00:00British actor and comedian Matt Lucas has stepped forward to apologize Millie Bobby
00:04Brown after she reacted to recent comments about her appearance.
00:08The Stranger Things actress has spoken out against the constant judgment she faced online,
00:13following a post made by Lucas comparing her outfit to a character that he played on a past
00:18show. Matt Lucas had shared a tweet featuring a photo of Millie Bobby Brown in a pink track
00:23suit with blonde hair tied up in a messy bun. He captioned it with the phrase,
00:28No but yeah but. A well-known catchphrase from his character Vicky Pollard in the comedy show
00:33Little Britain. Some online users saw this as mocking her appearance leading to the backlash
00:38against Lucas. Realizing the impact of his post, Lucas later issued a public apology.
00:44Taking to the Instagram, he penned down saying,
00:46Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond and provide some context.
00:51He continued, Nearly 25 years ago, I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain.
00:57There was a character in it called Vicky Pollard, who had blonde hair and always wore a pink top.
01:02And in the photo you had blonde hair and wore a pink top,
01:06so I pointed out the similarity by posting one of her catchphrases.
01:10Lucas went on to clarify that he never intended to offend her.
01:13I thought you looked terrific and was mortified when the press wrote that I slammed you.
01:18Firstly because that's not my style and secondly because I think you're brilliant.
01:23I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you.
01:27But I realize it has and for that, I apologize.
