00:00The Chicago season of Married at First Sight has reached a halfway point and what a truly
00:08wild, incredibly fascinating, and absolutely compelling ride it has been.
00:19Beginning on their wedding day, the five Windy City couples have already developed relationships
00:23filled with passion, intrigue, and adventure.
00:30There have been hopeful moments of genuine connection as the newlyweds grew closer.
00:35It's time to stop just playing around and see what it's all about.
00:39There have also been struggles which could pull them apart.
00:42Who would choose to live with their parents at 36 years old?
00:45I don't want to call you like a pushover because that's like a harsh term.
00:48Okay, well now you're just being an ass.
00:50That physical attraction is not there for me.
00:52Bring me a clown, bring me a clown, you're going to get a circus.
00:56So join us tonight as we break down the highs and lows and the ups and downs of the Chicago
01:01season.
01:02I live in my parents' basement and I smoke cigarettes.
01:03She's like, I'm out.
01:04I was like, okay Thomas, he's trying to get some.
01:09We'll give you our predictions on how it all might play out as decision day approaches.
01:14I think it's not going to work.
01:15I'm really just hoping for like the ultimate love story.
01:19We'll also show you exclusive sneak peeks from later in the season that you don't want
01:23to miss.
01:24Go everywhere and anywhere with the roses.
01:28To me it looks like you are reaching out to other women.
01:31It's going to be spicy.
01:36This is Married at First Sight Chicago, the journey so far.
01:42Good evening everyone.
01:43I'm Kevin Frazier and welcome to Married at First Sight Chicago, the journey so far.
01:47Now the Chicago couple has just celebrated their one month anniversaries and to say the
01:51least it's been a rollercoaster of emotions for them and for us also.
01:55But I am very happy to report that this season so far all five couples are still together
02:01at the halfway point.
02:02We're only halfway y'all, but we still have a long way to go.
02:06All right, now here to discuss it all is our panel of media professionals and Married at
02:11First Sight aficionados.
02:12They are eager and ready to dissect everything that has gone down so far and what may lie
02:17ahead.
02:18Let's welcome back Senior Director Partnerships Essence, Nicole Haynes.
02:22I'm so happy to be back.
02:24Senior Entertainment Writer for Variety, Angelique Jackson.
02:28Love this season.
02:29Glad we're back to some love.
02:30Back to love?
02:31Is it going to stay in love?
02:34Entertainment Journalist for the Associated Press, Gary Gerard Hamilton.
02:38Glad to be back with the family and just wondering where their alcohol is like the after party.
02:41I mean, we need a bar here, right?
02:43We need a bar.
02:44We need some liquor.
02:45I need that jacket.
02:46And Senior Features TV Editor for Variety, Emily Longoretta.
02:50I am so happy to be back.
02:51I cannot wait to get into this guys.
02:53I have so many thoughts.
02:54There are lots and lots of things to talk about.
02:57Now look, we were all here back at the beginning for the Chicago kickoff special as we were
03:02all introduced to the couples and we made our predictions on where we thought these
03:07marriages were headed.
03:08What are your overall impressions of the Chicago season so far, Gary?
03:12Kick us off.
03:13I mean, I really enjoyed this season, but I think it's proven that you can give somebody
03:18exactly what they ask for on paper and they're still not happy.
03:22I really enjoy how they're really trying to work through things.
03:26They're not just throwing in the towel.
03:27More than ever, the experts leveled up because they gave them exactly what they asked for.
03:32Experts deserve love for this.
03:33They do.
03:34Yeah.
03:35I think we've seen some really sweet moments this season and you can really see the potential.
03:39I think that's important and that's a key thing and we're going to talk about that.
03:42Now while we make our way through discussing each couple, I want to ask each one of you
03:46to pick one favorite moment from what you have seen so far that just really stuck out
03:52to you as interesting, maybe it was pivotal.
03:54Let's call it your moment of the season so far.
03:57Emily, I'm going to start with you because I can tell something's percolating.
04:01There's so many good moments, but I have to say David finally showing Michelle his
04:06apartment in the basement was definitely my favorite moment.
04:10This is where I spend majority of all my time.
04:13Is this operating?
04:14Yes, it does work.
04:15I do have some empty kegs in there.
04:18Nice.
04:19I think it's what I expected.
04:20Okay.
04:21And what was that expectation?
04:22That you live in your parents' basement.
04:24Okay.
04:25I couldn't look away.
04:27That scene, one of the best scenes on television.
04:29It was all about the presentation and it was lacking.
04:33Oh yeah, because he thought his joint was fly.
04:35He said, let's go, boo.
04:36Come to the side door.
04:37The side door.
04:38I never go in the front door.
04:39The front door is their door.
04:40I got my own entrance.
04:43There's a lot to talk about with David in that moment and listen, we're going to get
04:47to everybody else's moments throughout the show, but right now let's kick this off with
04:51our first couple, Camille and Thomas.
04:54All right.
04:55What's your initial thoughts on this couple as you watch them get married?
05:00I mean, first of all, I'm just happy we got there.
05:02She had that big freak out before she made it to the aisle.
05:05I really don't know if I can do this.
05:08And I actually really did love that because Camille is so sweet and even tempered.
05:13It was nice to kind of just know that, you know, this is a scary thing.
05:18And when she got to the man that they presented her with in Thomas, a lot of those fears were
05:24easily assuaged.
05:25But you know what happened?
05:27Physical attraction matters.
05:28You have to have a spark.
05:29There has to be a spark.
05:30There has to be some level of attraction.
05:33Yes.
05:34Yes.
05:35But also, I think we learned that the big thing for Camille was that Thomas didn't seem
05:39as smooth as he was used to.
05:42Like we both were raised in different environments.
05:45What's missing is a little smoothness and the swag factor.
05:50Do you think he has swag?
05:54It's the potential is there.
05:57He grew up in an environment that was predominantly white.
06:01And so instead of just immediately dismissing him as not being swaggy enough, she actually
06:06heard him and they were able to move past it in a really impressive way.
06:10You know, I think the other side of that also is, you know, what Camille is looking for
06:14and what she's always allegedly had, somebody with swag and stuff like that.
06:18Listen, you get with somebody swaggy enough, there are things that come with that.
06:22That may be one of the reasons why she's on this show, because it didn't work out.
06:27You looking for swag, you'll get it.
06:29But that's why it comes at a cost.
06:31I love that they match this couple.
06:33And it just kind of shows the world that black is not a monolith.
06:37They come from two different worlds.
06:39And just to show the differences amongst black people, I really enjoyed that whole conversation.
06:46And I loved how they worked it out so beautifully.
06:49This was something that a lot of black folks deal with in the black community.
06:52You have all these different levels.
06:55And it's important that we talk about it, face it.
06:58And it's another thing I love about the show.
07:00All right.
07:01So now they get through that and then things got a little toasty and steamy up in the crib,
07:06right?
07:07Oh, yeah.
07:08I can't lie.
07:09I mean, I feel like, you know, that is important to me to have a good sexual connection.
07:17So, you know, before I can really make an educated decision, I got to make sure that
07:21we kind of connect on all fronts.
07:23Oh, OK.
07:25Things got swaggy.
07:26I was like, OK, Thomas, you're trying to get some tonight.
07:33You're trying to get some.
07:35But also still being so romantic.
07:37Yes.
07:38It was like, not just, hey, let's have sexy time.
07:40It was like, let me massage you.
07:42What areas are bothering you?
07:43Like, literally, let me be romantic and be kind.
07:46But Thomas, you know, he's a grown ass man.
07:49And he is ready to be married.
07:51I agree with you.
07:52He's the true epitome of the type of man that we want to see unmarried at first sight.
07:57And I'm so here for it.
07:58We soon found out that Camille and Thomas were the first couple to consummate their
08:02marriage.
08:03Who would have thought?
08:05Where are we with intimacy right now?
08:07Well, we did consummate the marriage.
08:11Oh, cheers to that.
08:13Cheers to that.
08:16Did you notice the difference between before sex and after sex?
08:21Sure.
08:22They came in so relaxed and chill.
08:23Yeah.
08:24They're like, we good.
08:25Yeah.
08:26Thomas' step was, he came in like, you know what I'm saying?
08:28Like.
08:29And Camille smiled.
08:30She was just baby.
08:31I also love that they were like, ready to talk about it.
08:33Sure.
08:34They were like, oh yeah, we did.
08:35We did.
08:36So they got to their one month anniversary and everything was great.
08:40But just when you think this couple is just too good to be true, that there's nothing
08:44but smooth sailing ahead, I want you to take a look at this exclusive sneak peek from the
08:49upcoming episodes that might make you worry.
08:52I know he's going to ruin it.
08:54I'm just saying.
08:55I'm a killer.
08:57Move out day.
08:58Where are we going?
08:59What are we doing?
09:00OK.
09:01So I would love for you to just move in with me.
09:04But I don't have the space to support that.
09:06I think that's, you know, one thing that I want to kind of push you on.
09:12Some things just aren't as concrete as I'd like them to be because, you know, I don't
09:17know what's going to happen on decision day.
09:19But if I'm saying like that would help with the yes or help me feel more secure in the
09:25yes, there's a portion of me that's thinking he's not really understanding that a lot of
09:29my vulnerability has a direct correlation to his lack of ability to make a concrete
09:35decision.
09:36It almost feels like he's too complacent for me.
09:40Yeah, we got some figuring out to do.
09:45I actually did not realize just how honestly frustrated Camille seems to be at this point.
09:51It sounds like she's kind of been holding this in a little bit and just waiting and
09:55waiting and waiting.
09:56And it's kind of simmering.
09:58I didn't view Thomas as acting complacent.
10:01But the fact that that's how she took it, I think, is very interesting and really important
10:05that she said to you, I need like that.
10:08He did not communicate to his wife and she has a vulnerability and a need and he's not
10:14communicating.
10:15Yes and no, though.
10:16Yes and no.
10:17I think that he might need some assurance, too.
10:19He may not be understanding that she's saying, like, I am choosing you or the plan is to
10:24choose you.
10:25As I tell most of my friends, for most men, women, we've got to spell it out.
10:29That's what I'm saying.
10:32Where are we going to live after this?
10:33Because I'm in.
10:35We all predicted at the kickoff special that these two would choose to stay married on
10:39decision day, that everything was going to work out.
10:42Has anything changed your mind?
10:44Anybody?
10:45No.
10:46Standing by my decision.
10:47I'll stand by it.
10:48Standing by it.
10:49Thrilled.
10:50Great job.
10:51Exactly.
10:52I'm nervous, right?
10:53Nervous.
10:54Nervous.
10:55I'm nervous, too.
10:56We're going to stick with it.
10:57We're going to stick with it.
10:58We love them.
11:00Nicole, I want to hear your moment of the season so far.
11:04What has jumped out at you?
11:05Oh, my gosh.
11:06So many moments.
11:07Got to love us some Carla.
11:08She walks in.
11:09Got some great news.
11:11Just quit my job.
11:13I have exciting news to share with you.
11:16I'm a little bit scared.
11:18I left my job today and...
11:22I swear to God, dude.
11:24What is going on here?
11:26Juan was like...
11:27What?
11:29You know when you start laughing because you're so mad?
11:31Yeah.
11:32He was like...
11:35Yeah.
11:36This girl is really in her own world.
11:39All right.
11:40We're going to get to those, too, a little bit later.
11:42But let's move on to our next couple, MM and AKG.
11:45They started off so strong.
11:47There seemed to be real potential.
11:49Like, this was going to be the couple of the season.
11:51But as we've seen, their relationship took a really dark turn.
11:56How did you initially feel as you saw this couple?
11:59I felt okay early on.
12:01I think they were happy with what they saw at the wedding.
12:04And then I think the honeymoon seemed fun.
12:06It seemed like things were going well.
12:08I feel like I got the curtain, like, pulled in front of my face.
12:11I was very confused.
12:12I think it's interesting.
12:14So they get home from the honeymoon, and all of a sudden,
12:16all the touchy-feely sexual chemistry just dies.
12:20Mm-hmm.
12:21Just gone.
12:22That was our first sign of troubled waters.
12:25And it went further south at their housewarming
12:29when AKG called MM aggressive.
12:32Since you guys met each other, how would y'all describe each other?
12:35Um, a little aggressive.
12:40I mean, I feel like you have to be aggressive to do the things you're doing.
12:45Any man knows that that's an inappropriate word to use
12:49to describe a woman, and in particular, a black woman.
12:52He totally meant to say it in that way.
12:54Yes, thank you.
12:55He was trying to get a reaction, and he did.
12:58He got exactly what he wanted.
13:00I'm bothered by the word because it comes with a connotation.
13:03He's not a dummy. He's playing dumb.
13:05But it shows me that he doesn't have her best interest at heart.
13:08He doesn't care about the repercussions
13:10of how not only the viewers will see this, how our friend sees this,
13:14but how the world will see this, how the world will see her and her marriage.
13:18They have two different ways of approaching life.
13:21He's artistic, you know, in the moment, feel my vibe,
13:25and she's very analytical, and she needs it to be black and white.
13:29So her not really getting his signals,
13:32that, to me, is where the conflict stems.
13:36But it's not even like she's coming at him in a bad way.
13:39She's like, tell me. I'm asking you.
13:42She has really only gone at him once.
13:45I'm done, bro. You're wild. You're wild for this.
13:48I've been texting you and calling you for two days.
13:51You haven't texted me or called me.
13:53You're f***ing lying!
13:55I mean, did you see how everybody was just having a great time at the table,
14:00laughing it up, and as soon as he walked in, it was like dark.
14:04Well, he walked in with an attitude.
14:06I just feel like at that dinner was also the respect level he doesn't have for her,
14:10he doesn't have for the other couples.
14:12Him saying to all of them, I'm here to celebrate you guys, but this isn't for you.
14:17No, he came to fight. That's what it was.
14:19You came ready to fight.
14:21I want to ask you about Akeji moving out.
14:25I can't do it anymore.
14:27I can't be around someone who feels like I'm smaller than them.
14:31I don't want to be married to someone who feels like I ain't s***.
14:37Was that the right move?
14:39Absolutely.
14:41I mean, yeah, I didn't hate it, but it was childish.
14:44Whether he was going to move out or not, some conversation with her needed to be had
14:49because that would have been the respectable thing to do.
14:52He's not showing her any respect.
14:54So it seems like there's no coming back, but this is Married at First Sight, y'all.
14:58So we want to show you a clip from the second half of the season.
15:01We'll let you make your own conclusions about how you think things will go.
15:07I'm so scared.
15:09Is it possible to forgive one another?
15:12Is it possible to move forward with more explicit conversations with one another,
15:18more direct communication, if we don't have a thorough understanding of what the other person is saying?
15:24I can commit to that.
15:26I can do it.
15:29I don't see how this is going to work if y'all don't move back in together.
15:32Okay.
15:37Will you move back in with me?
15:41I'll move back in with you.
15:42Okay.
15:46It is so unfortunate.
15:48Unfortunate, right?
15:49It just hurts my heart because you see her ask him, and then when he gives a half-assed,
15:54yeah, she's so happy, smiley.
15:57Ugh, that poor girl.
15:59I just want to remind everybody, by the way, we were split on whether this couple would stay together early on,
16:05but now I think we've seen enough to know what'll happen on decision day.
16:09I mean, do you think they stay married or get divorced?
16:12I don't know what her choice is going to be, but he's going to say no, and they're not going to be together.
16:16Nobody wants to see M.M. continue to get hurt.
16:18Hopefully she will not internalize this experience and find a way to come out of this stronger
16:24because she is not coming out of this with this husband.
16:27I hope if they get to decision day that she's able to be the one to say no first.
16:33Well, I hope that they do not stay together, you know, on decision day unless something miraculous happens with him,
16:39which I'm not expecting.
16:40I also hope that she can work on herself as well and understand that, look, I can't just take everything.
16:46I can't just please and please and please to the detriment of my own self-worth.
16:52You never know how things will play out.
16:54We just have to stay tuned to see what goes on from here.
16:56But I will say you hope that there is either a hell of a breakthrough or she gets up out of there.
17:06We are talking all about the couples from this season in Chicago.
17:09Now, before we get to Madison and Alan, Angelique, you're on the hot seat now.
17:13Give it to us.
17:14Your moment from the season so far.
17:17I'm actually glad that we're talking about Madison and Alan because they're my favorite moment of the season.
17:22It was honestly the surprise birthday party.
17:30I've never had a surprise birthday.
17:33I just thought that was so incredibly sweet.
17:36He just was so touched by her attention to detail.
17:39You see Kate.
17:42It was just one of those moments where you're like, I see why these two are matched.
17:46And then, of course, Luffy is just my favorite character on this season.
17:51At least somebody's humping, right?
17:56With that, let's get going to our next couple, Madison and Alan.
18:00At the wedding, they really seemed to hit it off.
18:03Did this give you all hope that this couple had a chance after you saw the way they hit it off at the wedding?
18:09I knew the moment would be nice.
18:11But after she got to know him a little bit, I knew that she would be like, yeah, he's not really my type.
18:17See, I could see it even on the wedding day.
18:19Really?
18:20Because he was like, oh, my gosh, I hit the jackpot.
18:23And she's like looking at him like, like being sweet, but not exactly someone she'd be attracted to.
18:29I thought the opposite, though.
18:30I mean, they were so here at the wedding.
18:34I mean, even like once the wedding was finished and they went into the elevator and they started making out in the elevator, I was like, OK, we got one.
18:40That initially gave me hope like, all right, this is a really good couple.
18:44OK, things seem to cool off.
18:46And to me, I thought it was the underwear.
18:49All right, I got it, I got it.
18:52Is that broccoli?
18:53It's broccoli.
18:58Quite frankly, like I think he thought he was bringing his fun, cool self.
19:02He's a different character, right?
19:04He is who he is.
19:05Even if he likes those types of like quirky clothes, like just saying, I don't know how my wife is going to react to this.
19:11Let me just pull back a little before I give everything.
19:14I don't want to say it was a mistake, but I would have preferred him to do that rather than just be like, here I am.
19:20Can we also say that he seems to be adjusting to things because Madison confessed that she wanted someone who actively takes care of themselves?
19:28Obviously, going to the gym is really important to me.
19:31Like, I would like my partner to be that way as well.
19:36Fair enough.
19:37I'm just trying to communicate of like what I find attractive and that little changes might help with some of that that I'm having a hard time with.
19:46She's friend zoned him.
19:48She's completely friend zoned him.
19:50I think she's given him like potential to get out of the friend zone.
19:53If you follow my blueprint of transforming your body, you change the way you dress.
20:00Change your humor.
20:01Everything.
20:02Which is why I understand why he's starting or seeming to start to get frustrated.
20:07You're going to resent that.
20:08Yes.
20:09At what point does Alan finally get a breakthrough and get more than a kiss on the cheek?
20:14He's taking her play tennis.
20:15He's going in the gym.
20:16He's doing things that she wants to do.
20:19Kevin, Alan is her buddy.
20:23So let me ask you this.
20:25What are they doing right?
20:27I actually think their communication is actually quite good.
20:30I think Alan could maybe say more.
20:32I would agree that their communication, I would say more on her end is very strong because I really liked that after he didn't show up to the football game, the fact that she was like I'm upset and I'm going to tell him immediately how I feel.
20:45I was pretty disappointed this morning.
20:46I'm not going to lie.
20:47It's frustrating because like I am trying and I do want this to work, but I am struggling.
20:55I was like that's a partnership.
20:58I think it was beautiful the way they discussed it.
21:00It was so grown up.
21:02There are couples this season that are so good at discussing things and some that are so damn bad.
21:07Let's look at where they're going to go this season and if there is hope for the future.
21:11Take a look at this clip.
21:12Look at this.
21:13Okay.
21:14Okay.
21:15Okay.
21:16I'm pleasantly surprised.
21:17How are you now?
21:18The juice is flowing.
21:19All right, darling.
21:20There you go.
21:21See?
21:22All right.
21:23You look hot, honestly.
21:24You look really good.
21:25Did you hear what she said?
21:26That's the first time I've heard it.
21:27Really?
21:28Like a little freaking outfit is what does that?
21:30But if my wife loves the way I look, I don't give a shit.
21:34Yeah, that's a good outfit.
21:37Let's keep these things flowing.
21:39The wallet's coming out tonight.
21:42I tried to tell y'all this man has potential.
21:45She said it.
21:46She thought he looked hot.
21:47This is a partnership that could work.
21:50He just has to, you know, dress like an adult.
21:53That's the thing.
21:54She does not like this man.
21:56She doesn't like this.
21:57And she's trying to change everything about him.
21:59No, no, no.
22:00In that moment, in that store, she is helping him.
22:03Think about the things she's asking him to do.
22:05Work out so you get in a little bit better shape.
22:07Okay?
22:08Get some clothes.
22:09That's not what I hear.
22:10What I hear is work out so then I can like you.
22:13So that you're the guy I'm attracted to.
22:14Yeah.
22:15I mean, what she's doing are great steps.
22:18She is upgrading him.
22:19And I appreciate the ladies for glowing their men up.
22:23You know what?
22:24I'm going to flip back at the start,
22:25whether these two would make it or not.
22:26Knowing what you know now,
22:28what do you think happens on decision day, Gary?
22:30I think that Allen will want to stay together,
22:33but she'll be out.
22:35I just think that she cannot change him
22:37into who she would really want.
22:39So I think it's not going to work.
22:41I don't agree.
22:42I don't think it's going to work.
22:43I think he'll want to say yes, and then she'll say no.
22:45And I think ultimately it'll be better for him
22:47because he'll find someone he won't have to change for.
22:49I'm still staying hopeful that they will find a way
22:52to make this work.
22:53I'm actually starting to wonder
22:54if maybe he might end up being the one
22:57to not be so into this by the end of it
23:00if this is so frustrating.
23:01I have a soft spot in my heart for Allen.
23:04I mean, he's authentically him.
23:06But she just needs to be matched with somebody
23:09that is compatible with her
23:10instead of trying to change and turn this man
23:13into what she wants.
23:14You're not going to make it.
23:15But you know what?
23:16He's going to glow up,
23:17and he's going to blow up with somebody else.
23:20Look, we don't know what's going to happen
23:22the rest of the season.
23:23But Allen, he's probably going to need a wingman soon.
23:28Carla and Juan are up next,
23:29but before we get to them, Gary,
23:31what is your favorite moment of the season so far?
23:35Ooh, my moment of the season
23:37I think would have to be Thomas and Camille
23:39when he said, you know,
23:41I thought you liked light-skinned guys.
23:43Right.
23:44I would assume that maybe you dated more light-skinned dudes,
23:47but that was not the case.
23:48You would assume? Why?
23:50Maybe because you are? I don't know.
23:53Huh?
23:54I don't know what's going through my mind.
23:57I really don't.
23:58And he means no harm by it.
24:00We're going to work through this.
24:03She was like, what?
24:05I'm still confused.
24:07Like, where did his logic trade?
24:09But it showed how culturally aloof he may be,
24:12but she handled it with grace and care,
24:15and they're working well together,
24:16so I love the two of them.
24:17They are working well.
24:18All right, let's talk about our next couple,
24:20Carla and Juan.
24:22It felt like love was written in the stars with these two,
24:25but it's been a slow start.
24:27When they first came together,
24:28it seemed like the perfect match, didn't it, Nicole?
24:30I thought they were both very attractive people,
24:32and I thought they would probably connect physically,
24:34but they seem to be in two different worlds.
24:38It's kind of her instability.
24:40He wants something that's a little more stable.
24:43Yes.
24:44He is all about business, business, business,
24:47but he's also a regimented routine,
24:49and he's found success in that.
24:50And she is like, whatever happens,
24:52wherever the day blows me, I'll do a sound bath,
24:55I love a magic stick.
24:56It's just wild.
24:57Yeah, but I think that that's part of the reason
24:59why these two may have been matched,
25:01because he could stand to loosen up a little bit,
25:04and she could learn to become a little more stable.
25:07So I think they have components
25:08that could even each other out a little,
25:10but are they willing to work toward that?
25:13Look, these are two very passionate people,
25:16and by the way, they're sexy too.
25:18So why aren't they having sex with each other?
25:21What is going on?
25:22What's holding them back?
25:24He's just not that into her.
25:26No?
25:27He's just not.
25:28He can't get past the fact
25:29that she is living in a different world.
25:31He is on Earth, and she is in the universe.
25:34Do you think he's attracted to her?
25:35Maybe.
25:36I mean, I think he thinks she's attractive.
25:38No, but is he attracted to her?
25:40And that's the problem, that's the difference,
25:42and he's kind of said that already.
25:43He says he knows his wife is attractive,
25:45he's just not there yet, and he keeps saying yet,
25:48but, like, is it yet, or is it going to be ever?
25:51Because she's not going to become a different person,
25:53and it's her personality,
25:54and, like, some of the ways she moves,
25:56that is what he doesn't find attractive.
25:58She also hasn't fully, like, emotionally opened up.
26:02I think she talks a bit in circles,
26:03and I know that that's kind of just her lifestyle
26:05and, like, all about her finding her zen
26:07and her vibe and all of that,
26:09but she hasn't emotionally opened up at all.
26:11So he's like, this woman's attractive,
26:13but he almost doesn't know her enough
26:15to know if he's attracted to her.
26:16Okay, well, here's my question.
26:17What does the future hold for Carla and Juan?
26:19Here's a sneak peek at what's still to come from these two.
26:24Take my shirt off?
26:25Take your shirt off,
26:26and we're going to gently caress his body
26:29using these roses, and be playful.
26:33Go everywhere and anywhere with the roses.
26:38Take a nice deep breath, everybody, together,
26:41and make a sound.
26:43Oh.
26:48Ooh.
26:50What just happened?
26:53What was that?
26:56There are so many questions,
26:57so many things that are absolutely terrifying.
27:00I mean, Carla didn't seem to mind.
27:02No. In a surprise to no one.
27:04I'm not worried about Carla.
27:06I'm just worried about Juan.
27:08Juan, blink twice.
27:10twice if you're not okay. Please, Juan, let us know that you're okay. And you know what's
27:16interesting is, is that do you really think that he believes and is like drinking the
27:22Kool-Aid on this metaphysical stuff? Or is he just like, yeah, this is what I gotta do today?
27:25He's just entertaining her. You know, he's entertaining her.
27:28At this point, I think it's kind of like, all right, this is what my wife wants to do. I guess
27:31I'm in this experiment, which we get, we gotta give him credit for not just throwing in the
27:36towel. We've seen it many, many times where people are like, no, I'm done with this. This
27:39is silly. He's giving, he's, he's laying there. He's smiling.
27:44Gary, you predicted that not only would these two work and stay together on decision day,
27:49but there would also be a Mavs baby from these two. How are you feeling now?
27:53Boy, was I wrong.
27:55But it'd be a real cute baby.
27:57It'd be a beautiful baby.
27:59But yeah, you know, I do appreciate that they are giving each other an opportunity,
28:03but I just don't know if they're going to come to a point to where they can move toward the
28:08center for each other's liking.
28:11So Juan and Carla are not staying together. He needs somebody who's able to provide for
28:16themselves, who can stand on their own two feet. And, you know, I think he just wants
28:20somebody a little bit more grounded. So.
28:22And I think she also, when it comes to decision day, I honestly don't say,
28:26see her saying yes either, because I think she wants someone who is
28:29wrapping his arms around her at every chance he can get. And he's just not going to be that person.
28:34I unfortunately think these two are going to get divorced as well,
28:37but I do think it's going to be mutual. Maybe they'll be great friends.
28:43I just want to share my moment of the season so far, and it's an obvious moment because
28:48when M.M. said, if you bring me a clown, you're going to get the circus.
28:54It was a highlight for me.
28:56I've been texting you and calling you for two days.
28:59You haven't texted me or called me.
29:01You're lying.
29:03You're lying.
29:04Let's go to the bathroom.
29:05Let's go to the bathroom.
29:07Clown, bring me a clown. You're going to get a circus.
29:11I just, it was one of the true lines that I just played over and over again.
29:17I hope someone made that a meme because I'm going to send this to some people when they act out.
29:23All right. Now that I've gotten that off my chest, let's move on to our final couple.
29:28Last but not least, Michelle and David. All right.
29:31I don't want to sugarcoat this at all. These two have had their issues since day one,
29:35when shortly after they said I'd do, David revealed to Michelle for some
29:39odd reason that he lived in his parents' basement.
29:42Do you live in the suburbs?
29:43I live in the city.
29:43Okay. Do you live downtown?
29:44I live in the West Loop.
29:45Okay. I currently live in my parents' house.
29:49Oh my gosh. Crazy.
29:52I choose to live at home because I have family that accepts me and whatever.
29:55I have my two careers. So it's just like-
29:59It's like you don't want to live at home forever.
30:00No, not whatsoever.
30:02Yeah. Crazy.
30:08Why did you say it 30 seconds after you said I do?
30:10I mean, come on now. This is probably the least attractive thing about you.
30:15A hundred percent.
30:16Let the girl like you first.
30:17Right.
30:18I live in my parents' basement and I smoke cigarettes. She's like, I'm out. Well, let's go.
30:22I think that sometimes when you feel like you're judged about something,
30:25you start to feel insecure about it. And so I think he was just trying to beat her to the punch.
30:29I was shocked that he did that. I think everybody was shocked.
30:32But on the honeymoon, she just couldn't get over it. She couldn't get past it.
30:36Do you think she was giving him a fair chance on the honeymoon, Emily?
30:41No, she was bringing it up every other sentence.
30:43He was like, do you want breakfast? And she's like, you live in your parents' basement.
30:47But let me just tell you, the girl is standing on business.
30:51She is-
30:51Well, I don't know if you have to bring it up every five minutes.
30:55Why not? If you have a problem with that.
30:57You can have a problem with it. I have no problem with her problem that he lives in
31:01his parents' basement. But it's the fact that she's not giving him a chance to really talk
31:06about anything else. Like if all I'm getting is, you live in your parents' basement,
31:09you live in your parents' basement. We're not so one dimensional that that's the only thing
31:13about him. And she's not giving him a chance to show other qualities that he may have.
31:18It was just so strange to me. I gave him credit for being so honest and open and being like,
31:23I'm owning this. It's who I am. These are the things I've done. But it was just weird how he
31:27kept dropping them on her. Baby, he is so delusional. No, don't get me wrong. I love
31:32me some David. A nice guy. A grown on me. I don't want people to think that we do not like him.
31:37He is a nice guy. We're talking about a relationship and a marriage.
31:43Yeah. He's just, the way he sees the world is from David lens. And that's not the same lens
31:49that his wife sees the world through. Did she keep trying? Yes. I give her credit all through
31:53the season because she did keep going on dates. She kept doing things. She was very appreciative
31:57when he showed up to places. What turned everything around for us when she finally turned inward
32:02and started to understand what is it about me, my past, my upbringing that is making this so
32:08triggering for me and understanding that kind of allowed her to finally be vulnerable and share
32:14that with him. So he could understand here's why she's so fixated on this issue. And so
32:20at a certain point she did actually start really trying and not just showing up. And by the way,
32:25what about their one month anniversary? Which was interesting because David really
32:32seemed to be trying. Well, hello there. How are you? I like that color on you. Thank you.
32:40For our one month anniversary tonight, try to give Michelle a sense that I can live the
32:47lifestyle she wants and what she needs. And this is something that she likes to do. So
32:51I'm hoping that makes her happy. That was really special, I thought. I mean, and that was one of
33:00the times where you can see Michelle understand that, OK, this man really is showing up for me.
33:08Those are those things that I asked for in a partner. And so, yeah, maybe he's not giving
33:13the looks, but that is the stability that I wanted with someone who will put forth that
33:17extra effort and be there. Isn't it more important that he didn't show up? He was like, you can't show
33:22up late to your anniversary dinner. I thought I'd have time to go home and change. It's like,
33:25it's more important that he showed up on time than, yeah, he didn't have a collared shirt on.
33:28But that's the thing. When you're over somebody, any little thing is going to bother you. It doesn't
33:34matter what they do. You're going to find a problem with anything. And I think at a certain
33:38point, we've seen it. He is tired of being the punching bag. And we see him literally getting
33:44worn down. And it's almost like he's saying, like, I don't know how much more I can take.
33:49It's like he can't do anything right with her. And I think he's starting to feel that in a major way.
33:57Last night, David texted me, you are so damn fine. I want to eat you up.
34:03That was about food. My cousin Denise texted me and I was like, I'd eat her up.
34:07The food that she had right now. Oh, so that wasn't even to me? No,
34:10it was definitely not to me. You weren't with me. Oh, why didn't you say that?
34:13OK, so I actually want to bring something up. Oh, that has been bothering me.
34:19The text message, it's suspicious. I have nothing to hide.
34:22But where's the photo? I don't have it. What?
34:26To me, it looks like you are reaching out to other women.
34:29It appears that way in your eyes, but it was not.
34:31Now I'm just like wondering, like, who it is. And is he going to, like, cop up to who it is?
34:36You have to air it out. Yeah, because you're going to be on edge.
34:39You're going to be on edge. It's going to be an interesting couple's retreat.
34:43Who do you think it is? Say it.
34:50I'm just going to be honest with you. If you're going to lie, lie well.
34:54Be a good liar. Exactly.
34:56Like the moment you sent it to her, you saw you sent it and you deleted it real quick.
35:00You didn't start coming up with a story in your head then?
35:03Well, I think panic is setting in, right? Like, I've been caught.
35:07So what am I going to do? I'm just going to, I'm going to lie and try to lie.
35:10So I do understand. I don't condone, but I understand why he doubled down.
35:15But he wasn't a good liar. He didn't have to double down.
35:17He didn't. But David should have just flipped the whole thing.
35:20He should have been like, yeah, you don't want me.
35:22You don't want me to separate. He could have flipped it on her so quick.
35:25Like, I'm trying to figure out, like, what he could have said.
35:28And it was so bad that I can't even help him.
35:33There's nothing you can say. Like, you clearly just got caught, dude.
35:38I mean, they said there's a couples retreat. I can't wait.
35:40I have my popcorn ready. It's going to be spicy.
35:44All right. Let me ask you this. Now that we're at the midway point,
35:47what are you hoping to see for the rest of the season?
35:49I'm really just hoping for like the ultimate love story with Camille and Thomas.
35:54I want to see this hot text.
35:56I can't wait to get the bomb of this, right?
35:58You got the receiving end of this text.
36:02I want to see what happens with Carla and Juan post that Rose rendezvous.
36:10Maybe it'll lead to the bedroom. Maybe some spice.
36:12I'll keep hope alive.
36:13I'm excited to watch it.
36:14Okay. I will say this. I hope to see MM rise up.
36:18I hope the second half of the season,
36:20she takes that same boss lady that she is from work and brings it home
36:25and is like, I wish you would one more time.
36:28I think we've seen in past seasons where people literally just quit and don't try.
36:32I just want them to keep trying because marriage is work
36:36and you can't get on a show and want to be married and not put in the work to be married.
36:41And you know what? That's a perfect place to stop.
36:43Because with that, we have covered all of our Chicago couples.
36:46And by the way, I can't wait for this second half of the season,
36:50because I mean, we just laid a little spice on the table, didn't we?
36:54It's getting spicy. Yeah, it's spicy.
36:55The Chicago season is at the halfway point. There is still so much more to come.
36:59Thank you all for joining us tonight and sharing all your thoughts on these new relationships.
37:05I love it when we all get together.
37:06We're all excited to see how this season plays out.
37:09Until then, thanks for joining us.
37:10Good night and take care, everybody.
37:15Still to come this season on Married at First Sight.
37:25Whatever.
37:26I'm super grateful to have you in my life.
37:28You can build an empire.
37:30I do feel closer to you and I do want this to work.
37:38I received a text message from David and it said,
37:43you are so damn fine, I can't wait to eat you.
37:48I think that's just repulsive.
37:50When you act like a ****, that's what you get called.
37:53I was up until like 3.20.
37:54Why does it matter? I came home.
37:56Show a little **** empathy.
37:58**** off. Like, are you kidding me?
38:00We have issues with the vulnerability piece and really, really putting ourselves out there.
38:06Yeah, we got some figuring out to do.
38:09We will apologize.
38:10Married people don't go on dates with other women and they don't sex other women.
38:14Yeah, it feels like you're protecting something or you're hiding something.
38:18I've been exploring a little bit with some of the urges, I guess, that I've been having.
38:24I told you I was done with that conversation.
38:25I gave what I said and that's it.
38:27I'm not done with it, though.
38:28Okay.
38:29Because I don't believe you.
38:31I'm not trying to tiptoe into the zone.
38:32No, you didn't tiptoe.
38:33You **** jumped in there like a bull.
38:35Okay.
38:36I didn't do ****.
38:37You did.
38:38Are we living in a la-la land?
38:40Look at the positive.
38:41Look at the positive.
38:42Butterfly is positive.
38:43**** you.
38:44**** her and **** you.
38:49The time has come for you to decide.
38:56I feel my chest and my heart, like, pounding.
38:59Do you want to stay married?
39:02This is the first healthy relationship that I've been in.
39:06We're gonna divorce.
39:08You do push me to be better, but yeah, I just...
39:15Sorry, but I just, I really cannot.
