00:00The Philippines defense secretary says Manila and its allies will counter any
00:05attempt by China to impose an air defense zone over the disputed South
00:10China Sea. The Philippines will take a combination of measures singularly and
00:15with like-minded nations to counteract these activities of China. Naturally we
00:23cannot discuss the specific moves but then again that is a very serious
00:30transgression of international law which will demand a response.
00:35Gilberto Teodoro says defense officials have been discussing the possibility
00:40that China may try to restrict aircraft over the strategic waterway that China
00:46claims almost in its entirety. Tensions between China and the Philippines in the
00:51South China Sea have been ramping up over the last two years. This comes amid
00:56recent confrontations between Chinese aircraft and those of the Philippines
01:00Australia and the United States.
