00:01I was outside. I was on my own.
00:03I didn't choose to live this type of lifestyle.
00:05It's around me.
00:07Everybody ends up losing.
00:10First time I got incarcerated was for a stabbing.
00:14I was two years old, nine months, in maximum security.
00:18My mom was locked up.
00:20My whole family, they always get locked up.
00:22They have had to do some of the worst things to survive.
00:26Humiliation is a great way to get people to learn a lesson.
00:31But now they're humiliated.
00:33Why would we want to do that to a growing youth?
00:35I did not like always punishing them.
00:37They hated me.
00:41Together we can do anything.
00:43That's the only way we'll succeed.
00:45Embrace your moment.
00:46Don't let a moment cost you your life.
00:48The moment is what got us here.
00:50Exactly.
00:52Just thinking that I never had a father with me,
00:54so I don't want to be like that with my daughter.
00:57There's a connection there that nobody can break.
01:00Just try to find the positive. That's really important.
01:03You know why I feel good?
01:05Because you're where you need to be.
01:09In this pod, I treat everybody like they're my own kid.
01:12We're all hoping you succeed.
01:16The minute you start changing what you see about yourself,
01:19you're going to change.
01:21I can't do nothing anymore. I need to change.
01:31Even though it's been hard, I'm going to try my best to be a good mom.
01:34Now I'm making a change for myself, one step at a time.
01:37I'm capable of change.
