Malaysia is leading efforts to develop the ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation Strategy 2026-2030, a forward-looking initiative aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and resilience, said the Digital Ministry at the launch of Cyber Digital Services, Defence and Security Asia (CyberDSA) 2025 on Feb 26.

00:36not just to showcase the latest technological development,
00:40but to foster strategic partnership that address the complex challenge
00:46at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity and digital services.
00:51Our efforts are further bolstered by significant investment from global technology companies,
00:58underscoring Malaysia's position as the vanguard digital hub.
01:02For instance, Oracle has announced plans to invest over $6.5 billion
01:09to establish its first cloud region in Malaysia.
01:13This aims to assist local organizations in modernizing applications
01:18and leveraging data analytics and AI.
01:21Such development, ladies and gentlemen,
01:24not only enhance our digital infrastructure,
01:28but also to create opportunities for innovation and growth within our tech ecosystem.
01:34Furthermore, securing cross-border data flow in ASEAN
01:39is a critical and strategic regional cybersecurity.
01:43Reliable data governance frameworks such as ASEAN Data Management Framework
01:49and ASEAN Model Contractual Clauses are vital to ensuring data security,
01:56regulatory compliance and seamless business and operations across borders.
02:01However, the challenges rise and the varying data protection loads across ASEAN nations.
02:09To address these, we must establish harmonized policies,
02:14conduct regular risk assessment and build robust infrastructure.
02:20Strengthening cybersecurity alongside these regional efforts,
02:24we create a secure, resilient digital environment,
02:29empowering businesses, especially micro, small and medium enterprises,
02:35to capitalize on the cross-border opportunity with trust and compliance.
02:40Several DSEs provide an ideal platform for government, business and academic institutions
02:47to concentrate on education, research and workforce development.
02:53This is crucial in ensuring that Malaysian and regional talent pool
02:59is not only equipped for today's challenge but ready for the leap in the future.

03:12Cybersecurity Malaysia will organize a Cyber Security Award 2025.
03:19This year marks the 16th edition of the annual award ceremony.
03:24The Malaysian Cyber Security Award honors individuals and organizations
03:29for their significant contributions to the Malaysian cybersecurity industry.
