04:08The Mahawar in Maharashtra
04:12Over Samajwadi Party MLA
04:15Abu Azmi's comments on Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb has escalated
04:20The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Iknat Shinde has hit out at Abu Azmi
04:26Iknat Shinde says he's shocked the suspension of leaders like Abu Azmi from the Maharashtra State Assembly
04:34Iknat Shinde says Abu Azmi's statement has consequences for the Samajwadi Party Maharashtra Chief
04:43Iknat Shinde says people of Maharashtra will not forgive Abu Azmi for statements like he did
04:50Like he gave on the cruel Mughal King Aurangzeb and the torture of Chhatrapati Samhaji Maharaj
04:59I'll get to much more on this story but first listen in to Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Iknat Shinde
05:07Iknat Shinde says people of Maharashtra will not forgive Abu Azmi for statements like he did
05:24Iknat Shinde says people of Maharashtra will not forgive Abu Azmi for statements like he did
05:28So even as the fire rages in Maharashtra, the Congress Party has dived straight into this controversy
05:41It's waded into this controversy where Abu Azmi of the Samajwadi Party praised Aurangzeb
05:46Now Congress Party Member of Parliament Imran Masood says history cannot be erased
05:52Imran Masood, Congress Party Member of Parliament from Saharanpur says Aurangzeb was not a tyrant
05:59He was the king of this country, Aurangzeb ruled India for 49 years, he was not cruel
06:06How could he have ruled for 49 years if he was cruel is what Imran Masood of the Congress Party said in an exclusive interview to India today
06:17So first it's the Samajwadi Party's MLA in Maharashtra and the Maharashtra Samajwadi Party Chief Abu Azmi who stoked the Aurangzeb fire
06:27And now Congress Party Member of Parliament from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, he's escalating it
06:32Meanwhile Abu Azmi has backtracked after Maharashtra-wide outrage
06:37He says he is taking back his remarks on Aurangzeb, he wants work to continue in the Maharashtra Assembly
06:45He does not want the Maharashtra Assembly to be disrupted because of his comments on Aurangzeb
07:16Who made Kailash Mansarovar win?
07:18The Akhand Bharat you are talking about, that Akhand Bharat was in Aurangzeb's time
07:22From China to Afghanistan and down to Burma, that Akhand Bharat was in Aurangzeb's time
07:30You are talking about Akhand Bharat, so read this first
07:33I am not praising anyone or badmouthing anyone
07:37But I am saying that don't share incomplete knowledge, read the knowledge first and then speak
07:43The Shiv Sena on the other hand says look at what Aurangzeb did to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
07:51Look at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's war for the Hindu Swaraj, his war against the Mughal tyranny
07:58And it wasn't just that it was restricted to one part of Maharashtra
08:03That war that subsequently ensured that the Mughals were uprooted
08:09Where the Peshwas took that war forward
08:12But I want to bring in India today's Ritwik Bhalekar who joins us from Mumbai
08:16And Rahul Gautam who joins us from the national capital on this big story
08:19Ritwik, Abu Azmi is furiously backtracking now
08:23He is backpedaling, he has apologised for his remarks
08:26One, why has he apologised?
08:28Two, is his apology acceptable to the Shiv Sena where Iknachinde insists that Abu Azmi has to be suspended from the assembly?
08:40Absolutely, on the day two of Maharashtra's ongoing budget session
08:45We saw how ruling alliance MLAs protested against the remark made by Abu Azmi glorifying Aurangzeb
08:55After ruling alliance MLAs protested, it was followed by even some of the parties who are in opposition
09:05So the ire was seen against him from all the parties in Maharashtra
09:12And ruling alliance was demanding that Abu Azmi should not just be suspended from the assembly
09:21But he should also be booked for sedition charge
09:25As the statements has hurt the sentiments of the Maharashtrians and Marathas
09:31As well as he should not be allowed to stay in Maharashtra state
09:36Is what Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje, former MP has demanded
09:40So the ruckus we saw today in Maharashtra assembly and the proceedings of the house were urgent for four times and for the whole day
09:52Ritwik, this seems to be escalating and this seems to be escalating at an exponential stage
09:57If now there are leaders in Maharashtra and that too from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's extended family
10:04If they are also coming around and saying that you should not permit Abu Azmi even to live in Maharashtra
10:09If he praises Aurangzeb and belittles the sacrifices made by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
10:17Yes absolutely, former MP of Rajya Sabha, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
10:26Today visited Vidhan Bhavan and he also protested against the remark of Abu Azmi
10:32He questioned government that what kind of law and order is being handled by the government
10:38And how can someone like Abu Azmi who has not just passed the derogatory statements
10:43But have also insulted the sentiments of lakhs of Marathas in Maharashtra
10:48And he should be thrown out of the state and he has no place to stay here is what Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raji is demanding
10:56Okay stay with me for a moment, I want to bring in Rahul Gautam for more on this story
11:02So Rahul, explain this to us, so even as Abu Azmi apologises, even as Abu Azmi is back peddling
11:11You have Imran Masood, a Congress Party Member of Parliament and a prominent leader in the Congress
11:17He is escalating this, he appears to be escalating this in that exclusive interview to India Today
11:22He says Aurangzeb wasn't cruel at all, he ruled this country for 49 years, expanded the borders, made that Akhand Bharat
11:29Explain the thinking, explain this thinking
11:33So Gaurav, this comment that was made by Imran Masood is likely to put Congress Party in a tight spot
11:42And if you remember earlier also, Rahul Gandhi had also very strong opinions against Dr Savarkar
11:49Now Dr Savarkar and Shambhaji Maharaj, Shivaji Maharaj, all these are icons that are hailed by Shiv Sena UBT
11:58Which is a faction led by Uddhav Thackeray and obviously this is going to cause trouble in terms of alliance management
12:04We have seen earlier also that how Sharad Pawar had earlier brokered a peace deal between Congress Party and Shiv Sena
12:11And convinced Rahul Gandhi that he should not speak against Dr Savarkar at a time when elections were about to be conducted in the state of Maharashtra
12:21So you can expect that this comment that has been made by Imran Masood wherein he has endorsed the views that were earlier expressed by Abu Azmi
12:28Is likely to cause trouble, is going to put the entire MVA alliance in a situation wherein they would have to distance themselves
12:39At least the Shiv Sena faction that is led by Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar
12:45Obviously the other part is that Congress Party has been saying that now a days history is being distorted
12:51Films and biopics are being in a way to suit the narrative of the ruling party
12:56This has been their stance but given the sentiments and the kind of respect that Shambhaji Maharaj, Shivaji Maharaj have in the state of Maharashtra
13:07You can expect that this is certainly going to cause trouble amongst the alliance partners as far as Mahavikasagar is concerned
13:13But you know when they talk about distortion of history, the fact that Shambhaji Maharaj was captured, tortured over 40 days
13:24Limb by limb, skin peeled off, limbs chopped off, eyes gouged out, that's recorded history
13:31The fact that Aurangzeb had the 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur beheaded in the national capital
13:39where you have Gurdwara Sisganj today, the fact Bhai Matidas, Bhai Satidas, Bhai Dayala
13:46They were killed brutally on orders of Aurangzeb, Bhai Matidas was sawed alive vertically
13:53Bhai Satidas was wrapped in cotton wool and set on fire, Bhai Dayala was boiled in a cauldron
13:59Now this is something like Islamic State kind of torture, this is recorded history
14:05The fact that the four Sahibzades, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singhji, the manner in which they were killed
14:12The youngest being just 6 years old, all this is recorded history
14:16How is this distortion of history point one?
14:19How is it that they think that they'll say that Aurangzeb wasn't cruel and that will be acceptable to India?
14:25Is this as part of some kind of appeasement politics, the next elections of course in Bihar?
14:36This is what being alleged that this is being done essentially to woo minority votes
14:42or to appease minority voters for the upcoming elections in Bihar
14:48But as I was telling you earlier also, this is certainly going to cause troubles within MVA
14:52given the fact that at least the regional parties of Maharashtra were partnered with Congress Party
14:56In fact I must also tell our viewers that earlier the district Aurangabad
15:02the very name was proposed to be changed to Sambhaji Nagar
15:06that had happened during the chief ministership of Uddhav Thackeray
15:10So all these political parties, at least Shiv Sena, NCP, they draw inspiration and power from
15:16these big ideological icons of Maharashtra, Shambhaji Maharaj, Shivaji Maharaj
15:21So this endorsement of statement by Imran Masood of Abu Azmi is certainly going to cause troubles
15:29Also we must understand that as far as Congress Party is concerned
15:33on record the leaders are saying that this is a non-serious issue
15:36which is being stoked or being amplified by the BJP for political reasons
15:40but off record they are saying that one can't really see things that have happened 300 or 400 years back
15:49in today's perspective and they believe that in today's world or today's scenario
15:56biopics, history, all these things are being distorted by the ruling dispensation
16:02only to benefit or suit their narrative
16:04So you can expect that this is certainly going to escalate given the fact that
16:08by endorsing the views expressed by Abu Azmi who himself has now backtracked from his statement
16:14is certainly going to cause troubles within the alliance partners of MBA
16:19Okay, of course it's recorded history, Masre Alamgiri records how the temples in 1669 and 1670
16:27Aurangzeb issued instructions for the destruction of the Kashi Vishwanath temple
16:31and the Keshavarai temple, the Shri Krishna Jan Bhoomi in Mathura
16:35All of this is recorded history then and not now
16:39Distortion, how, remains that big question
16:42Stay with me gentlemen because the latest controversy is centered around this film Chhava
16:48Chhava means lion cub, refers to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
16:54a national icon like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Hindu Swaraj
16:59Of course a lot of effort was made for decades after decades to show that he was just a regional king in Maharashtra
17:06and not a national icon who taught India to respect themselves and fight for what is right
17:15But this led to a big face-off in Maharashtra between the Shiv Sena
17:19and this is Shiv Sena, the Iknat Shinde group, fuming over Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi
17:26claiming Aurangzeb was not cruel and that he's been wrongly portrayed in the film Chhava
17:32Abu Azmi has now been backed by Imran Masood of the Congress Party
17:37but under intense pressure Abu Azmi has apologized, the controversy continues to escalate
18:01I wore this crown on my head
18:05I will wear it again when that Sambhaji wins
18:09It will echo all over India
18:14I will make it red wherever I see a rainbow
18:24An explosive showdown in Maharashtra over Mughal ruler Aurangzeb
18:28After his depiction as a tyrant pitted against the Maratha Empire in Vicky Kaushal's Chhava
18:33SP MLA Abu Azmi sparked a massive controversy after calling Aurangzeb a benevolent emperor
18:39who helped Hindu temples and is wrongly portrayed in the movie
18:44They are showing the wrong history
18:46Aurangzeb has built many temples
18:50If you go to Varanasi, you will see a Pandit's daughter
18:54who was supposed to marry a soldier of his own
18:58was killed by two elephants
19:02and the Pandits built a mosque for her
19:06So you don't consider Aurangzeb to be a cruel ruler?
19:08No, I don't
19:09Aurangzeb is not a cruel ruler?
19:11Not at all
19:16Maratha groups and Maharashtra leaders erupted in protest
19:21Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:24Questioning praise for the Mughal ruler who is seen by many as persecutor of Hindus and destroyer of temples
19:30Multiple places in Maharashtra saw anti-Aurangzeb's term
19:34A zero-air fire was filed against Abu Azmi and his suspension from assembly loomed large
19:41Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:44Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:46Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:48Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:50Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:52Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:54Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:56Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
19:58Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:00Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:02Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:04Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:06Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:08Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:10Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:12Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:14Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:16Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:18Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:20Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:22Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:24Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:26Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:28Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:30Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:32Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:34Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:36Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:38Abu Azmi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
20:40Aurangzeb has been accused of demolishing temples.
20:43He has demolished temples and given property, land and money.
20:49Didn't the BJP government demolish temples in Gujarat?
20:54You have demolished 300 temples in Gujarat.
20:57You are demolishing mosques and temples.
21:00Let history be history.
21:05Amid maha upheaval on his remarks,
21:07Abu Azmi blinked,
21:09saying that he retracts his statement
21:11as it has hurt feelings.
21:33Will the climb down by the SPMLA
21:35douse the raging Aurangzeb fire in Maharashtra?
21:39Bureau report, India Today.
22:10They urinated on him.
22:12This is the fate of a Sarpanch in Maharashtra.
22:16A Sarpanch in Beed Santosh Deshbhuk.
22:20His fault, according to those who are alleged to have killed him,
22:24he tried to stop an extortion bid.
22:27Shocking details have now come in public domain.
22:30The Mumbai police have filed a charge sheet.
22:32India Today has accessed details of that charge sheet
22:34and it's led to the arrest of a senior minister's close aide
22:39in the Maharashtra.
22:40And this led to the resignation of the minister, Dhananjay Munde.
22:45The murder accused in the videos,
22:48and some of those videos we cannot even show you,
22:50they're so disturbing.
22:51They show absolutely no remorse.
22:54They mock the victim.
22:56As he begs for water,
22:58they urinate on him and beat him to death.
23:01I get you more in this report.
23:05A murder so gruesome, it sends shivers down your spine.
23:10Santosh Deshbhuk, a Sarpanch in Maharashtra's Beed district,
23:14tortured and murdered in December last year
23:17for attempting to foil an alleged extortion bid targeting an energy company.
23:21The Mumbai police have arrested six accused
23:25and India Today has accessed damning details in the charge sheet.
23:29That gives details of the photos and videos of the brutality.
23:35SANTOSH DESHBHUK
23:39Santosh Deshbhuk was thrashed with iron rods, sticks and iron chains.
23:44He was stripped and tied to a car during the assault.
23:48When the victim asked for water, an accused urinated on his face
23:52and forced him to sit on the ground half naked.
23:55It did not stop there.
23:57More images emerged of the murder accused
23:59urinating on a profusely bleeding Deshbhuk.
24:02He endured the torture for over three hours.
24:05The murder accused showed no remorse,
24:07making video and audio calls and recording multiple videos of the assault.
24:12A 41-inch gas pipe, an iron rod with five clutch wires,
24:17wooden sticks and two sharp weapons, fighter and dahakati,
24:22were used by the accused to torture Deshbhuk.
24:25Six people have been arrested for the heinous murder,
24:28while one is still on the run.
24:32One of the accused, Valmik Karad,
24:34is a close aide of NCP leader Dhananjay Munde.
24:37Under tremendous pressure,
24:39Munde on Tuesday stepped down as minister, citing ill health.
24:43I have accepted this resignation.
24:48I have sent this resignation to Rajyapal ji for the next investigation.
24:56I welcome him.
24:58Rajyapal ji should have stepped down earlier.
25:01He should not have sworn before stepping down.
25:04He would not have had to face all this.
25:09The accused should have stepped down earlier.
25:12Dhananjay should have stepped down earlier.
25:14NCP chief and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar
25:17ducked questions on Munde's resignation.
25:28The opposition claims law and order is failing in Maharashtra.
25:37The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi is demanding Dhananjay Munde be made a co-accused.
25:42I am saying that one resignation will not do anything.
25:46A charge sheet should be amended.
25:49An improvised charge sheet should be issued.
25:51This should be done in a fast track court.
25:53We want to say that this murder case should be investigated in a transparent manner.
26:07The gruesome murder of the Sarpanch fighting extortion
26:10has exposed the ugly nexus between politicians and criminals in Beed
26:14where many windmill power generation projects are coming up.
26:18Bureau report, India Today.
26:23India Today's access chilling details recorded in the charge sheet against the accused.
26:29Santosh Deshmukh is the Sarpanch in Beed area.
26:34He had exposed this extortion racket.
26:37The accused caught hold of him.
26:40They wanted him not to make that extortion complaint.
26:43They beat him.
26:44I want to get to these details.
26:45They beat him with iron rods.
26:47They beat him with sticks and with motorcycle chains.
26:51That's the information that we've been able to glean.
26:53Let me also get you more information.
26:55He was stripped and tied to a vehicle so that when he's beaten, he's unable to run away.
27:02Deshmukh was tortured for hours.
27:05Santosh Deshmukh, the Sarpanch, was tortured for hours.
27:08He begged for water.
27:09So when he begged for water, instead of giving him water to drink,
27:13they actually urinated on his face.
27:15That's not all.
27:16They made him sit without clothes on the ground, half naked.
27:20And as he lay bleeding, they urinated on him again.
27:26All over again.
27:27It happened for hours.
27:29With a 41-inch gas pipe, they were beating him.
27:32And they beat him to death.
27:33Not only that.
27:34They actually recorded a video.
27:37And not one.
27:38Multiple videos and photographs.
27:40Videos and audios.
27:42They made audio calls to each other during this assault.
27:46The accused, on their own mobile phones, were recording this.
27:50Not one, not two, not three.
27:52But 15 videos were made.
27:54Eight photographs of the assault were clicked by the accused themselves.
27:58Because they apparently, and this is the information and I'll get you more details on this in just a moment.
28:03This is what the Mumbai police charge sheet says.
28:05Because they wanted to establish themselves as the law.
28:10As the power behind the power.
28:12I want to quickly cut across to India Today's Mustafa Shaikh.
28:15Who joins us with more on this big story.
28:18Mustafa, this is shocking.
28:21Give us more details in terms of the accused.
28:24And the alleged link that forced the Minister Munde to put in his papers.
28:29What legal and penal action now follow?
28:34Excellency Gaurav, you were sharing the details from the charge sheet which has been filed by the state CID in this case.
28:41This is not just a gruesome crime.
28:44It seems to be a crime which is connected with the political influence.
28:49And that's where the big story is.
28:50That in the area of Pir, there were politicians who were trying to establish themselves as people.
28:57Who will have the last word in the area.
28:59So this Santosh Deshmukh entire case had started when these people.
29:03These accused had reached to ask for extortion from owner of a company who had set up a plant there.
29:09And Santosh Deshmukh being a sarpanch of that village.
29:12He stood up to that for the help of that company for help of the businessman.
29:16Saying that you cannot extort money from the businessman.
29:19That it was the ego of these accused which was hurt.
29:22They abducted him as you mentioned the chilling details which has come forward.
29:27But at the same time when the name of Valmik Karad came up.
29:31Who is connected in a business way to Dhananjay Deshmukh.
29:35Who has just resigned as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in the cabinet of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
29:42So Dhananjay Munde and Valmik Karad link were being established for over past 3 months.
29:48There were information after information which was coming out to show.
29:53How the politicians were trying to grab the business area of Beed and run an extortion racket there.
29:59It doesn't end here.
30:01Now the CID will be further investigating whether somehow Dhananjay Munde is involved.
30:07How his link can be established.
30:09But at the same point the photos of this entire cruelty which has been committed by the accused.
30:16Came out in the charge sheets 3 months later.
30:19Then there was a uproar in the people in the public that there seems to be a straight connection.
30:24And the government is delaying Dhananjay Munde's resignation.
30:26And yesterday a meeting was called in which Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar the NCP chief was present.
30:31After which this decision was taken that Munde should resign on the moral grounds.
30:36And the further investigation will now happen back to you.
30:39Further investigation and that is what becomes very important.
30:43And stay with me don't go away Mustafa because this story is only escalating.
30:47And Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray group leader Uddhav Thackeray has launched a frontal attack on the Devendra Fadnavis government on the Dhananjay Munde case.
30:57Now right now Uddhav Thackeray says did the Maharashtra Home Ministry not have details that have come out now in the charge sheet.
31:05Uddhav Thackeray has pointed out that these videos were available.
31:09These pictures were available.
31:11Details were available.
31:13Why is it that Dhananjay Munde has only been told to resign now and why not earlier.
31:19But that's not all Uddhav Thackeray is saying this is a big failure of the Home Ministry of Maharashtra.
31:25And the Maharashtra government must respond not just to the delay but also on what action is being taken.
31:32This is the question that's now being asked.
31:34So a minister being asked to resign on moral grounds is not action enough.
31:40One what is the legal culpability.
31:42What is the evidence and this is the question that's now being asked of the investigators.
31:47What is the evidence that links the extortionists and the alleged murderers to the team of the ministers.
31:53And where does the chain go and what legal action follows.
31:57That's a very very big aspect but listen in to Uddhav Thackeray.
32:01I'll get you more on this big story.
32:09I want to bring in Mustafa Shaikh once again.
32:38Because Mustafa this is a very very disturbing story.
32:41And there is merit in Uddhav Thackeray saying what was the Home Ministry in the state doing all along.
32:47When the videos were available when the photographs was available were available.
32:51And this conversation this conversation was happening evidence was there.
32:55Why is it that the minister has been asked to resign only now.
32:59It's a it's a valid question.
33:04Gaurav saying that whatever videos and footages which have come as part of the charge sheet as a video grab
33:10were already available with the State Department with the police.
33:13And why if an action can take place when there's an uproar after the charge sheet is leaked.
33:17Why the action was not taken earlier.
33:19Maybe it's somewhere hints to the alliance politics which it all boils down to.
33:24Whether or not there was an attempt to save because Dhananjay Munde is from the NCP.
33:28The NCP is in the ruling alliance in Mahayati.
33:30In December 9th this entire murder had taken place.
33:34It was in November that Devendra Fadnavis Mahayati 2.0 government was formed.
33:39So clearly the questions are being raised.
33:42And importantly Gaurav the most important part here is that nobody is asking for an investigation against Dhananjay Munde.
33:50But the MLAs of the BJP the ruling alliance.
33:53Suresh Das who is an MLA from the BJP from the same area.
33:57He is the person from the first day who is leading this charge against Dhananjay Munde.
34:02Saying that Dhananjay Munde should resign because of his involvement in this crime and many other extortion records which were operating in Bir.
34:08So it is for the police to find out the truth.
34:10But it is the sitting government's MLAs representatives who have been saying.
34:14The cousin sister of Dhananjay Munde who is also a minister Pankaj Munde.
34:19She is saying that it's good that the resignation has come.
34:22The resignation has come late on the moral ground it should have come earlier.
34:25Such defamation of the family would have stopped for last 3 months.
34:29So clearly it's the ruling party who is basically giving all the evidences.
34:33But the resignation is not coming which has come today.
34:36And now the questions are being raised by the opposition as to why it was so late.
34:40And whether now the resignation has come so late.
34:42So whether fair investigation or probe will take place against Munde back to you.
34:46Keep tracking that story I will come back to you for more.
34:49Maharashtra has to be that driver if India's economy has to catapult and become the 3rd largest economy in the world.
34:56And that clearly won't happen if we have extortion rackets going on where industries and businesses need to be set up.
35:03We will be tracking that story very closely.
35:04Welcome back big story coming in from Uttar Pradesh where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has hailed the spectacular success of the Mahakum.
35:19Yogi Adityanath spoke of how the Mahakum had played a very important role in steering the economy not just of the region.
35:29But also the country with 66 crore devotees from India and overseas visiting Prayagraj.
35:385 new religious corridors are coming up including from Prayagraj to Kashi and Prayagraj to Ayodhya.
35:45He also spoke of how this had helped the local economy, how global media had hailed this.
35:52He hit out at the Samajwadi party for spreading misinformation, disinformation including fake videos and stories about the Prayagraj Mahakum and how that had failed to dampen the morale of the Sanatan Dharm followers.
36:22This is from the U.S.
36:23There was an event where more people came together than the total population of America.
36:31BBC was the biggest gathering of Mahakum humanity.
36:41Express Tribune was the biggest religious gathering in the world.
36:50The New York Times
37:05Writers
37:13The Guardian
37:19CNN
37:50On both issues.
37:54On the issues of behavior and on the issues of ideals.
38:01Your behavior,
38:04as Dr. Lohia had said,
38:08is a true Samajwadi
38:13who stays away from property and progeny.
38:19You can see that from the actions of your party.
38:24And in the form of ideals, he had said for India that Ram, Krishna and Shankar,
38:32as long as there are three ideals of India, no one can dominate India.
38:41On the basis of India's unity,
38:43as long as the people of India consider these three great men as ideals, India will remain India.
38:56And the Samajwadi party has no faith in these three great men.
39:14Abhishek, when we talk about this Mahakum of faith,
39:17where you and I had the good fortune to sit together in Trivedi Sangam.
39:24How is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath,
39:27seeing this Mahakum as a great success of India,
39:32as a great success of Sanatan?
39:35According to him, what is the biggest achievement?
39:38What is the biggest achievement of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath?
39:42It is a great achievement.
39:43When the Chief Minister gave a speech at the end of the budget session,
39:48his entire speech was focused on Kumbh.
39:53Kumbh and Sanatan.
39:54And for this, he has also surrounded the Samajwadi party.
39:58He has told the highlights of the foreign newspapers about Kumbh.
40:06Not only this, he has also praised the people who raised their fingers on Kumbh.
40:12Apart from this, if we talk about the budget,
40:15he has said many things that 3.5 lakh crore rupees
40:18is being increased by this Mahakum in the economy of Uttar Pradesh.
40:23Apart from this, the way he has surrounded Chacha Shivpal,
40:28that you could not go.
40:30So in one way, in today's speech, he surrounded Sapa on one side,
40:33and on the other side, he talked a lot about Sanatan and Kumbh.
40:37He also said that his impact will be seen in 2027.
40:40Abhishek, thank you very much for joining me.
41:04On the one side, you have President Putin's army,
41:07that's bombing Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
41:10On the other hand, Ukraine will no longer get military supplies from America
41:15till they sort out the road ahead.
41:18Give more clarity on the road ahead. Take a look.
41:33After his argument in the White House,
41:35Trump hits a pause on military aid for Ukraine
41:38to pressurize Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
41:41to engage in peace talks with Russia.
41:45Well, I just think you should be more appreciative
41:47because this country has stuck with them through thick and thin.
41:51We've given them much more than Europe,
41:53and Europe should have given more than us
41:55because, as you know, that's right there, that's the border.
41:57I want all of those young people to stop being killed.
42:01They're being killed by the thousands every single week,
42:03and that's not young people from the United States,
42:07but it's on a human basis.
42:09I want to see it stop.
42:12Trump said Zelensky should be more appreciative of U.S. military aid
42:16in the Russia-Ukraine war,
42:18and both countries should make a deal and put a stop to all the killings.
42:23You know, of course they have their views,
42:25and of course they're not always going to agree with us,
42:27but they've got to participate in the conversation.
42:30They weren't willing to do that on Friday, so the president said,
42:32send them home.
42:33The president is actually taking a much more realistic perspective
42:36and saying, this can't go on forever.
42:38We can't fund this thing forever, the Ukrainians can't fight forever,
42:41so let's bring this thing to a peaceful settlement.
42:44The pause by Trump government freezes shipments to Ukraine,
42:47including critical munitions such as anti-tank weapons,
42:51thousands of artillery rounds and rockets,
42:53which keeps the country afloat in its war against Russia.
42:57U.S. has provided $31.7 billion for military aid to Ukraine in August 2021.
43:05Zelensky has also got 12,000 anti-armor systems,
43:09over 1,550 anti-aircraft missiles from NATO allies.
43:15Apart from $34.8 billion for border control,
43:19anti-terrorism ops and demining operations from the U.S.
43:24U.S. in 2025 gave Ukraine $65.9 billion in military assistance,
43:31$69.2 billion in military assistance around February 2024.
43:38The lack of security guarantees for Ukraine 11 years ago
43:44allowed Russia to begin with the occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbass.
43:49Later, the absence of security guarantees enabled Russia to launch a full-scale invasion.
43:54And now, due to the lack of clear security guarantees,
43:57Russia is keeping this war ongoing.
44:00The world sees this, and the whole world acknowledges it.
44:07While stopping military aid for Ukraine,
44:10Trump has decided to give relief to Russia.
44:13The U.S. is drawing up a plan to give Russia relief from sanctions
44:17as President Donald Trump seeks to restore ties with Moscow.
44:21All this after explosive war of words between Zelensky and Trump.
44:44Is Ukraine staring at no option but to strike a forced truce with invader Putin?
44:51Bureau report, India Today.
45:01And after U.S. President Donald Trump pressed the pause button on military supplies to Ukraine,
45:06Kiev has said it will do all it can to maintain ties with the United States of America.
45:12I want to get India Today's Foreign Affairs Editor, Geeta Mohan,
45:15joining us with details on the story.
45:18So Geeta, there are two tracks that President Trump is following.
45:21One track is stopping military aid to Ukraine.
45:24The other is talking about how the fund streams from Russia can be removed.
45:29What's the next step there?
45:30So Ukraine and Europe have reason to be worried.
45:33Well, absolutely, because there are a few aspects, Gaurav, if I heard you correctly,
45:39it has to do with the fact that America has pulled out of Ukraine when it comes to military aid.
45:48But on the other hand, they're also looking at easing sanctions against Russia.
45:54That certainly will get Europe worried, Gaurav,
45:57because that's a very important aspect of how this entire geopolitical landscape
46:02is going to pan out for the next four years.
46:04Russia has time. Russia has the advantage.
46:07If and should they be removed from the sanctions in various quarters,
46:13then their economy will again strengthen.
46:16That should worry Europe, which is trying to lessen its dependency on Russian oil,
46:21Russian products and Russian industry.
46:24It will also allow Russia to gain in strength when it comes to
46:30re-mobilising its resources towards defence production.
46:34So there are so many aspects right now. It's all up in the air.
46:38How is Europe going to respond to Trump?
46:40What is Kyostarma going to take to Trump when it comes to the EU summit that took place on Ukraine?
46:46So there are a lot of options.
46:48America will have to consider all of that when they start engaging not just Europe but also Russia.
46:54Keep tracking that story, Geeta. I will come back to you for more for the moment.
46:58Many thanks.
