The YP's James O'brien looks ahead to the Round 4 Super League clash between Hull FC and Leigh leopards
Transcript
00:00Hull FC had a good start to the season, won two out of the three. Lee Leopard had an even
00:15better start to the season, having won all three and sitting third in the table. It's
00:20an enticing encounter for both teams, isn't it?
00:23It is. Hull, obviously they got over the line against Huddersfield last week. They probably
00:29weren't the better side in that game, but they found a way and that's something they
00:33failed to do all last year. Already, only four weeks in, including the Challenge Cup,
00:38they've won as many games as they did in the entire 2024 season. So that just shows the
00:45improvement and the strides they're making.
00:47Under John Cartwright, a big test tonight against Lee Leopard, who lost a lot of players
00:53at the end of last season, a lot of key figures, but the recruitment's been excellent based
00:59on the early rounds and they're not missing any of those guys. A lot of them went to
01:05Hull FC, a few of them are injured tonight. John Assiata's playing for Hull. Tom Briscoe
01:10obviously who played for Lee as well, won the Challenge Cup there. So there's a strong
01:14Lee influence at Hull and they're going well so far. They need to get a win at home, though.
01:20John Cartwright's mentioned that in the build-up. They didn't win many at home last season,
01:25anyway, last season. But if they can do that and get their home fans on the side,
01:30they've been encouraged by how they've played on the road so far, but they need a win at home.
01:34They need back-to-back wins as well, which is something they haven't had since July 2023.
01:38So if they could tick those two boxes, that'd be massive. But it is very early stages and
01:45the signs are that they are making progress. So win or lose,
01:47they seem in decent shape, particularly compared to last season.
