern states, they have
42:21not followed. Delimitation is based on population. Our population will be less in India. So that
42:33will affect the number of constituencies in the state. Already we have lost two constituencies.
42:37Earlier we had 41. In 1971's delimitation, we had lost two constituencies. Now we may
42:45have to lose more constituencies. Then our representation will be less in the parliament.
42:51The chief minister wants to distract the people's attention from some real issues which are
42:56facing the state. Just like how they're talking about Hindi imposition, which is nowhere there.
43:02The delimitation process has been going on from 1952 when the Congress was in power.
43:07The process of census is very important. It has to be taken to make sure that we are able
43:11to understand the composition of the people so reservation can be brought about. So is
43:17the chief minister against reservation? Can we take it that way?
43:23Moving on to the state of Kerala from where a horrifying case of multiple murders has
43:27shaken the town of Thiruvananthapuram. A 23-year-old man has brutally killed five people, including
43:33four from his own family. Now this is a shocking case of a crime spree which has come to the
43:38fore. In fact, a sixth victim is very critical and has been admitted in a private hospital.
43:55A spine-chilling murder from God's own country has sent shockwaves across the nation. 23-year-old
44:04Afan walked into a police station in the suburbs of state capital Thiruvananthapuram and made a
44:09confession that sent the force into a fizzy. Afan told the police that he had killed six people,
44:15including his mother, teenage brother, grandmother, paternal uncle, aunt and a young woman who is
44:22said to be his girlfriend. But his mother, who Afan thought he had killed, survived.
44:27Her condition remains critical.
44:57The accused allegedly struck his brother and girlfriend multiple times on the head with a
45:03hammer. Afan's behavior displayed psychotic patterns as he scattered several 500 notes
45:10around the body of his younger brother, as per the police. According to the police, Afan took a
45:16hammer with him when he first went to his grandmother's house before proceeding to kill
45:20others at three different locations.
45:44Locals who saw Afan between the murders told the police that he appeared unfazed and showed no
45:50signs of distress.
46:20The police say that Afan was a drug abuser.
46:50But a murder of this kind has been very rare, and it's definitely been a shocking news for
46:58everybody who's heard this since yesterday.
47:03With video, journalist Inquira Shekhar Shibimolke for India Today from Thiruvananthapuram.
